I also have a number of the 6th Doctor's adventures in Mp3 format that i am in the process of deleteing as i obtain the actual cds from Amazon.

I am really very new to these. I know there are "seasons", but do not have a comprehensive info on what is where..

Currently Big Finish run Doctor who stories in MIni Seasons or a full seasons.

A Mini season to me is made of 3 stories, sometimes linked. A example of this is Big Finish bringing back everyone one from Peter Davidson's second year - Turlough, Tegan, Nyssa & the 5th Doctor.

A Full season to me is like 7-8 stories which may be linked. An example of this is the Colin Baker Dr's Lost Stories. Sylvester McCoy's Lost Stories (Soon to be released) and McGann's 8th Doctor Series.

I belive I have still the 3 recent peter Davidson's stories with Tegan Turlough & Nysaa, so I'll look at finding away of getting these up.

These are not my rips, but someone's else that i've managed to get hold of as a torrent.

Anything is welcome. These are not my rips either. I never had access to these until recently. In the States, well here anyway, they are not readily found in even specialty stores. I got all of these as dl's from another site. They are from various uploaders. That site's thread was shut down by Big finish. I do not know if ours will last, we'll see.

I never liked Mccoy's or C. Baker's Doctor on TV, but listerning to them via the BF audio i have new found respect for both actors as there doctors.

Out of Mccoy and C.Baker, I do prefer Colin Baker's softer/matured Doctor then his TV rude Counter-part

As for McCoy, he works on Audio for me, as i don't have to watch a comic actor who started off sticking creatures down his trouser's to entertain people, run the programe into hibernation.

Hi, so not exactly audio drama - but any chance of people adding the Target readings that are available?

Specifically I'm after:

Daleks: The Mutation of Time
Terror of the Autons
The Awakening
The Edge of Destruction
The War Games

They used to be added at TheBox but these most recent ones don't seems to be there. What I liked was that the uploaders would include scans of the inlays, discs labels and booklets so I could print out my own.

If you're on a Mac, you can hit Cmd+Alt+A and save the different components.

Patient Zero has the end missing, so annoying. At least I think it does. It just stops with the Tardis caught in some kind of temporal thingy.

Yes, I have dust breeding. I think I have all of these up to 130 or so, actually, but none are uploaded. I can find some time tonight to do it maybe.
I actually went and edited the first 40 or so that had the generic 4th doctor intro music and gave them their doc-appropriate intros/outros (is that a word?) so you'll be getting the "special edition" version of Dust Breeding.

The layout worked nicely for the initial gathering, but is a bit unwieldy now. I'd like to hear suggestions for improvement.

And quite the discourse on 'canon'. I'd never heard, nor seen, the word 'canon' before discovering Doctor Who. Timeline? Canon? I say put the stories where YOU like them. That's what the Doctor does, and justify it by what the Doctor says: "It's timey, whimey."

Glad to be of service. Basically, when I mark an event as an "Unrecorded Story", all it means is that the event in question either hasn't happened in a broadcast/published story yet even though we know it must at some point, such as the departure of companions exclusive to ongoing audio/novel series like Oliver Harper or Hex; or the event is mentioned offhand or assumed to have happened before the story immediately following the notation, like the 6th Doctor dropping Peri off in 1985 New York before the comic The Shape Shifter in order to travel with Frobisher for a while before picking her back up as seen in the comic Kane's Story.

As for the timeline, I didn't put it together so much out of any obsessive need to account for every second of the Doctor's 900+ years, but more so as to be be able to approach the massive amount of Expanded Whoniverse material in a way that makes the most sense, avoiding the problem of "Who are these characters? What events are they referring to? Why are they talking about it like I should already know?" as much as possible. Exact placement is often arbitrary, in the absence of direct references to other stories having ocurred immediately before or after (the novel Spiral Scratch ends with the opening scene of the TV episode Time and the Rani, for example), but as long as stories with the same TARDIS crew roster are grouped together I won't quibble over whether or not the novel Last of the Gaderene takes place before or after the novel Speed of Flight as long as it is agreed that they both precede the TV episode The Green Death when Jo leaves.

In some cases, some new bit of evidence will cause me uproot and rearrange entire sections. For example, I had gone by the prevaling wisdom that the 8th doctor's adventures in the audios and comics took place in the three-year gap between the novels The Eight Doctors and Vampire Science (three years for the Doctor, but only a few hours for Sam). The Doctor Remembers Izzy in the novel The Gallifrey Chronicles, so then clearly the novels come after the comics. However, in the audio The Zygon Who Fell to Earth, the Doctor remembers the events of the novel The Bodysnatchers, so the audios must come after the novels rather than before them. This actually makes things more convenient, as the 8th Doctor novels and comics have both completed their runs while the audios remain ongoing (for now) and seem to be leading into the Last Great Time War.

Pompeii was a big city, it's entirely possible that they never crossed paths. 7 & Mel's adventure in Fires of Vulcan happened mainly at the gladiatorial arena, the temple of Isis, and the immediate environs of those two sites. 10 & Donna went nowhere near either of those places in Fires of Pompeii. It would be like assuming that just because you and I are in New York City on the same day that we have to run into each other. If you're at Yankee Stadium all day and I'm at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, we'd never know the other was in town. Also, As 10 must remember being there before as 7, I'm pretty sure he knows to avoid the path of his past self to prevent paradoxes.

That's easy stuff, though. What will really bend your noodle is trying to reconcile New Year's Eve 1999/New Year's Day 2000, with 4 and 6 in London (the novels Millennium Shock and Millennial Rites), 8 in San Francisco (Doctor Who: The Movie), and 7 in San Francisco, London, and a plastics factory just outside of London (The Movie and the comics Mark of Mandragora and Plastic Millennium) all at the same time, and all four Doctors dealing with five completely different and unrelated apocalyptic millennial crises. I haven't consulted Ahistory yet, but there's probably more 12/31/1999-01/01-2000 adventures I haven't read yet, too.

Sorry, but I haven't listened to the Cosmic Fugue stories yet, and haven't added them to my chronology. In fact, I wasn't even aware of their existence until Burneggroll posted them here. Still, the Chronology as it exists so far should be able to help you place them based on which Doctor/companion combinations are involved. For example, if you're dealing with Two, Jamie & Victoria then it must occur after Evil of the Daleks but before Fury from the Deep. If they mention Yetis in the underground, then you can narrow it down to be between The Web of Fear and Fury from the Deep.

Still, I wouldn't get too hung up on specific placement beyond that. I find that short stories, whether print or audio, very rarely feature game-changing continuity milestones that require you to read/hear them before more famous works (if anything, they are often better approached with hindsight); and most authors are more interested in replicating the flavor of a certain Doctor/companion team and don't worry themselves about when exactly it fits into the show's history beyond a general placement in one Season or another. So unless it specifically refers to the Master being in custody or the Doctor's exile being lifted, for example, a Three/Jo/Brigadier/Yates/Benton story can occur anywhere between Terror of the Autons and The Green Death without affecting much of anything.

I can't even name the number of dead links I've hit while searching for these. I'm going to be busy grabbing as many of these as I can. I use the publisher's lists. There is no complete combined list. And with so many new releases coming out, it is hard to keep up.

The TARDIS Library comes the closest, though. They're updated frequently, and usually list upcoming items a few months in advance.


The Eighth Doctor exists in three distinct timelines; novels, audios, and comics (each has it's own timeline). Trying to interlace them, or establish continuity, will drive you nuts (no offense to the MadKalnod). It's all timey-whimey. And - remember, the Doctor tells lies.

Well, that's the tricky part. Some authors treat them as separate timelines (I want to say Lawrence Miles is the most prominent advocate of that theory), and some don't. There was a story arc in the novels about a bottled universe where the audios and comics were taking place, but IIRC the BBC had them end it by merging the bottled timeline with the main novel one. All three reference at least one of the others at some point, so they have to coexist somehow. Like i said, in many cases it doesn't matter, but if contradictions pop up you can always blame them on one or more of the following:

A. The Last Great Time War (Time Lords Vs. Daleks). Prior to this, assume the Time Lords quietly tidied up any catastrophic changes in the wake of the Doctor's interference, but are no longer around to do so afterwards.
B. The Time War from the EDA & Faction Paradox novels (Time Lords Vs. ?).
C. Cracks in the Universe erasing whatever touches them.
D. The Universe did not re-boot itself exactly as before when it extrapolated itself from Amy Pond.
E. The events in question are part of the divergent timeline created by Katsura Sato in The Road to Hell and negated by Cyberleader Kroton in The Glorious Dead.
F. The events in question are part of a divergent timeline created by the TimeWyrm and negated in TimeWyrm: Revelation.
G. The events in question are part of a divergent timeline created by George Limb in Illegal Alien and negated in Loving the Alien.
H. The events in question are part of one of many parallel timelines as seen in Spiral Scratch.
I. I'm sure you get the idea.

There are also two things to consider that I also like to use to explain away contiuity misalignments:

1. Quantum Flux. While it is a given that every decision causes a new timeline to branch off from the main trunk of History (one where Donna Noble Turned Left and one where she went right, for example), have you considered that some of these timelines might link back up later on? For example, the Schroedinger's Cat scenario states that if you put a cat in a box with a container of poison gas designed to be triggered by the decay of a specific radioactive particle and close the lid, because the act of observing the particle affects its position and/or velocity and thus affects whether or not the poison gas is released, then the cat is considered to exist in a state of "Quantum Flux," meaning that until you open the box to observe, the cat is alive, dead, both and neither all at the same time. What this means in terms of the Doctor Who Chronolgy is that unless referred to in a broadcast episode, the events of the audios, novels and comics are in a similar state of Quantum Flux. There is a timeline where the events of Planet of Fire occur and are followed a short time later by the events of Caves of Androzani; and there is one identical to that except that the Doctor and Peri have a long series of adventures with Erimem in the audios between the two. If Caves of Androzani plays out in an identical fashion in both timelines unaffected by the events of Eye of the Scorpion through The Bride of Peladon, then unless something later down the main timeline references Erimem her adventures with the Doctor are in a state of quntum flux, both happening and not happening at the same time as long as they make no difference to the outcome of future events.
(Yes, I realize that it is just an overly complicated way of saying "wibbly-wobbly-timey-wimey", but it makes me feel very clever and thus happy.)

2. Unreliable Narrators. I remember reading years ago in the letters column of an old Legion of SuperHeroes comic where a reader asks about an apparent continuity contradiction. The editor's reply has stuck with me all these years and serves as a useful principle when trying to sort out such things: The Editor said that the Legion's adventures happen to them in a way that is consistent and makes sense to them. However, the chroniclers of those adventures are human and make mistakes. The makers of the Star Wars D20 RPG took this approach when trying to explain some of the more outrageous elements of the old Marvel Star Wars comics as sensationalistic exaggerations by those attempting to cash in on the fame of outlaw Han Solo with "unauthorized biographies based on a true story" like the dime novels of the Old West, and Han himself would complain those hack writers never even spoke to him and that things didn't happen that way at all. I imagine the Doctor would say the same of say, Seven Keys to Doomsday. Just because it's shown/written that way doesn't mean it necessarily happened exactly that way.

The link in Burneggroll's wonderful list goes to the previous "The Creed of the Kromon" story? Would be lovely if someone could help!

There is also an incorrect link in burneggroll's list for the Eighth doctor story "Scherzo" from 2003, which links to the "Master" episode from the same year. That one isn't a problem though as babydoll has givena link in the opening post.

Source of 8th Doctor stories might be useful. Apparently some of the episodes broadcast on Radio 7 were edited - either for reasons of timing, to tighten up the stories or to remove material referring to events in non-transmitted stories.

I don't have copies of the Radio 7 versions, but I know this was particularly true for the earlier stories featuring Charley.

OK, here's a slightly obscure one. Back in 1996, Slow Dazzle issued a Dr Who calendar (for 1997). The calendar came with one of 3 cassettes, all with the overall title of "The Secrets of Dr Who". Apparently tape 1 was Elisabeth Sladen, 2 was Peter Davison and 3 was Jon Pertwee.

Has anyone ever come across these tapes? Were they any good and are there any MP3s of them anywhere?

I tried downloading them again but they still don't work. I don't know why but I can only guess that the files may not have properly uploaded and are incomplete or they are corrupt... If new versions could be uploaded I would greatly appreciate it.

The next story in the series "Crime of the Century" is currently due out next week and is doing the rounds on Ebay at some very high prices.

Does anyone have a example of the actual story or the complete story, so I can judge about purchasing it off Amazon.

Ah well... I'll keep the Slow Dazzle tapes on my radar... got to be out there somewhere!

Next ones I'm trying to track down are the David Banks readings of his book "Cybermen" (I think there are 2 versions - a general commercial release on cassette and a reading for RNIB. Whether they are one and the same, I couldn't say).

And slightly off topic (but only slightly) are the Douglas Adams readings of his 2 Dirk Gently books.

Any further info on any of these would be appreciated!

Thanks for tracking down another copy of the Jon Pertwee interview. I haven't managed to find MP3s of the 2 Dirk Gently stories (as read by Douglas Adams) yet, or the RNIB reading of "Cybermen". Will let you know if I ever come across them...

There's also a radio play that I'm looking for - a follow-up to "Dalek I Love You" called "Dalek I Love You Too" which was broadcast on Radio 7 a few times between 2008 and 2010. I managed to miss it each and every time!

I think the Hitchhiker's audios could fill a thread all on their own. I'm mentioning them here though because they share so much with Dr Who. The third book was originally dreamt up for Dr Who (I think it was going to be Dr Who and the Krikketmen). And Professor Chronotis in Dirk Gently of course originated from the only partially made Dr Who story Shada.

The first Hitchhiker's audio was the radio series. This has been released on cassette and CD, and also a remastered version (tweaking the speed and the theme tune). I'm not sure if any of them were quite complete as the BBC had to remove scenes with Marvin humming "Shine on You Crazy Diamond (by Pink Floyd), as well as the Beatles' "Rock and Roll Music".

The original radio series was completely re-recorded (using mostly the same cast) for 2 LP releases (the first part on a double LP, and the second on a single LP).

Then there are at least 3 different talking book versions. Abridged versions of the first 4 books were read by Stephen Moore (who played Marvin). An unabridged one (all 5 books) is read by Douglas Adams himself. And since the film, the first book was read by Steven Fry with the following books being read by Martin Freeman.

Ah, excellent, I'm always happy to see anything that deals with the 3rd Doctor in any form, even Liz Shaw. Thank you for posting Sentinels of the New Dawn.

I feel like a bit of an idiot, but I saw to adventures for Nine, and the links were dead. I have no qualms about the specific episodes are, but I'd like it a lot if someone would upload some Ninth Doctor adventures. Preferably in mp3, or m4b.

Please upload Sentinels of the New Dawn and Short Trips Vol. 3. These are the only ones I'm missing! Thanxabunch!

Secondly - has anyone considered using USENET rather than the various share sites? Once stuff is on there it's damn near impossible to have it removed. And with servers like Giganews and Astraweb you're talking the better part of two years retention.

I think we'd definitely need to keep story titles away from their respective download links, but it would make it pretty difficult to organise, and heavy on FFshrines server if a picture was being used everytime? Though I could be being very niave and not understanding the ways of the internet!

You're in for a wait as it has niot been released yet, and the actual CD is only now being offered on Ebay as a Pre-Sale with some sellers saying release will be around 13th June.

This date seems strange as i had always thought that the BF releases were normally at the end of each calender month.

You can always do something far better and that is actually buy the original when it is released, so that you are surporting BF and this will allow then to continue the excellent range of CDs

The numbering of the BBV Series gets wonky after Infidel's Comet, as it depends on whether or not you count the first Faction Paradox stories as part of the Audio Adventures in Time and Space Line. The one you're looking for is listed as #26 in my files.

I don't have Defiant Stain (that is, to the best of my knowledge, an in-house creation of the BBC graphics department and not widely available), but I do have the fan-made version, Deviant Strained. If there's any appereciable difference between the two, I haven't seen it.

yes BBC produced two web versions. 1 that was just audio and 1 that was a cartoon with the same audio. Having listened to it and comparing it with the remake of Shada BBC did back in the early 90s with Tom Baker narrating certain areas that were not finished I would say all BBC did was lift the audio track for the characters outside of Paul and Romana. It's exactly the same so its kind of a paradox in it's existence.

I have a slight;y off-topic request, does anyone know if the BF BBlakes SSeven stories are anywhere, back in the day they were free on the Sci-Fi channel website but have been recut by BF, plenty of Who connections being written by Ben Aaronovitch and Mark Platt. Think the episodes are called Rebel, Traitor, and Liberator but not 100%. Would be rather lovely to get a link to see whether the CD is worth buying! Many thanks

I picked up disk 1 of season 1 and am watching The Way Back now. I'm 4 minutes into it and already interested. That just shows how amazing Terry Nation was as a story teller, lol.
