Occasionally old threads get resurrected by people which causes some consternation. To combat this would it be possible for a warning to appear on the reply screen stating that a thread had not been posted in for some time and that they may consider creating a new thread. I realise this will not work if quick reply is used but it may cut down some of the ‘thread bumping’ that goes on.

It would help somewhat I think, sadly I think there are some people who would read these warnings but revive the thread anyway 🙁

Out of curiosity… Why does it matter if old threads are revived? Yeah I’ll probably get bitched at for asking this, but to me, the people who bitch don’t matter.

Just seems stupid to revive an old thread where half the members who posted in it aren’t even around anymore when you could just make a new thread.

i think this was mooted before (though i may be wrong) and it seems to be pretty difficult to implement.

good idea though.

This.

And it puts relevant, current threads down in the page listing, which isn’t that huge of a deal, but if it happens all the time, an old thread can take the place on the front page of a current thread. The same thread might also already exist (as in the general RPG forum where there are two threads circulating asking what is your first RPG — one is 4 years old, one is more recent), and then you’ve got two rolling around, and no one really knows which one is good to post in.

It’d be nice if something did come up that could say "This thread is x months old, the person(s) you are responding to may not be active members at this forum any longer, or there the same topic might be found in a different, more recent thread. Are you sure you want to post?" I doubt it’d be that easy to implement.
