I know, sir. Unfortunately I can’t replicate the techniques used on my current computer that allowed me to record the emulated Yamaha FM music from the SEGA-CD without any PCM interference. Long story short, until I get my old computer up, we’re SOL with the missing tracks.

You can find those tracks on Youtube if you look hard, though. 😉

Are those titles for the music exclusive to Act III in the PC-Engine rip official or are they just made up titles?

Some of the music towards the end of my Mega-CD rip are just titles I thought were appropriate, but if those are the OFFICIAL names from the composers’ themselves in your rip, that is most awesome. When I eventually re-release my rip with a few more songs and fixes, I will include the correct song titles if that is the case. You have no clue how much I’ve searched for official names of the music from Act III……

Yes, sorry, very absent-minded of me. It doesn’t include covers but the quality is very good (certainly better than the 128kbps rip that does the rounds). We’ll have to wait and see what you have in store 🙂

Well, I open the file and it doesn’t recognise the file type at all, no matter with whatever programs I use to open it with…

Oh, and the only problem with the Policenauts gamerip is I haven’t played through the entire game (since I cannot read Japanese) so I cannot tag the track titles.

Any of you know where I can get my hands on a rip of the 1988 MSX release? It’s definitely my favorite of the lot, and it’s one of the hardest to come by.

I’m so glad to see my rip is still online. I have long since lost the original WAVS of the audio that I recorded back in 2003. I had a Sony Vaio desktop that allowed a peculiar quirk in with the Sega-CD emulator: it allowed the game to run with the CD-drive open so the PCM audio samples were not accessed, but the sound was still being emulated. So certain sound tracks that were always accompanied with PCM samples (such as the abandoned factory’s thunder) were able to be played without those samples. long story short, I dunno what I did lol. I hope someone can find a way to replicate this, but so far no one has.

Thanks for keeping it online. After discovering this year is the 25th anniversary of Snatcher, I wanted to listen to the Sega-CD soundrip. Cheers 🙂

Digging through my old anime CD collection I bought when young I found that I had the Snatcher>>Policenauts – Hideo Kojima Black Disk. Was going to FLAC it then after some reading just found out its a bloody bootleg 🙁 and if I recall right it was purchased from a HMV shop.

Quickly checked through all my other CD’s and thankfully only that was, very depressing indeed.
Didn’t think about copies/fakes when younger and buying from a shop as large as HMV back in the day should have been safe.

Will have to look into replacing it (if possible) for the proper release.

I have been firstly getting my won cd anime collection, because most of what I want is super duper rare. My only game soundtracks are Kirby triple Deluxe, Final fantasy XIII-2 and Halo 2 volume 1. If the time rises I will definitely get that one. and the Red Disk too. These are some of my favorite game related albums.
Oh, I alos have tehgame soundtrack of Virgin Fleet. so that makes 4 game soundtrack I have.
I always try my best in getting, even in second hand from japan, cds/lps with spinecard/obi, and original releases, no bootlegs at all.

Tried a copy compression of it and even though they were all 100% the Accuraterip failed 16/18.

Had the disc for so long didn’t think to check, on to put in drawer out of the way 🙂

A scratch-free lossless rip of a bootleg is better than a 15 year old 160kbps MP3 rip.
Does anything sound really wrong with the disc, as in source material-wise?

I bought a bootleg copy of Ridge Racer V way back in 2002, and I was a damn happy camper! Only years later did I realize one track was different on the official release. I still just shrug it off and play both versions of it. Same for the official and bootleg of Shenmue Jukebox.

was going to say the same. bootleg or not, some people might find it cherished in the audio for sure. Those bootlegs were badly recorded, and the scans were all scanned and impressed in the best High Low quality there was. I have a friend who bought a bootleg of dragon ball z of something, and compared to the original released version, and the colors of the booklets were all messed up, or instead of colored booklet like the original version it was black and white.

It’s the Ever Anime version it seems from reviewing it to the original (it should have been)
The booklet is of decent quality, rich colours and readable text.
The CD itself has a nice picture disc effect from the image used in the middle of the booklet and of good quality.

Just a shame I didn’t know at the time it wasn’t real.

Listened to all the tracks through good headphones and it is of nice quality so it anyone does want me to post it (and ofc it’s allowed) then I shall.

An upload of that would be awesome 🙂

Yeah, it’s really great. I loved the entire soundtrack, including ones exclusive to the cutscenes that are hard to rip. I tried ripping them from my copy, but it’s too difficult to do so without muting the voices.

So I like to get my composer credits as accurate as possible.

The official credits for Policenauts only name Tappi Iwase, Masahiro Ikariko, and Motoaki Furukawa, but supposedly an easter egg in the PSX version lists a lot of individual track credits and attributes many of them to "La Nakamour" (distinct from these three, as they’re all named too). Any idea what this is? Seems like a fun puzzle to solve here.

On another obscure note (need to double check) I believe the Snatcher PC98 credits attribute "Peace of Mind" to M. Shirakawa and "For Harry" to Seiichi Fukami, but as far as I can tell these are two different names for the same song?
