What kind of RPGer are you? FF6 is a classic style, and Tactics is a strategy RPG.

I recommend playing both, however both games are entirely different.
FFVI is my favourite FInal Fantasy ever but tactics is also excellent.
Make the choice: JRPG or JTRPG
