Definitely one of the oddest games I've ever played, but THE DOG ISLAND has some of the best video game music I've ever heard, from the adorable opening song to the end credits. If you haven't played the game and have no interest in playing it, the music is still worth checking out and enjoying on its own.

Unfortunately, as far as I know, no soundtrack has been released for this game. Another user posted a rip of this game's music some time back, but the link is long dead and I haven't been able to find rips anywhere else. So I figured I'd try ripping it myself as I was playing through it. The audio was recorded by plugging the Nintendo Wii's audio output into the computer's line in / microphone input using the software Audacity. The recordings were then edited and exported as WAV files, then converted to 320 Kbps mp3 files. The tunes which do not have a natural end are faded out shortly after they have played through their loop once. Some tunes have an introduction which isn't repeated again during the loop though, so don't worry about anything having been cut if a track seems to fade out before it has reached the beginning again.

I believe this collection collects almost all of the music from the game, one exception being the victory jingle which plays if you win any of the mini-games. Like the other jingles from the game it's registered as a sound effect and not as music, and while the jingle plays your character will bark and of course barking is also registered as a sound effect. So I was not able to get a bark-less version of this short jingle, and it has not been included.

I have tried ordering the tracks in chronological order, i.e. in the order they appear in the game. Most of the tracks appear several times through the game in different contexts (for example, what I thought was the boat theme was actually used later in the game in other areas), so coming up with descriptive titles for the tunes was at times rather tricky.

Any comments or constructive criticism would be great! This is the first time I've ever done a rip like this. I've also been looking into the possibility of somehow extracting the audio directly from the game data, but we'll see how (and if) that goes. For now, enjoy this rip!

Wii games are easy to rip, usually.
Try Dolphin or Wiiscrubber to access the disk structure and look for the audio.
Then pray to find a non crypted audio format.

Thanks for sharing! It has piqued my interest in the game itself. It looks odd indeed. :D

Thank you for the suggestions! I'll try looking into those. So far I've only dabbled a bit with ISO-mounting and vgmstream (http://hcs64.com/vgmstream.html), but not had much success yet. There's also this thread (Thread 50648) for the topic.

It is! I believe it's a game for the THE DOG Artlist Collection, a brand specialising in selling products of dogs photographed close up with a wide-angle lens (like this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=argCvDpk_KQ)). Looking at the Europe/US cover and reading on the back, I had expected it would be a generic Wii mini-games or pet simulation game, but it's actually an all-ages adventure RPG. I rather enjoyed it, but the great music was definitely a big reason why.

There's also this thread for the topic.

Grab Dolphin or wiiscrubber (google them and they will come).
Then download a wii iso.
You decompress the iso, then you run the softwares.
I don't use wiiscrubber (it doesn't mean it's weak, I'm just used to dolphin) so here's what to do with dolphin:
once the iso is extracted from its rar or zip shell, you run dolphin, then press the big star icon "browse".
Locate the iso directory. The iso should appear. If not use the open button to locate manually the iso.
You right click on the name of the iso, that will make appear an option window with many tabs.
Select the first on the right "properties", the disk structure will be revealed.
Locate the audio files. Sometimes they're in a folder named...audio or music or sound.
Sometimes they're not. You'll have to find them then. Watch for extensions like adx, brstm, ttarch...
Once located, you right click on the file or the folder you wish to extract and you extract.
You convert the music (if you want) with the specific tools"
That's it.
And of course, after that, don't forget to share:angel:

Thanks for this! I heard some of the music for this game and was almost tempted to buy it based on that alone... Thankfully I managed to remind myself of the probability of it being a highly repetitive and only slightly fun game. :P But thanks to you, I can still enjoy the acoustic fun of the music! :D

Thank you again, jamesbolos! I'll give it a try when I'm able, and I'll see what happens.

The game might still be worth a look! It goes well with the music, and it's certainly one of the more interesting games I've ever played. It's not perfect, but definitely memorable, and at times even touching (again helped by the great music). I'd recommend looking up some footage on YouTube and browsing some reviews to see whether or not it's the kind of game you might enjoy.

If anyone's interested, here are the game's sound credits:

Sound Designers

Etsuo Ishii
Minamo Takahashi
Junichi Nakatsuru
Rio Hamamoto
Yoshihito Yano
Tetsuya Uchida
Tomomitsu Kaneko

Acoustic Guitars & Mandolin
Chewtaro Moritake

Chorus
Eriko Chubak

Guiter (sic)

[ Beyond the sky ]
Music
momo (Momo Michishita I'm guessing)
Lyrics
Eriko Chubak
Arrangement
Sound AMS
Vocal
Melody Chubak

The sound designers are all Namco Bandai (http://vgmdb.net/artist/3714) composers with the exception of Etsuo Ishii, which is a little weird 'cause I can't see that Namco had anything to do with the development of this game otherwise. They must've been contracted, along with Sound AMS. The developers spent a good penny on the music for this game.

The file seems to have expired. Can it be re-uploaded again?
To be more specific, I'm only looking for the track which plays in the desert area.
