Bloody heck! These are a find!

If these are from the old Kino DVD, the audio on that set is plagued by copious looping and tracking, as well as digital errors. Careful editing can help with the former, but there's no solution for the latter. Like "Metropolis," however, this film has been restored and the score newly recorded (from what I read), and will hopefully receive a new DVD/Blu-Ray release soon!

This is such an incredible piece of music! You can really tell that this was the LORD OF THE RINGS of its day!

A few years (actually some 15 and more) I did extensive research on Fritz Lang, METROPOLIS and DIE NIBELUNGEN. Magnificent pictures, unfortunately these productions were plagued by a perfectionist of director, some pretty fuzzy ideology (nothing Nazi or fascist, more cheesy and campy), overlength and an enourmous waste of budget. Still, great to watch if you can get used to movies being in black and white and without sound - except for music.

And the music is great! :)

This recording sounds very much like taken from a DVD-set, unfortunately without any track names.

Speaking of Metropolis, I heard that Polish composer Abel Korzeniowki composed a new score to Metropolis sometime ago, does anyone have access to this?

Not sure, scoreboss. Here's a link to another forum with AB's score:

Also, I'll just throw this request out there and see if anyone knows of it:
I'm looking for the 1966 German film "Die Nibelungen: Siegfried & Krimhield's Rache", music composed by Rolf Wilhelm. Would love to give this a listen, there is a 2CD version with scores from both films, but any version would be great to start with, Thanks!

I also made my own Cover as well, linked below, in full size so that people can re-scale as they choose.
Gururu, your cover is great, not trying to replace it, just offering an alternate, similar style, using a different background image.
I also would love to get some track titles (even just fan-made ones based on scenes), it really helps me to put the music in a story context as I listen.

Here's Lens of Truth's edit of the 2010 reconstruction by Frank Strobel and Marco Jovic (Source):

(...) The recording is by the same excellent team who did the recent Metropolis restoration and it's wonderful to finally hear the music in all its glory. Anyone familiar with the dreadfully distorted 70s version from the DVD will appreciate the difference!

For this presentation I've ripped and resampled the lossless stereo PCM track from the blu-ray and edited it into a form more appropriate to standalone listing. Cutting 5 hours of music down to 2 (a cd's worth for each film) wasn't as easy as I thought it would be, but I'm happy with the final result. Unvaried repetition is avoided, but all the main themes and motifs get a full airing. I like to think Huppertz storytelling is unbroken too, although some passages have been shuffled slightly to make better musical sense.
