Residents appreciation thread

In this thread we talk about how awesome the track known as "Residents" is.

If you’ve been reading the "What’s your favorite music/scores" thread, after checking back three times, I see no one mentioned "Residents". I am very disappointed in you all and I said I was gonna make a thread exclusively for it and I wasn’t kidding. 😀

I don’t know, there used to be a loose rule that any music discussion, even FF music, has to be in the Music section, but I never liked it, so I haven’t been enforcing it and nobody has either.

Yeah, "Residents" is pretty good, though there are other tracks in this game that stand out for me more.

Residents…..less annoying than lunatic pandora, more annoying than selphie’s song……you know the one i mean……

find your way or force your way was two of the best tracks uematsu has composed. The piano version of find your way is actually really well done.

Residents needed a variation.

Premonition and The Extreme are a few examples of tracks that are better than Residents :D.

Tracks I like better than "Residents" — the two mentioned above and also "The Landing," Blue Sky," "The Man with the Machine Gun," (BTW, why did nobody nominate this for the battle themes at Gen FF? It completely slipped me by, but I’m not going back and adding it now since nobody nommed it.) "Silence and Motion" and "Movin’."

I thought I did! If I didn’t, I must have either missed it or had a misconception that you already had it on your list. Also, TMWTMG is not even close to Residents for me. It’s a cool track, but it’s overrated. The end is the only good part of it. It’s good remix material, but I’m sorry but the Black Mages version of it was horrible. Way too fast, kinda ruined it for me. The FLWV album version of it, however, was excellent. Still no Residents.

All the other ones you mentioned are a lot closer to it for me except Blue Sky.

But here’s a tip. Try to imagine Residents played on another instrument than it is in the game/OST. (Though I do love the sound effects, they’re a lot better than Silence and Motion’s sound effects and that song was MADE for sound effects).

Anyway, I’ll check and if "The Man With the Machine Gun" was nominated, I’ll add to the list. (Edit– no, sorry, it wasn’t nominated.) As for other versions, I downloaded the 2002 Concert version. That’s a nice version.

Speaking of rumbles (and this is on topic) I noticed in this forum’s edition you didn’t include Propagators!! I thought I might have nominated them, is it too late? I’d obviously be voting for them the whole way through, hehe.

Don’t remember them being nominated…
