Probably not. DW4 Empires appeared to be simply an experiment in game design (it’s essentially ‘Capture the Flag’ in the Dynasty Warriors/Romance of the Three Kingdoms universe.), and was only released as a stop gap measure until Dynasty Warriors 5 was released(which at the time was first announced to actually be a launch title for the PS3).
Not that it was a bad game – I really enjoyed it (especially the wealth of character models to choose from in Edit Mode and all the hidden artwork and media to unlock, such as voice samples etc), it was just that the battles got far too repeative after a while.
But yeah, DW5XL sounds bloody awesome, especially what you told me about it on the phone earlier XD – the huge amount of character models to choose from in Officer Edit Mode that Koei is boasting of on the site sounds very interesting.
Plus, I’m also hoping that there will be an option to once again have a full squad of bodyguards as in the earlier DW games instead of just one single bodyguard as in DW5. But I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
