No more college! Work’s almost complete on the revised edition, so look out for an early july release! Also, i’m in the middle of cleaning up some of the tracks and i need your help to list out the tracks were there are problems (Volume, syncronisation, noise etc.)

HEADS UP! I’m now have alot of free time to do this project and with my new fibernet, uploading should be easier than ever!

First of all, when i checked the download section of MGS4 in the extras menu, i noticed that some of the unreleased tracks from the game have been released; I’ll include these in the revised edition.

Second, since i bought my new X-Fi sound card, i can now record music from my PS3 through optical. This means that there’ll be no more hissing sounds; only pure digital transfers.

And finally, if you’ve spotted any errors in the tracks, then please PM me and i’ll see what i can do about it.

I’ll let you guys now when it’s up. Till then see you around carrier boys 😉

A full expanded score of Hideo Kojima’s excellent videogame "Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots". The soundtrack is meant to get as close as presented in the game, where some have either been ripped directly or been remixed from an existing track. It took me more than 2 months to complete this project, and has proved to be quite a challenge for me. I’m also placing my other works here in this thread.

Converting Apple Lossless to FLAC Lossless:

1. Download all the Apple Lossless archives.
2. Download dBpoweramp Music converter (FREE): http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm
3. Download the Apple Lossless codec and the flac lossless codec (FREE): http://www.dbpoweramp.com/codec-central.htm
4. Install the program first, then the rest of the codecs.
5. Select all Apple Lossless format files (CTRL+A)
6. Right-click on them and click on "Convert to". This’ll open up the program.
7. Select the menu bar "Converting to" and select FLAC (If it’s showing up in gray, try reinstalling the plug-in)
8. Leave the compression level at "8" and choose the "output location" to the folder you want to convert it to.
9. Click convert and let it work
10. To play them either use VLC media player or another player that supports FLAC.
11. Enjoy it!

Yeah. Sound would be too thin without SFX, since the effect that removes it takes a severe toll on the dimension of the sound quality.

Hmm… Think i’m gonna have to use filefactory instead since 500mb is alot for my internet connection to handle at the moment. That means each part will be 300mb max.

Well, i’ve heard that FLAC should be better than Apple Lossless, but i can’t hear the difference to be honest. FLAC is just more popular at least. I prefer Apple Lossless over FLAC since i can get lossless sound on my iPod Classic.

But you do have a point that’ll save me a lot of time. If you want it in FLAC format, just convert it from the Apple Lossless files with dBpoweramp with the Apple and flac Lossless plugins installed. I’ll make sure to make a proper tutorial.

No, i didn’t copy-protect them at all. I’ve made a tutorial in the front page along with everything else on how to convert them. Try the tutorial and see if it works. That’s how i made the soundtrack into different formats.

This looks great, but please please please upload them on something different to filefactory! it just doesn’t work for me! I’m sorry, but i won’t upload it on a different upload service. My upload speed is at a mere 1mbit and it takes up to 45 minuttes to upload each part. I’ve only heard about 2 problems so far with filefactory in this thread. If i used megaupload, then it would be down very quickly. I’ve also just tried it and it works fine here.

Thanks again, I just installed the newest dbpowerAmp R13 and the required codecs, everything works now in terms of converting m4a to wav. I have worked with the freeware version of this program for years now and I hope after the end of the 21 day trial period the main functions will still work, just like they did before…

I’ve had my version for a long time now, and i haven’t lost any functions.

Davd49 has done something similar like mine, but it’s not complete. And then there’s the snake byte soundtrack. I’ll take a look at it later.

Besides, I have a special affection for MGS3 myself and was never quite satisfied with the previous fan-soundtrack, so it is just wonderful that you are now planning to do those two as well. I’m just listening to the South America Part of your MGS4 soundtrack and am very much impressed with they way you ingeniously (re)mixed the tracks. Hands down, this is great! Anyway, you have earned your sleep after this for sure! I sometimes create soundtracks for games myself and once spent 2 entire weeks from sunup till sundown creating the same kind of soundtrack with remixing and incorporating every available piece of music for the long-forgotten games Wing Commander III and IV, so I know how problematic and time-consuming the process can be. Thus, you have indeed earned my thanks!

I was wondering when Next-Gen Control plays in the game since I didn’t remember it playing in the game and now I see it’s not on this expanded score. Is it not actually in the game at all?

This looks great, but please please please upload them on something different to filefactory! it just doesn’t work for me! When the box comes up where you have to type the code It won’t let me type in the box (or click on it, or do anything) . Even if its a crappy ‘Wait 60 Seconds’ thing like megaupload.

I missed 2-3 tracks in Shadow Moses and found out that it’s present near REX’s hangar when you get spotted by those GEKKOS. The game over music is the end of that song.

If you’re downloading the MP3 edition, Folker was kind enough to upload them of megaupload, so you can download several parts simultaniously from both Filefactory and Megaupload. Also, i think i remember trying to use different browers and see if it bypassed the waiting time.

Also ripping means to copy/record audio/video into a digital harddrive, so these tracks have been ripped and edited, just not with the SFX cut out. And to decides: Sorry, but i don’t have the time nor the patience to re-upload all 8 parts. Hey guys, i’ve got myself some time to fix and restore some of the tracks that were both missing and faulty. I’ll re-upload those at some point. About the iPod tracks soundtrack, i’m currently 70% done, so it shouldn’t be too long now.

The Metal Gear Solid expanded score is about 40% done at the moment.

In the beginning, i used the start button, but now i use the select button since it’s much more subtle.

About the re-upload, i’m sorry, but you’ll have to wait until my fiberoptics internet arrives in October/November. I simply don’t have the time to re-upload something that took me 2 days in a row. That way, i can upload with a minimum of 25mbit instead of that lousy 1mbit i have. My good buddy, Switchfreak has re-uploaded the 320kps mp3 version on his complete metal gear collection thread, that’s the best i can do for the moment.

Hate to ask this, since you’re so busy and all. But is there a way where I could just get the Hum version of Love theme? That’s really all I’m waiting for. Or even if anyone else has an idea of where to get it. Really, that’s all I’d like to have.

I know how to remove voices when i use audacity and it didn’t sound any better, it was just ten times worse. There was still SFX as well…

Yes, it’s a complete soundtrack with everything that has music in it. I will be uploading stuff again when i get my fibernet up and going (1Mbit upload takes too long…)

Hey guys, long time no see.

I’ve fixed my main computer now, so hopefully in the upcoming vacation, i’ll be able to get the revised edition prepped and uploaded (though it’ll take quite some time with the shitty upload speed i have). Formats will be in MP3 and Apple Lossless (follow the guide to convert them to FLAC if you wish to do that instead)

After that i’ll continue work on the iPod tracks from MGS4 and then hopefully continue work on the MGS1 score.

To gamer123: And have you contributed anything to this community kid? I don’t see any uploads from you, so you basicly it’s you who hasn’t done anything. Try using constructive criticism instead (bet you don’t even know what that is) of giving me these stupid posts.

HEADS UP! I’m now have alot of free time to do this project and with my new fibernet, uploading should be easier than ever!

First of all, when i checked the download section of MGS4 in the extras menu, i noticed that some of the unreleased tracks from the game have been released; I’ll include these in the revised edition.

Second, since i bought my new X-Fi sound card, i can now record music from my PS3 through optical. This means that there’ll be no more hissing sounds; only pure digital transfers.

Not a year, the original release was released a year ago. What i’m doing now is the revised edition. And stop being demeaning please.

It’s so nice to see people getting mad at me because i haven’t completed something that should’ve been done a long time ago. I have my reasons but i’m tired of telling you the same thing all over again.

First of all, i’m giving you this for free. I’m not obliged to do anything for you guys. I could kick this one in the bucket if i wanted to do it right now
but i won’t because some of the people here have been very supportive from the start and that’s are the reason why i haven’t abandoned this project.

Most of the people who has attacked me here haven’t even contributed anything before, so you are in no position to assault me.

What are you going to host it it on ? Any chance for a RS.com upload for the mp3 version ?

Filefactory; that’s the only one i plan to use. I don’t like rapidshare since it’s very limited and this release is quite big (2.5 for the Apple Lossless one)

Sorry, i copied the wrong link. Should be fixed now. It’s just a faulty release though, so i’d recommened the revised edition which is currently being uploaded now.

No, because the apple lossless files of the original expired. I can’t adjust to people’s needs as there will always be complications. Besides i’m uploading an MP3 edition as we speak.

Track 90 of the 3rd part (mp3) showed as corrupted when I extracted the file. Hopefully Cloudstrife1989 can fix this when he is back.

I salute your efforts!

Sincerely, thank you for your willingness to share this unbelievable body of work. The Metal Gear Solid series is hands-down my favorite piece of fiction in all of entertainment, so having this soundtrack is something i will cherish.

If you don’t mind, i have two comments.

A piece i was surprised not to hear in this soundtrack was the conversation between Drebin and Snake in act 2. Specifically, Drebing telling Sanke "War transforms us…" I loved the variation of Drebin 893 during that part, and the "haven" stuff after that. Do you (or anyone else here) plan to upload that soon?

Also. I must have played (and watched) MGS4 at least 12 times already. So i have to ask; Where on God’s good earth did you get those vocal clips for 06-PMC and 07-War Economy? Are those from the game? I am desperate to know! I would loved to see what kind of scenes the mad Kojima cooked up for those!

Fantastic! Lifelong fan of MGS, and I loved MGS4 (Both the game and the score. I didn’t really think about any extended score since the original score covers quite abit actually, but this is just fantastic.

I apologise for what must’ve been a rather long period with no updates. I’ve decided to put all projects on an indefinite hold.It does not mean that they’re cancelled only that they’re postponed.

I might eventually finish the them at some point but at the moment i don’t feel up to it. Why? Well, what Devilmag said "don’t get pressured too much!" and that’s exactly what i’ve felt: Pressure. That, and obsession: Doing all this kinda ruined my MGS experience which is why i took this long break.

Like all of us, i’ve reached the moment where i must decide which path i must choose to determine the outcome of my life.

I’ll notify you if i feel like taking the mission once more. At the moment, this was my final mission!

I converted them already to .aiff files I just noticed the quality of some of the tracks that also appear on the official soundtrack I have don’t sound as good. Although all the extra stuff is amazing.

Since some of you haven’t completely read through the thread, or even the first post properly I think you should know that cloudstrife has taken a break and put these on projects on indefinite hold. What I would suggest that instead of simply posting on a thread that had laid dormant for nearly a year now, that you PM him when you’ve got your post counts up (10 or more) because he will certainly get your requests quicker.

This may sound nasty but since a few of you are new here I have to say that reading through posts completely can often answer questions before you even start like "Hi, could you post the mgs2 expanded score link? Thank you." The MGS2 Expanded score is "In Development", it hasn’t been released.

Well, I know that, actually I was talking to user Takehiro, since he said that he already completed an expanded score for MGS2, but I can’t find the link, so I was asking if he could post the link for us. I though that my post would go under his post as a reply, but apparently it didn’t go like that, so I apologize for not being clear about what I was asking. Peace.
