Signiture Competition Voting/(and later) Results

After over a week has passed so i think we will start the voting, We started With 4 entrants but due to no communication with UltimateFFFan, it will be dropped to Three competitors, Myself (Brotherhood619) Smarties (aka Ultra Magnus and Shinryudan (Ryu).

Also so that voting can commence and so that I do not forget about this competition, i have allowed smarties to use one of his previous sigs for this competiton.

I think i’m going to have to vote for Brotherhood619’s panda ninja signature.

smarties was great but a bit to wham bam action chaos for my taste (still great though)

and Shinryudan’s was too simple for a signature competition

so i vote for panda ninja because i like the clean look. Bad ass ninja panda wielding swords, not to mention the small little girl panda who seems to be able to nap even though the bigger one seems to be about to fight.

I’ll critique each one on good and bad points – Guys, don’t take it to heart. Soon I’ll put up my stuff so you can take your crack at them. :coolegg: :

Shinryudan:
Good – I like it’s simplicity in design. Very creative and abstract. A great sense of Japanese influence.
Bad – Like Brandy said, it’s too simplistic for a competition – not that I’m saying it was easy. Sometimes the more simplistic can be the best, but in this case you’re in a competition of show off skills, and this only shows one aesthetic, and that’s design. Another point, you could’ve used a different font that matches the design. That’s the only thing I see that throws it off a bit.

Smarties:
Good – Nice overlays, and effects. Really goes with the overall theme of the Dragon. Blending your name in is a nice touch.
Bad – Unlike Shin’s sig, this one is a bit too over the top. Again, like Brandy said, a bit too chaotic. Like I stated before, this is a competition of skills, and over the top aesthetics is great. But this is milking it a bit. I think a border might help control the scene. Although you did a great job blending your name, it gets lost in the chaos. you might want to lessen the blend to show it off more.

Brotherhood619:
Good – Nice overall design. The composition is great. All the layers blend in nicely to form the action pose.
Bad – The only thing wrong I see hear is the centering… On a 2nd look, it is centered. It’s a visual illusion. You might want to offset the image though, to compensate.

Overall I vote for BH619’s sig for it’s design.

Shinryudan:

Pros: Very nice, looks like an nfo file and those take ages to the art work in
Cons: As said before, a bit simplistic for competition.

Smarties:

Pros: Nice work, you’ve come a long way since we all first started. The fire is realistic and the render is blended well
Cons: The lack of a border makes the work feel incomplete, and for me the image seems a bit big for a sig, maybe shrinking it down to about 400×150 would be a nicer size

BH619:

Pros: Nice clean design, can’t say I like the render much, it seems to be a combination of two seperate renders. The eyes in the background would have worked well just on their own, using another theme however, something like an angels and demons theme such as:

Other than that, I like the minimalistic approach, you’ve also progressed a lot since you first started, even to the point you have surpassed myself.

Cons: Just the renders don’t work well together in my opinion.

My vote overall goes to Smarties/Ultra Magnus as if the image was a little smaller and had a border (both minor alterations) it would be a very good piece of artwork, whereas the other two have a few less simple flaws in them

Hate to second guess you BH but you should have made this as a poll not everyone wants to post, and artistic Discussion is not a popular sub-forum for some unknown, reason. If it was in GD would it be that bad? Also that is a nice pic of wok I have no idea how you did that Shin,

So I’m voting for Shin, but UFFF you should have entered, yours could have easily won.

I have my reasons.

One is because this way i know who is voting for who and that people are not trying to mess up the tally’s. i actually talked my self out of this one but then forgot to put the poll on.

I could have put it in GD but im not that popular on this FFShrine and the thread would probably have been spammed to hell with "wrong forum NOOB!!!!!!" or words to that effect
