Hey guys here's a bonus never before released track from the inception app edition. With all the recent bedlam going on this site regarding the inception score I thought it would be a nice little gift for all the HZ and inception fans. Hope you guys like it.

The track is titled Dark Mal

Besides, all that is is an edit of Old Souls.

This is not an edit of "Old Souls". Thanks for posting this sutanshu; I was curious about it when they first came out with the app several months ago. While the first part is most likely just "Old Souls", the second part of the tracks looks totally different in Audacity, and while the second part sounds the same, it is missing something from the OST track. It kind of feels like they toned it down a bit.

So while it isn't an unreleased track from the movie, it is a nice alternate for "Old Souls". Forget MrGhostFace--he's a little bit on the rude side, today, it appears.

Thank you for sharing the bonus track, sutanshu. Now... to figure out where to place it in Takehiro's expanded version?

Technically, it doesn't belong anywhere. What Takehiro posted a while back was just the OST rearranged (still not in film order) with the iTunes bonus tracks included as well as the end credits ripped from the DVD and that JunkieXL remix. A couple of the OST tracks had proper fade-ins and -outs, though, I think. Hope this helps, for you, theeaglesfan005. For further reference, I think you can find this by doing a Google search for "Inception 2CD Expanded Bootleg". It is 88 minutes long [miles per hour!].

As I said, it is an alternate to "Old Souls" so, really, you could place it anywhere you wanted that wasn't so close to "Old Souls" or "Waiting for a Train", since they are all somewhat similar.

EDIT: Now, see, I just was typing up a description of the music that T-Mann just provided a link to in the time I was typing it up.

Well, I apologise if I came across as being rude, I can see how that happened. Just like someone asking for thanks sounds obnoxious, I guess. And this track is pretty much just Old Souls with the middle taken out. Where does "Bad Mal" play in the movie? I dunno, I guess someone expecting gratitude pisses me off, especially when all they've done is upload a track that isn't theirs and which doesn't contain any original music. If that's rude, then yes, I'm being rude today.

Eisengeist

It's an alternate ... mix.
essentially a shortened Old Souls with muffled sound, maybe destined to be played over tiny handheld devices' speakers.
... where the louder part starts way more boomy with lower strings more present.
nothing new ... and definitely not listenable. :)

could fabricate something like this using the 5.1 material :D

The Dimensioner

@sinus: hmmm, curious!

@MrGhostface: what do you mean, all he's done is upload something that isn't his? Where the heck else are you going to find that track? It's not like he said, "lol, guys, I fabricated this track from scratch." And I already answered where "Dark Mal" plays in the movie: it doesn't. It is an alternate to an OST track, which also doesn't really play in the movie.

MrGhostface

Where am I going to find that track? Um, how about being able to come up with that track in about two minutes flat using MixPad or WavePad. Not saying that's what he did, but this supposed new track doesn't contain one single note of new music. And again it's not that which really irked me, it's his expectation of thanks. I think thanks is given when people consider it's deserved, not when people ask for it. It's like a waiter asking for a tip, rather than waiting for you to do it voluntarily. So that's the source of my irritation. Let's move on.

Thanks.
This track, meh, if part of the app, a nice gem. The iPhone app has a bunch of nice samples, esp if you dig a bit into the rjz (rename zip) files. It's worth the discovery if you like the soundtrack.
While Dark Mel is well done, it seems a tad too fast. I like about half of Zimmer's soundtracks for pure listening. The rest works only when enjoyed with the movie. Dark Night Special Edition was a waste of money (that damn fiddle-sound grates on nerves without seeing the joker doing demented things). Sherlock Holmes, Pirates 2, Hannibal and DaVinci Code are my favorites to listen to. Distinct themes, and moderately bombastic. What pisses me off are those special tracks (not even lossless) that pop up along the soundtrack. You won't miss much listening to Projections and Elephants.
End of ramble, just my opinion, move along. Again, kindly thanks.

Neat. Thank's for this.

Regarding Tak's expanded version. The bonus tracks plus the Junkie XL remix does look lossless when viewed in Adobe Audition.
And there was another user in the same thread that posted the same thing but with wierd links.
I donwloaded both and they were the same soundtrack version.

Just that it should be noted that Zack Hemsey's "Mind Heist" is a very different version than the one used for the trailer and on Zack Hemsey's EP of "Mind Heist".

I haven't gotten around to uploading my version of the blu-ray version of the soundtrack.
I have to find it all again, it's burried somewhere in the archives.

Did you also glaze over all the posts following his on the HZ boards? He presents a rather unconvincing image of the fact that he really has anything. Cheesy said everything that needed to be said, and I think another poster followed up on that earlier this morning. What do I think about him? I think he is a fake, and therefore not uploading anything. Besides, as cheesy said, we already have a person who appears to be far more legitimate who really wants to share the music.

Anyone can post that they have a complete score, and people will go crazy--even without providing any proof that they have said score...actually, that kind of sounds like a fun idea....

Actually its very easy to extract the ".ipa" inception-app file. Just download it to your pc and use winrar. You will find many many mp3's inside there, some of them are just a bass line or effects but maybe someone who knows the score well can fish out the interesting bits (like the "airport" track)....if i knew it better i would have it already done by myself.

Again: You dont need to jailbreak or install iFile or dont even need an iphone, just download the app (its free) to your computer and extract it (.ipa files works with winrar). So you dont need to record it because you can use the original mp3's which are packed into the app. Its that easy :)

Hi everyone... I know I'm quite late, and I'm not even sure if the version posted here is the same of this (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yC4D6AOfGDI) YouTube video.
If it was the "Dark Mal" (5:51) suite, not the Old Souls track from the OST, can I have a re-up of this track?

Calidoran
08-10-2016, 10:00 AM
Inception app bonus track is misleading. It's a musictrack ripped from the Inception app. And i guess you could consider that a bonus ;) Anyway, this is just like any program or game. As it was mentioned earlier - if you open the app-file in WinRAR you will see the same as in a computer program - lots of folders and files. In some of these folders there are the musicfiles in different formats. Wav and m4a (and there might be others, i don't remember).

Sourcefile is an .ipa
Open it with WinRAR
Search through the directories/folders for any soundfiles
Sort out the music from that, some of it is lossless, some is not

I know too little about the Inception score to be able to tell you if there is anything new there

Imperivm
08-10-2016, 11:13 AM
You mean this app from the iTunes store? (https://itunes.apple.com/it/app/inception-the-app/id405235483?mt=8)

I might try to install the game and search for the file, though I'm not sure I'll manage to find and extract it.
If you already have the file, could you upload it?

Calidoran
08-10-2016, 11:59 AM
If you have the file (Inception (version number).ipa or something), you don't need to install it. Just open that with WinRAR and either extract everything and get rid of all unwanted stuff OR extract the exact files you want. And it's not just ONE music file, there are many. Ranging from a few seconds to several minutes. I can't help you with a filelist though, you'll have to manage on your own :)

So:

Locate the .ipa file and open it with WinRAR (or anything that can open it).
Extract everything or just the select files.

Imperivm

Calidoran
08-10-2016, 12:16 PM
I don't have that file that was uploaded before. There are almost 100 music files when you extract them though. And you have access to the same (well, actually newer) .ipa-file as i do :)

lessiknowthebetter
06-21-2019, 01:53 AM
Could somebody upload the app (.ipa file)? It's not in the iTunes store anymore. Am curious about the ambient music design aspect of the app and regretting I didn't download it back when it was available.
