I presume you want the American rock/metal soundtracks for the movies. Can’t help you there, you might have to look at the song titles during the movie credits and find those bands elsewhere.

17-Unknown Track 1 is Goku’s ending theme on the hardest level.
18-Unknown Track 2 should be Cell’s or any of the bad guys ending theme.

This is what it’s all about, people. This is why I put this thread together. For the fans! Thanks for showing your appreciation, bridgezone. FYI, the Famicom music were most likely ripped straight from the ROMs. I’ve never done it myself, so I can’t tell you how it is done.

I think it’s time we, the fans, started discussing the music now. 🙂

As far as the Famicom soundtracks go, I think my personal favorites are DB: Daimaou Fukkatsu and DBZ II: Gekigami Freeza. So many great chip tunes in both of those games (many that may have been arranged later on for different games, I believe). I would recommend the fans to listen to these two first before any of the other Famicom games. DBZ Gaiden: Saiya-jin Zetsumetsu Keikaku has some cool BGM too.

DBZ: Gekitouden is one of my absolute favorites. For a GameBoy game, it possesses some of the best chip tunes I’ve ever heard. In fact, I plan on arranging the entire soundtrack once I get all of my gear together.

@ ILL ViLLaiN: Buu Yuu Retsuden was done by Jessie (and what a fantastic job he did). You should address the unknown track titles to him and see if he’s willing to edit them for us.

The arranged version sounds awesome as well. The first track was really cool. It starts out sounding like a DBZ anime OP song and then turns into the main theme from the game. That was so DBZ!

I’m not too familiar with newer DBZ soundtracks such as Budokai and many others so if anyone is familiar with those feel free to recommend me with your favorite albums or even specific tracks.

jalvarez, this is just my suggestion for the thread but could you edit one of your older posts and include the info on composers for each soundtrack? It would be interesting to see who worked on which at a glance. Do you know if these composers were also involved in the anime music? Some of them sound very similar to anime in style.

By the way, DBZIII (FC) only says Bandai Sound Team while other games are listed with artist names like this…

@ bridgezone: The DBZ Gaiden games are two entirely different games, although they both practially follow the same side-story; "The Plan to Eradicate the Saiya-jin". There’s the Famicom game and then there’s the Playdia game. The Playdia game I’ve tagged already, but when it comes to the Famicom games, I’m afraid what you see is what you get. They aren’t my rips, so I’m not at liberty to edit them and take credit for them.

Yes, the OP for the Playdia "Gaiden" game is one of my favorites. Very Japanese 80’s Pop’ish style.

I’m also not a very big fan of the more recent DBZ games, or they’re soundtracks. I love the older ones too much. But if I were to recomend you some good ones, I’d say check out the PSP titles, as they both have some really cool soundtracks.

Be sure to check out my Shin Butouden rip for the Saturn. I’m a very proud of it. 😀

@ bridgezone: The Playdia game might be a sort of remake of the Famicom game, due to their storylines being similar. I’ve never seen a confirmation about this, though. As far as their soundtracks go, I doubt the Playdia is an arrangement of the Famicom soundtrack. I think each of the soundtracks were done by two different composers. I could be wrong, though. It’s been a while since I’ve heard them both. I think I will compare them today.

Kenji Yamamoto is obviously the best composer for the Dragon Ball games. He’s also one of my favorite VGM composers, period. Here is a list of all the Dragon Ball game soundtracks he worked on:

I heard that Super DBZ had some remixes of Shunsuke Kikuichi’s score in it. Problem is, I looked all around my game, and I couldn’t find any. What gives?

Are you playing the Japanese version? I haven’t played it in a while, and can’t find my PS2 power cord, so I don’t really know if it does or not. It does have Cha-la Head-cha-la (2005 version) as the opening, though. ^_^

I need to apologize to everyone for neglecting this thread for so long. My only excuse I have is that my computer is a real piece of shit, and gives me problems when trying to upload/download links. It only works for me half the time right now. That’s why I haven’t even bothered to try and bulk re-upload all the dead links on the front page. But now that I got my PC running semi-better than before, I’ll be putting in some effort to get the front page squeaky clean. I searched the Burst Limit OST that is in this post (the only one I have) and unfortunately the Level Select theme isn’t there.

You can try requesting it here Thread 58069 because it seems cmagus ripped the OST from the game, including the track you’re looking for, but the link is from Megaupload. The thread is from 2008 though, so I don’t know if it would be easy to revive this one.

You’re right, my bad. It seems the 1993 OST is from the Famicom version, not Playdia’s. I will edit my previous post, thank you Despatche.

edit: I have re-edited my previous post again, because it seems the OST Ansem59 is looking for is indeed the Playdia’s one. It’s strange though… because the game itself launched back in 1994 not 1993. It seems the OST came before the game, or something like that.

I have found another Gaiden OST on my HD, it has the front and back covers, but the quality is 192 kbps instead of the 320 kbps that the version I uploaded earlier have.

Later in the month, there were a pair of strategy guides in the form of animated films (!). A few months later, there was an album released which is essentially an original soundtrack for these guides and an arranged album for the Famicom version.

Then there were the Playdia games in 1994, released under the title Dragon Ball Z Gaiden: Shin Saiyajin Zetsumetsu Keikaku (not a sequel as I believed), which are essentially the animated films turned into interactive films, with new footage. It’s likely that these versions still used that arranged music.

Also, in 2003, some version of the footage was released in the Dragon Box. Not sure if this was just the original films or if it came with the extras from the Playdia games.

Years after, the whole thing was remade under the title Dragon Ball Z Gaiden: Super Saiyajin Zetsumetsu Keikaku as an extra for Raging Blast 2; of course, Raging Blast 2 was released worldwide, and the film part was retitled Dragon Ball: Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans in appropriate countries. You can somewhat compare this remake to Dragon Ball Z Kai, except a lot more was changed. There were also elements of the film introduced into Raging Blast 2 the game (a playable character, etc).

I can’t know more unless I get my hands on all of this.

Also, I’ve tried Jdownloader but kept losing connection to the downloads after about 30 seconds or so. Then it’d take several minutes before it’d resume downloading.

EDIT: I’d like to request extended versions of the soundtracks if it’s possible. I mean, so the longs loop more than once if there are any loop information, that is. So that Track 62 in Raging Blast 2 becomes longer than 3 minutes, for example.

The Original Soundtracks of Budokai 1 & 2 are together as one, indeed, but this one I’ve reuploaded is the Gamerip of the game so it contains only the music of Budokai 2 (it has more Budokai 2 musics than the Budokai 1 & 2 OST).

By the way, I didn’t rip neither this OST nor any of the rest which are in this thread, I only help by reuploading some of the ones I had already donwloaded in the past, in order to return the favor.

With the Dragon Ball Z Sparking soundtracks my collection will be very close to complete, it’s in fact my favourite soundtracks, due to the fact that they used the original DBZ music.

Kenji Yamamoto’s music from "Dragon Ball Z – Super Gokuden – Assault Chapter (1995)" is simply outstanding, in my opinion, it’s far better than what he did for Dragon Ball Kai without any comparison, honestly, it beats it easily.

Well, there’s some really nice Yamamoto Kai BGMs but most of his better ones are on older releases (video game music).

By the way, has anyone ripped the BT2 tracks from Raging Blast 2 newer copy? The RB2-BT2 tracks have clear audio quality and would love to listen to them with that quality, the PS2 BT2 rip is muffled. :-/

For video game soundtracks I could care less if they’re FLAC or MP3, what matters is that they’re available and with decent audio quality (muffled doesn’t count as decent, tho), for VGM I do prefer MP3, unless the soundtrack is official and the rip was ripped officially from the disc itself.

It was converted from the FLAC edition available to MP3 320 Kbps, for my Dragon Ball VGM Collection I figured it was pointless to consume so much space for a PS2 soundtrack rip when they don’t sound all that great compared to the technology now available. In comparison after converting it sounded to me the same, so got rid of the original FLAC tracks.

As far as I know, the difference is that the Japanese OST uses music from the anime series, while the Overseas one have basically an original score.

not sure what you mean, mirrorcreator gives you many choices of links to download from. That’s the reason why I use it and the links stay up for a long time(6 months), with the potential to stay up longer if someone views it. With how strict Mediafire has gotten, I personally dont think it’s a good idea to upload there. Yes it’s efficient, but I know of many people who have had all their uploads taken down, leaving them unwilling to upload everything they have again. So pretty much I wont be using Mediafire.

Downloading the iso, I’ll let it finish during the night while I sleep. I’m hoping I got the correct version as I have been seeing that several people on the net have been complaining that the game’s music was replaced with Budokai Tenkaichi 2 because of the Kenji Yamamoto scandal (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2011-03-10/toei-replaces-possibly-infringing-dragon-ball-kai-music). Very unfortunate. Surprisingly though, this has led me to do a little researching and have found out that Kenji Yamamoto actually didn’t even compose the music to Budokai Tenkaichi 2. Sad to know that after all these years of enjoying the tunes from that game the most out of any other DBZ game that they have actually been done by other composers(I saw the credits to the game on youtube which list Hideyuki Fukasawa, Takanori Arima, Hiromi Mizutani, Kenji Fujisawa, and Tadayoshi Makino). I’m honestly very disappointed and I dont even know what to say of it. I’m hoping Raging Blast 2 has the original music from the fist copies of the game before they were later removed and replaced .

Thanks a lot! The Raging Blast Soundtrack is absolutely PERFECT! Just what I was looking for. Although, I have to say, and hopefully It’s not too disappointing, but I already have the rip of Raging Blast 2 that you provided. It was apparently ripped by AoiKageNoChikara from the Daizenshuu EX forums, and updated by "Pr1meraEspada" according to the text document included in my copy of the rip. It was the only one I could find anywhere in the past year, and I was hoping someone would upload a better, higher quality version (more than 190-200 kbps), with the name of each track if possible. Would that be possible? I’m not entirely sure. Or is that asking for too much? I’m really happy that you took the time to find that particular rip, though. Now at least other people can have some form of it without having to look too hard. 🙂

I can definitely try to rename the tracks with official names, so long as I know which ones are on the official soundtrack (http://vgmdb.net/album/23447), which has 24 tracks. Although the rip you downloaded from me does appear to have several duplicates, I still think I may not be able to rename them all as there seem to be more tracks in the rip than the soundtrack. Other than I should be to rip it all with better quality(but it still won’t be lossless as the proprietary adx files aren’t lossless). Only problem I’ve run into is that the program I am using to extract all the music/sfx files for some reason wont let me extract the files in batch, which I really need to be able to do because there are too many files(47000!!!) for me to extract one by one. I’m currently looking for an alternate tool I could use to make my job much easier.

Alright, I’ve gotten all the tracks tagged and numbered according to the in-game sound test. I was able to find a 90 minute video of it on Nico Nico Douga, so the names couldn’t be more accurate. I listened to each song to ensure everything is correct. I’ll try to upload the rip tomorrow evening if I can.

That’s great! If for some reason you couldn’t obtain the info for each track, there’s no way I would’ve been able to do it myself, considering my first copy of the game that had the original soundtrack (and not the replaced soundtrack on the newer copies of the game) broke a long time ago.

I am now only missing DBZ Tenkaichi 2 soundtrack and I think I am finally good to go.

On a side note though, if anyone has Infinite Worlds, that would be cool, but not really a priority for me now.

I gotta disagree. Yamamoto’s "composed" some of the best music besides the spectacular classic Kikuchi, because the newer composes are just bland, generic and tasteless (this goes also for the guy who produced his score for Battle of Gods).

Yes, it’s known that all international versions have the replacement score. People just alternatively say "American version" since they’re from the US, but they know Americans had nothing to do with the new music for the game(well, most people, I do sometimes see people claiming that the replacement music was done by Western composers, which is incorrect).

Toei must have been really bad in not having someone to compose music for the game at all, and re using the music from the anime.

Namco Bandai are the ones that publish and distribute the games(with Atari handling the Western shores back in those days), but it isn’t really an issue of not getting a composer or not having new music, as after all, they did have one of their own composers go through the trouble of doing an entirely original score for international copies(in BT3’s case, it would be Toshiyuki Kishi, who would later do RB1). The reason why the Spike games utilized synth rearrangements of the anime’s score was to capture the feel of the show. However, due to rights issues, the international versions couldn’t get the music based on the TV series’ original score and needed new music.

There is some GT content in the game. You may notice some early Dragon Ball arrangements being used too for the story mode and the end credits too, as the game packed in a few DB characters as well.

does anyone have ultimate tenkaichi in flac?

You’ll only find Ultimate Tenkaichi as a game rip as there is no official release. The original audio files are .ADX which is a lossy compression. The best quality you can get is by using the vgmstream plugin and playing those ADX files.

That or a direct transcode from those ADX files into PCM WAV/FLAC would be the closest thing next to it.
