You can actually hold over the Pagoda quest til disc 3 if required though, as long as you have already completed the earlier quest in Wutai with Don Cornero, to get Trine on all four Enemy Skill materia.

I've done this several times (the most recent during my playthrough on the PC version), so I know it is correct.

Agent0042
01-15-2010, 02:38 AM
Yeah, I actually thought that might be the case too, but I wasn't sure personally, since I had never tried it, and I figured that the answer Yagyu was looking for was Disc 2.

Agent0042 gave the answer I intended with the question.

I didn't know that, Enkidoh, thanks for the insight. I thought it HAD to be done on Disc 2 regardless. On my perfect FF7 file I did it on D2 without knowing it's possible to do it on D3. While not crucial, it's good to know.

Go ahead Agent.

The Magma diver suit Evangelion Unit02 wore in Neon Genesis Evangelion, as well as the Keystone. I can't remember the others though...

Haha! I had to go and check to see that for myself, and it does say 'D type Equipment' - Blew my mind.

But the other items are:
'Star Cup'
'Weekend Clock'
'Laugh Sapling'
'Slayers Pot'
'Chisa's Mask'
'Dio's Portrait'
'Calling Gourd'
'Zauger's Cup'
...And the keystone, depends whenever you go there.

I'm assuming the items are like ...obscure cultural references based on what they're called? Can't say I've ever heard of any of these things though, other than the NGE reference.

Enkidoh
01-26-2010, 08:47 AM
You came very close Honokasa, but you're actually missing an item. But as at's now been over a week since I asked this question, I may as well wind it up.

Honokasa pretty much got most of them, save for the very first item on the right hand side: Kleine's Pot (I just checked this with screenshots of the items in question). But you got every other one correct so well done! (Good job to everyone else who tried too).

Also, there are several other items in Dio's showroom that can't be inspected, namely a big blue model airship suspended from the ceiling and two model hot air balloons in the corner. But they weren't part of the question. ;)

Anyway, go ahead and post a question Honokasa when you're ready. :D

Okay.

I've been thinking about a bad ass question to ask you guys all day.

Currently playing through FFVII on my psp, so I've been keeping stuff in mind whilst i play it.

And I bring you this:

On your first visit to Nibelheim, when you enter Tifa's house, upstairs there is a Sephiroth clone (one of the dudes on the black cloaks), what number tattoo does he have, and what Item does he give you?

Darth Revan

It's now the 5th of February, so honokasa I think it's time you give the answer and then let someone else ask a question.

Darth Revan
02-07-2010, 12:56 PM
Ok, here's a question:

You can acquire a handful of items by playing a tune on Tifa's piano in her house (Using the buttons on the controller. The song is the main theme to FFVII). What are the items, and extra credit if you can also tell the method to get them?

Meltigemini
02-08-2010, 01:51 AM
1 gil, Elemental materia and the Final Heaven limit break.

I know you can only get the Final Heaven with Tifa in your party on disc 2 or 3. 1 gil can come randomly if you just play any time without Tifa there. Not sure about how you get the Elemental...

Darth Revan
02-08-2010, 02:25 AM
Meltigemini is correct, and gets the extra credit as well. Next question is yours.

To get the Elemental Materia, on Disk 2 when Tifa is the party leader and play the tune again.

Alright, continuing the theme of choral music, from what text, with a well-known musical setting by Carl Orff, are the words to One-Winged Angel taken?

Enkidoh
02-12-2010, 05:38 AM
That's easy - Carmina Burana, including part of the well-known O Fortuna. ;)

Note however that this was only the original version of OWA that borrowed Orf's lyrics - Tetsuya Nomura wrote new lyrics for Advent: One-Winged Angel in Advent Children. :) I guess Uematsu must have gotten into hot-water with that little bit of plagiarism. :p

FF1WithAllThieves
02-12-2010, 10:40 PM
Actually, I don't think it was really plagiarism, since the original Carmina Burana were a set of Latin poetry written by some medieval monks, so it's probably a fair bet that text is in public domain.

But you most certainly answered my question correctly, so your go.

Ah well, it's been over a week with no other takers, so I may as well wind this question up - it's of course during the FMV scene of the collapse of Sector 7 early in disc 1, it's playing in President Shinra's office in the background as he watches the destruction below.

The cutscene with Cloud and Zach going to Midgar if I do believe.

Enkidoh
03-06-2010, 09:48 AM
Actually, the scene in question was when the Weapons awaken from the Northern Crater - the international version shows brief shots of Ruby and Emerald Weapons blasting off into the atmosphere, which were not in the original Japanese version of the game.

Kie
03-06-2010, 02:08 PM
IIRC, there was a version of FFVII which either didn't have angelic sephiroth or didn't have the final omnislash scene with Cloud v Human Sephiroth. Other than that, Enkidoh is right, they didn't have the difficult weapons.

Szczepan
03-07-2010, 05:16 PM
Hmm... Tough situation. Non-canon sousaphone got what I was expecting, but Enkidoh is also correct, as cutscene can be understood both as ingame scene and FMV. In that sense both answers are correct, as both "Cloud and Zack going to Midgar" and "Ruby and Emerald in FMV" are exclusive to international ver. I should've used different word. Sorry for that:/

@ Enkidoh: Assorted amounts of GP as well as Gil, various consumable items (potions, phoenix downs, ethers) and various materia (Gil Up and Exp Up are just two examples.).

@ Techchild: If you want to ask a question, you must first answer the question the previous poster asked, then wait for their confirmation if you are correct. However, to answer your question:

You can find one at Gaea's Cliff, Temple of the Ancients and to win 10 special battles in the Gold Saucer Battle Square. You can also morph a Master Tonberry into a Ribbon, not a Ochu.

You can also morph an ouchu at the arena or lose 999 times @ the golden saucer.

That's the Ho-chu or w/e it's called (I think you fight it in the second or third round of the special battle w/e in Gold Saucer... not sure which though), that can be morphed into a Ribbon. Your question though was probably worded incorrectly:

How do you obtain Ribbon without morphing an Ouchu?

Worded like you were asking about other methods of getting a ribbon.

Still, as I said in my other post... don't just ask questions, if the previous poster has already asked a question. Either answer that question and wait for them to let you know if you're correct or leave a post alerting that poster to answer the question (due to no activity for a week or so).

I agree with you IDX, after a week with no other input from the person who asked the question etc, a new one could be asked. However Enkidoh asked that question on the 20th... it's only been two days. Some time is allowed for others to answer, before someone arbitrarily asking one.

And for those who are wondering, these are the non-prize/purchased/story items you can find in Gold Saucer:

Ramuh summon materia in the Jockey's Lounge of the Chocobo Races (can only get this when Cloud is there whilst attempting to gain release from the Desert Prison)
Elixir inside the mini-bar of the room in the Ghost hotel (easiest time to get this is when Cloud returns to his room following the date scene)
Sprint Shoes from the woman at the bottom of the stairs outside the Battle Arena (must win eight consecutive battles at the arena in the one visit - can only be gained in disc 3)
Protect Vest and Chocobo Feather from Dio by winning all 8 consecutive battles at the Battle Arena when attempting to get the Keystone
30 GP from the man standing opposite the Mog House arcade game in Wonder Square (must play through the mini-game and complete it once, then speak to him)
Chocobracelet, Precious Watch and Cat's Bell from Esther at the Chocobo Races lobby (after racing one of your own chocobos and winning 7 consecutive races in S rank in disc 3.)

Anyway, FFWAT was close, so go ahead when you're ready. :)

Without using a gameshark, what are the four different ways you can kill Emerald WEAPON in under 01:20?

Hint:
Certain ways to kill Emerald WEAPON (in under 01:20) are exclusive to certain characters.

Enkidoh
04-11-2010, 10:59 AM
I'm probably going to say it would probably involve any of these:

A: maxing out Cloud's strength and constantly Omnislashing him with the Ultima Weapon (but of course that would require him to take damage).
B: equipping Yuffie with the Conformer so she would do damage in relation to the amount Emerald is dishing out in turn.
C: equipping Vincent with the Death Penalty after he's killed a certain amount of monsters to supercharge it.
D: equipping Barret with the Missing Score and loading him up with tons of rare mastered materia.

I still think all four methods are rather hit and miss though (especially as they risk causing damage overflows which can screw your game over).

But I'm probably wrong.

Szczepan
04-11-2010, 11:26 AM
1. Higwind Limit+Mimic Materia with Cid while he has 7777HP (or maxing him with Hero Drinks)
2. Ungarmax Limit+Mimic Materia with Barret while he has 7777HP (or maxing him with Hero Drinks)
3. Cait Sith's Instant Death (kills everything) Slot Limit
4. Vincent with maxed Death Panelty

Withope
04-12-2010, 12:06 AM
Enkidoh,

C & D are certainly correct. I will include both of those as ONE way to kill Emerald WEAPON with "the overflow method." With Vincent, the overflow method is almost the fastest way to kill him.

Vincent's One Shot Overflow Kill (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4cXfeCC6_ac)

And Another One Shot Overflow Kill By Vincent (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcQOfcovSuw)

Barret's Hero Drink Enriched Overflow Kill (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BIZM-ESR034)

Further Knowledge on Overflow Kills (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJbonNH49Ls)

Szczepan,

1 & 2 are on the right track. Could you be a bit more specific though? 3 is correct.

Cait Sith's Game Over Kill (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMO-pgaTSF0)

Further Knowledge on Executing Cait Sith's "Game Over" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGNYMHdE4ks)

So that is 2 1/2 ways to kill Emerald WEAPON in under 01:20...Only 1 1/2 more! =0

1. The Overflow Method
2. Cait Sith's "Game Over"
3. Szczepan's 1 & 2 answers are on the right track...
4. ?

Hint for 4:
Think of the most conventional way of killing Emerald WEAPON, but exploit a fairly unknown glitch utilized by that transmuting coffin dweller. Oh & the glitch is triggered by certain weapons and a certain command materia...Go France!

Enkidoh
04-23-2010, 02:51 AM
Well then, I have no idea.

Szczepan's idea of using the Lucky 7 cheat won't work though, at least, not for the purpose of the question, because I have used Lucky 7s against Emerald before (with Tifa), and she spent over ten minutes attacking Emerald in a berserker rage (all other characters nor the enemy do not attack til the effect wears off).

Hence Miming such an effect is useless for trying to beat him under a certain length of time, as it would just add another ten minutes of ceaseless attacking to the clock.

As for the hint you gave Withope, that wouldn't be the Sniper CR or Long-barreled Rifle (both of which have a 255% hit ratio) while equipped with Deathblow materia? (incidentally, Tifa's Godhand weapon also has a 255% hit ratio, making Deathblow useful for her as well). But I've never heard of that glitch before (doesn't surprise me though).

Anyway, that's all I can think of, so I think it would be best to put this question to rest, as it's been over two weeks now with no further takers. :)

Withope
04-23-2010, 04:28 AM
Agreed. I think it's time to put the question to rest.

Szczepan was on the right track for the 3rd way to kill Emerald WEAPON in under 1:20 but not entirely correct...

3. Mime+Counter+Limit Break

Equip Barret with 8 Mime Materias paired with 8 Counter Materias, go into battle with Emerald WEAPON, have another character use two hero drinks with w-item on Barrett, use Barrett's "Ungarmax," Emerald WEAPON will counter with "Emerald Shoot," Barrett will counterattack with Ungarmax on Emerald WEAPON 6 times, & Emerald WEAPON will die.

Mime+Counter+Limit Break Kill (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PNqXfq88Zi0)

4. Vincent's Mug Glitch

A person from France, SuperAcro, discovered this neat little glitch. When Vincent uses "Mug" with Shortbarrel/Winchester/Long Barrel R/Sniper CR/Death Penalty, the next attack animation is skipped; however the damage is usually STILL calculated. So take the most conventional way of killing Emerald WEAPON (spam KOTR), but sneak in a mug or four (Counter+Mug/Counter+Mime) to skip the animation.

Paired materia:
Counter+Mug, Counter Magic+KOTR, Counter+Mime, Counter+Mug, Counter Magic+KOTR, Counter+Mug, Counter+Mime, MP Absorb+KOTR

Vincent's Mug Glitch Kill (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9-axzhopEY&feature=related)

Combination of Vincent's Mug Glitch Kill + Cait Sith's Game Over Kill (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=URY9IZ-O5uI)

So all in all, here are the four ways to kill Emerald WEAPON in under 1:20:

1. The Overflow Method (00:10) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4cXfeCC6_ac)
2. Cait Sith's "Game Over" (01:16) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMO-pgaTSF0)
3. Mime+Counter+Limit Break (01:18) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PNqXfq88Zi0)
4. Vincent's Mug Glitch (00:47) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9-axzhopEY&feature=related)
Note: There are faster times for every one of these.

Fun stuff. And to think back on my youth of all of those times I would spam KOTR, pair Final Attack+Life2/Phoenix, & use all of the Turbo Ethers/Elixirs I had...What a waste...=0

I'll pose another question. If you guys doesn't feel like answering it, pose your own question (I'll understand. It's been nearly two weeks). Otherwise, the person who gets it correct will obviously pose the next question.

Which other compositions within the game borrow the main melody of "Those Chosen By The Planet?" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_C77Eaq3CDQ)

Enkidoh
04-23-2010, 07:51 AM
To me, Shinra Electric Power Company (the Shinra theme) has a similar melody, right down to the tolling bell in the background, along with the similar Climbing Shinra Tower (the theme that plays on the upper floors of the Shinra Building). Finally, Trail of Blood (plays several times, usually when encountering the aftermath of Jenova or Sephiroth's carnage) is kind of similar too.

I'm probably incorrect though.

Withope
04-24-2010, 03:54 AM
Not quite.

Here's a hint...Both of these pieces play on the 3rd disc of the game.

Enkidoh
04-25-2010, 10:31 AM
Hmmm. All I can think of then is Judgement Day - the theme that plays as you descend the Northern Crater, which does sound kind of similar.

There is another unnamed track that's not on the OST which features the same tolling bell and percussion that is used at the start of Those Chosen By the Planet, which plays during the 'final' one-on-one battle between Cloud and Sephiroth, except that also plays in a number of other locations, such as the Shinra Mansion in Nibelheim. But that's probably wrong.

Withope
04-25-2010, 11:50 AM
Unfortunately those aren't correct. I wasn't thinking of the melody-less "Those Chosen By the Planet," but nice guess.

I'll retire this question since it seems I have scared everyone away from the thread. =0

Take the next question, Enkidoh =)

Enkidoh
04-25-2010, 02:09 PM
Hmmm, to me those tracks don't sound anything like the same melody as Those Chosen By the Planet. Also, Weapon Raid doesn't appear on disc 3, it was first introduced in disc 2. ;)

Anyway, here's my question:

What is the weakest enemy in the game (in terms of level, HP and strength), what do you get for defeating them (EXP, gil and items), and where can they be encountered? (note: hidden 'debugging' enemies do not count)

Withope
04-25-2010, 10:27 PM
My mistake about "Weapon Raid." It does appear on the second disc. And if you listen closely to those pieces, you will hear the melody from "Those Chosen By the Planet."

Go to 1:24 of "Birth of A God" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGHkjLhIpU8)

1st Ray of the first Reactor is the weakest enemy.
XP: 12
Drop: Nothing
Gil: 5

Your question Withope.

Withope

There are two different pieces of music that play while you fly the highwind. One is "The Highwind Takes to the Skies." What is the other one, and when does it play?

Enkidoh
04-27-2010, 09:28 AM
That would be the 'world map music' that plays after the Meteor is summoned in discs 2 and 3 - aka The Great Northern Cave. Incidentally, it only plays while you're flying the Highwind in disc 2 - once the Highwind undergoes it's metamorphosis and gains jet engines, Highwind Takes to the Skies plays while flying instead on disc 3.

To confuse matters though, the Highwind theme still plays when you're inside the airship regardless of what disc you're on - Great Northern Cave instead only plays when flying the ship on the world map.

There are other themes that play from time to time too during story moments or cutscenes, such as Shinra Electric Power Company, Cid's Theme, and It's Hard to Stand on Two Feet, but I think it's just The Great Northern Cave you're after. ;)

04-27-2010, 10:54 AM
Actually I was just thinking of "Cid's Theme," but you are certainly correct. Nice job =)

Quick question out of curiosity...When does "It's Difficult to Stand on Two Feet" play when you are piloting the Highwind?

Regardless, your question.

Enkidoh
04-27-2010, 08:30 PM
It doesn't play while piloting it, but during a cutscene onboard the Highwind in disc 2, after Tifa decides to stay with Cloud during his Mako Poisoning in Mideel. After Cait Sith eavesdrops on the Shinra board meeting, Barret decides that Cid should assume the leadership of AVALANCHE temporarily.

It's towards the end of that scene that It's Difficult to Stand on Two Feet plays. But it soon changes to Highwind Takes to the Skies once Cid accepts and gameplay resumes.

Anyway, now for my question: :)

In keeping with my earlier question, but reversed. What is the strongest (in terms of level, HP and strength) non-boss/optional boss (regular) enemy in the game, what are it's stats (level, HP/MP, and gil, exp and items received for defeating it), and where in the game can you find it?

And no, Ruby WEAPON doesn't count, as that's an optional boss enemy.

Note: you may need to refer to a bestiary for this (which is acceptable). ;)

FF1WithAllThieves
04-28-2010, 04:38 AM
Alright, without looking, I'll take my guess for the enemy, and then I'll look up its stats:

Master Tonberry
Level - 45
HP - 44,444
MP - 100
EXP - 6,000
Gil - 6,800
AP - 200
Drops - Megalixir
Morph - Ribbon

It's also worth noting that his special attacks are very powerful; Everyone's Grudge damages based on how many enemies your character has killed, which can easily be an automatic 9,999, and Chef's Knife is an auto kill under any circumstances.

There, that's the best case I can make for it. I'll now go and see if I'm wrong.

Enkidoh
04-28-2010, 01:26 PM
That's not actually correct FF1WAT. Although Master Tonberries are nasty, they're nowhere near the strongest normal enemy in the game in terms of raw power (their attacks are more based on instant death attacks, which can of course be easily negated by the time you encounter them, aka, ribbons, or even the old 'destruct/added effect' materia combo in your armour).

Also, you made a mistake with their HP - they have nowhere near that amount, although the rest of the stats you listed for them are correct (according to the official bestairy endorsed by Square they only have 8000HP, not 44000). Either way, there are a couple of other monsters who have far more HP and are far more dangerous than them.

Still, it was a good guess. :)

04-28-2010, 01:27 PM
EDIT: accidental double-posted it.

FF1WithAllThieves
04-28-2010, 11:55 PM
I'm pretty sure they have a lot more than 8000 HP; I've always had to do way more damage than that to take one of them out. Also, Everyone's Grudge isn't an instant death attack, although it doesn't necessarily do that much damage if you haven't killed a lot of enemies, and I'm not sure Chef's Knife can be stopped by Ribbons (I don't remember it helping out in my game). Still, I believe you that there's something tougher out there, just wanted to point out those details.

Edit: Here are a few links to other bestiaries about the HP:

http://www.ffonline.com/ff7/enemies-mq.htm
http://www.rpgplace.net/ff7/misc/bestiary.php
http://squarehaven.com/games/PlayStation/Final-Fantasy-VII/guide/bestiary.php?Find=tonberry&=find+monster

I'll note that there were a few that had the 8,000 figure, but I suspect that this comes from a typo in the Official Strategy Guide, which many sites probably used as a source, and that the 44,444 figure comes from actual in-game research. If anyone can go back and fight one to test this, that would be helpful, because this is QUITE a discrepancy among sources. Sorry if I'm beating a dead horse here, Enkidoh, but I'm really curious about this.

I always thought the Zombie Dragon was the most powerful non-boss/optional boss (regular) enemy with the following stats (taken from this webpage (http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Dragon_Zombie_%28Final_Fantasy_VII%29) and 'The Completely Unauthorised Guidebook to Final Fantasy VII' by Casey Poe/Versus Books):

Level 54
HP 13,000
MP 400
EXP 4,000
AP 300
Gil 2,800
Drop Cauldron, X-Potion
Morph Vaccine

With the following ATK, MAG and DEF stats:

ATK 160
MAG 65
DEF 150

Enkidoh
04-29-2010, 02:14 AM
Dragon Zombie was indeed the one I was after. :)

Also FF1WAT, I did consider that the FFVII guide might have been wrong, so I checked up on FAQs online, and they all said the same thing. But again, that might have just been because they themselves used the official guidebook for reference.

Having said that though, I have heard that the HP damage number that appears on screen is not always the actual amount of damage being dealt, due to a bug in the game's programming. So, it might be that they indeed have only 8000 HP but due to this bug it seems to require far more effort to kill them. But maybe I'm just clutching at straws here. :p

Anyway, DH got the answer I was looking for, so he can have the next question. :D

Ok... simple question. There are three musical scores played at the Shinra Headquarters, one outside, one inside and the final piece after Cloud and Co. escape from prison. What are these musical pieces?

paarish
04-29-2010, 04:32 PM
Outside-"SHINRA Theme"
Inside-"Infiltrating Shinra HQ"
Escape from Prison- "Trail of Blood" or if u mean the actual escape that's "Crazy Motorcycle"

EDIT- actually re-reading your post has made me think whether it's "Holding My Thoughts In My Heart" (after defeating the boss on the highway)

Enkidoh
04-29-2010, 06:17 PM
There's also Bombing Mission playing if you enter the Shinra Building through the front door, and it continues to play as you ascend the lifts to the 60th floor.

One final piece is Still More Fighting continues to play after the Rufus boss battle, even after control switches back to Aeris, Barret and Red XIII on the ground floor. It fades out once Tifa appears however.

In the Junon Underwater Reactor, three musical themes are played for that whole section, with one of them being played twice. What are the three themes and which one is played twice?

Enkidoh
05-22-2010, 06:23 PM
Chasing the Black-Caped Man in the underwater tunnel to the Reactor, Mako Reactor inside the reactor itself naturally (in keeping with all the other reactors), and Hurry! twice - the first after being attacked by Shinra troops, and the second time after defeating Carry Armor and heading to the submarine.

If you want to be really pedantic Still More Fighting can also be counted too, as it plays during the Carry Armor boss battle. ;)

Darth Revan

Enkidoh is correct (Have to stop asking questions about the music... Enkidoh always gets them right... ), so it's your question.

Enkidoh
05-25-2010, 11:06 PM
Okay. This should be an easy one if you think about it carefully.

As we all know (or should know by now), each character in the game has their own unique Limit Breaks, the effects of which are not replicated by a Limit Break of any other character. However, there is an exception to this rule.

Which two characters share a Limit Break in terms of the effect or bonus the Limit Break gives, what are the names of the Limit Break abilities in question, and what effect do they have on the party (if any)?

execrable gumwrapper
05-26-2010, 12:26 AM
Yuffie's Tranquility and Aerith's Healing Wind.

They both cause game over screens heal the party.

Enkidoh
05-26-2010, 02:29 AM
Yeah, you pretty much got it. Although Yuffie's Limit Break is called Clear and Tranquil in my version of the game, it's more or less the same thing. ;)

As for the effect, Healing Wind and Clear and Tranquil both heal the party's HP by half. I think the reason for the duplication was to compensate for Aeris's 'forced removal' from the party in discs 2 and 3, so that players can set Yuffie up as an alternative healer. Not that Yuffie's magic skills were particularly powerful though. But I digress...

Anyway, your go Gumwrapper. :D

05-26-2010, 02:57 AM
Throughout the game, there are fights that seamlessly transition without altering the background music from a "world theme" to a "fight theme". (ex: the very first encounter with the two guards after Cloud hops off the train)

Name the fights, bonus points for naming the musical score being played.

Withope
05-26-2010, 06:57 AM
"Aeris Theme" plays during the fight wiht Jenova LIFE.
"Opening - Bombing Mission" plays during the fights when you break into Shinra Headquarters.
"Trail of Blood" plays during the fights after you break out of the Shinra Headquarters prison.
"Still More Fighting" plays during the boss battle with Rufus and continues to play after the battle is over.
"Hurry!" plays during the fights on train containing the Huge Materia.
"Weapon Raid" plays when you fight Ultimate WEAPON, and he attacks Mideel.
"Hurry!" plays during the fights when you are attempting to break out of Junon (with Cait Sith & Barrett)
"Weapon Raid" plays during the fights when you are attempting to break out of Junon (With Cait Sith & Barrett/Cait Sith, Barrett, & Yuffie)

Enkidoh
05-26-2010, 07:47 AM
There's also a few more that you missed Withope.

Shinra Electric Power Company plays when the Proud Clod appears in Sector 8 of Midgar in disc 2, and the resultant story scene with Scarlet and Heidegger, and continues to play during the battle against it.
J-E-N-O-V-A plays in the Northern Crater at the end of the game, between the area where the party pauses to hand over items to Cloud and the Core of the Planet where Jenova SYNTHESIS is fought. The theme continues to play during any random encounters en route to the boss battle.
Bombing Mission plays during the initial scenes right at the start of the game in Sector 1, along with any random battles fought in that area. Although the theme then changes to Mako Reactor, and the battle theme changes to Fighting, Bombing Mission returns at the reactor's core when the Guard Scorpion is fought, and remains during any random battles fought during the escape from the reactor.

Withope
05-26-2010, 07:56 PM
"Fighting" plays as you climb the Pillar near the Slums of Midgar. It continues to play in ever battle until you fight Reno.
"Still More Fighting" plays during the fight with Palmer. It continues to play until the Tiny Bronco lifts off.
"Still More Fighting" plays just prior to the battle with Godo. It continues to play during the battle...even during the item drop/gil/AP screen. The piece of music fades out shortly after.
"Still More Fighting" plays when there is an enemy invasion at Fort Condor. Your character runs outside, and the battle begins. The music remains playing until the battle is over with.
"Hurry Faster" plays right after you defeat Carry Armor. It continues to play through the wave of panicking, idiotic MPs that are outside of the submarine. It reverts to a world music only theme once you engage battle within the submarine.
"J.E.N.O.V.A." plays just prior to the battle with Hojo. He giggles a few times, and then you engage battle with the music playing.

I hope that covers all bases.

Techchild
05-26-2010, 08:12 PM
And the final battles on the steps down to Jenova Synthesis, the music stays the same, and fades into an altered J.E.N.O.V.A theme.

Also when Cloud is whizzing through the lifestream and omnislashing Sephiroth the music is the same.

'Fighting' will usually always play on a timed battle run.

execrable gumwrapper

Hmmm, all I can think of taking your clue into account, is the silver pendant that Dyne gives Barret just before he dies, which Barret uses as a kind of 'get out of jail free card' when arguing with Mr Coates - it never appears in your inventory or key item list though - the connection to FFVI being that Terra also had a silver pendant that was a key item.

But anyway, here's my question:

Tifa's old friend Johnny leaves his home, and parents, behind in Sector 7 at the start of the game to 'go on a journey of self-discovery'. There are a number times in the game where you can see or meet the erstwhile adventurer - how many times can he be sighted, and what locations can he be found? (including his ultimate destination).

The first two are correct (outside the Honey Bee Inn at Wall Market is one, plus he eventually ends up at Costa Del Sol where he moves in with a girl, which is where he stays for the rest of the game). He never goes to Gold Saucer however.

06-16-2010, 06:26 PM
In Aeris church maybe? After Cloud made a hole in the roof:)

Enkidoh
06-17-2010, 01:22 AM
Nope, it was actually quite a bit before then.

Anyway, Withope got most of them right, but here are all the answers in case anyone else was curious:

First location: entrance to Sector 7 Slums when Cloud leaves Seventh Heaven to do the Bombing Mission on the Number 5 Reactor - in this scene he mentions that he's leaving on a journey, and for Cloud to take care of his 'childhood friend'.
Second location: in one of the carriages on the train to Sector 4 when Cloud is trying to avoid getting locked in when the security system goes off.
Third location: outside the Honey Bee Inn in Wall Market (you can also speak to him when Cloud is dressed as a woman, and like all the other misguided fools there doesn't recognise him.) :p After the Sector 7 Plate collapses he's no longer there
Final location: house in Costa Del Sol. This is his final location where he spends the rest of the game. If you don't have Tifa in your active party when you arrive there, Tifa will spend time talking with him, causing Cloud to become jealous. Later on another girl is seen living there, presumably his girlfriend, and the two are seen living there for the rest of the game.

Anyway, Withope got two of the answers right, while Sczepan got one, so next question is Withope's. :)

What are the six items (not key items) that have no practical use in the game at all, other than filling up your inventory? And where do you gain these items?

Withope
07-03-2010, 07:28 AM
this is all i know

1/35 soldiers: junon, ?
masamune blade: gold saucer - speed arena
tissue: gold saucer - battle arena
super sweeper: gold saucer

doesnt the amount of tissues u have determine the difficulty of the monster arena?

Enkidoh
07-12-2010, 09:36 AM
Withope got four of them, but there's still two that haven't been mentioned. :)

And no, tissues do nothing to effect the difficulty of the battle arena - that was just a rumour. They're completely useless, hence this question. ;)

Enkidoh
07-31-2010, 08:31 AM
Okay, it's been nearly a month now without any further takers, so I'm just going to declare Withope the winner, seeing as he got four of the six right:

1/35 Soldier - two can be found searching the barracks in Upper Junon, but you can get more by winning them at Gold Saucer's Speed Square.
Masamune Blade - won at Gold Saucer's Speed Square
Super Sweeper - won at Gold Saucer's Speed Square
Tissue - Consolation prize after fighting in any battle at the Gold Saucer Battle Arena, regardless whether you win or lose.
Dio's Autograph - Won at Gold Saucer's Speed Square
Combat Diary - Won at Gold Saucer's Speed Square

Anyway Withope, your go. :)

I've played this game three times (and have gotten the Umbrella and the Flayer), but I've never heard of the last two. How exactly do you get them?

Meltigemini
08-15-2010, 12:26 PM
I thought those last two came from the battle arena not the speed square? Think they were prizes for completing the special battle after you already got the Final Attack materia.

Enkidoh
08-16-2010, 06:03 AM
I think you might be right Melti. I racked my blonde-rooted brain trying to remember exactly where I gained them and settled on Speed Square (I tried searching online for info about it but came up with nothing).

Anyway, if Withope doesn't post a question I'll just open it up to whoever wants it.

You're correct. Both Dio's Autograph and Combat Diary can be won in subsequent battles in the secret duel, after you have the Final Attack Materia.

Sorry. I've had some computer problems.

What is Cloud's mother's name?

Darth Revan
08-17-2010, 12:33 PM
I don't recall Cloud's mother ever being named in FFVII. I think she appeared in Crisis Core, but even then she was unnamed.

Your question, Death's Hand

Darth Revan
08-17-2010, 12:42 PM
Ok... Jenova says only one line in the game. What is that line and when does Jenova say it?

execrable gumwrapper
08-17-2010, 03:21 PM
"...you are a puppet"

It's either that or simply "...a puppet"

And it's after the fight with JENOVA-LIFE (ironic name, if you ask me)

Darth Revan
08-18-2010, 01:55 PM
"Beacause, you are......a puppet" was what was said (the PC version was spelled properly) in the PSX version.

You got close, so next question is yours swami.

Ooh, didn't catch that misspelling when I wrote my guide to the script differences between the two a while back. Good catch.

If you debug/use a gameshark to keep Aerith alive, there are a few places after she "dies" where she still speaks as if the programmers intended for her to either live longer, or be resurrected in one build of the game.

Name one instance she speaks.

Okay, in the puzzle with the air vent ducts and the coupons on the 63rd floor of the Shinra Building, what are the three prizes you can obtain?

Meltigemini
08-22-2010, 11:16 AM
All materia, Four Slots, Star Pendant.

Agent0042
08-22-2010, 11:00 PM
:) Correct, your go.

Meltigemini
08-27-2010, 09:10 AM
Sorry for the wait guys. :/

Keeping with the theme, what items can you get from the lockers on the 64th floor?

Enkidoh
08-27-2010, 09:28 AM
Potion and Phoenix Down if my memory serves me correctly, along with HP Shout, Cait Sith's ultimate weapon (which you can only get on disc 2 during the raid on Midgar).

But I'm probably wrong on the first two. :p

Meltigemini
08-28-2010, 12:21 PM
HP Shout and Phoenix Down are right but Potion is wrong, there's one more. :p

Enkidoh
08-31-2010, 12:17 AM
I'm going to toss up between Hi Potion or Turbo-Ether then. I remember it being a restorative item of some sort, I just can't remember what it was. :p

Meltigemini
08-31-2010, 11:13 PM
Nope, just a plain old regular Ether. :p Go ahead though, you got the rest right.

Enkidoh

What are the two accessories that can be stolen from Ultimate WEAPON at different times in the game?

Withope
09-07-2010, 10:22 AM
Curse Ring and Bolt Ring?

Enkidoh
09-07-2010, 02:49 PM
Cursed Ring is correct, but Bolt Ring isn't. Good guess though.

Hint: the second accessory gives a positive status effect if equipped.

Withope
09-09-2010, 01:13 PM
Reflect Ring!

Enkidoh
09-10-2010, 03:02 AM
Correct! Incidentally, you can steal the Cursed Ring only the first time you fight it in Mideel in disc 2 (while Cloud is comatose) - Reflect Rings can be stolen each other time you fight it while chasing it around the world in the Highwind in disc 3. :)

Anyway, your go Withope. =)

Withope
09-10-2010, 06:56 AM
Yes, I remember being severely disappointed when I would steal the Reflect Ring from ULTIMATE WEAPON.

Which summons cast negative status effects upon your enemies - along with damage?

Darth Revan
09-10-2010, 09:57 AM
Only two I think... Choco/Mog and Hades.

Choco/Mog with light damage and chance of inflicting Stop on enemies.
Hades deals non-elemental damage to all enemies, inflicts Poison, Confusion, Sleep, Silence, Mini, Frog, Slow, and Paralysis.

Withope
09-10-2010, 10:11 AM
Yee.

Your turn.

Darth Revan
09-11-2010, 01:04 AM
Simple question, in the game how many Enemy Skill Materia are available and where do you find them?

Meltigemini
09-11-2010, 11:47 AM
Shinra HQ after Sample battle
Intermediate Hall in Junon (or whatever it's called)
City of the Ancients in the room you sleep in
Chocobo Sage's house

That makes four total.

Darth Revan
09-11-2010, 01:32 PM
Meltigemini is correct, your turn.

Meltigemini
09-11-2010, 03:36 PM
How many sectors are there in Midgar?

Enkidoh
09-12-2010, 03:46 AM
Nine, including Sector 0, the city's 'hub', where the Shinra Building is located, although that number drops to eight once Sector 7's plate collapses. Sector 6 is also never completed, although the slum areas below it are inhabited (i.e: Wall Market). But I'm being pedantic here. :p

Meltigemini
09-12-2010, 01:30 PM
Yep that's right, was hoping someone would fall into the trap and say 8 ;) your go.

Enkidoh
09-13-2010, 05:20 AM
According to Cloud, and apart from a lot of graffiti, what is crudely written on the sign near the item shop in the Sector 7 Slums?

Hint: you can check it after Cloud spends the night at Seventh Heaven upon returning from the Number 1 Reactor.

Bonus points if you can get the exact quote. ;)

09-24-2010, 04:22 AM
Enkidoh, you have pwned me.

I remember reading it through my first or second run-through of the game, but I really can't recall what it said. For some reason a statement which is crude comes to mind. And I do not have any PlayStation nor FFVII to test it out, the YouTube walkthroughs, and google isn't helping neither.

And I do not see anyone else taking a stab at it so...what exactly does it say?

Darth Revan
09-24-2010, 05:04 AM
Some sort of AVALANCHE propaganda of Barret's or something.

Enkidoh
09-24-2010, 08:17 AM
Yeah, DH got it, it's propaganda for AVALANCHE:

That screenshot is from the PC version though, as I think there is some slight differences in the quote. But fundamentally they're basically the same.

Anyway, I already told DH the answer a while ago over the phone so DH's answer doesn't count. Hence, it's a free question to whoever wants it. :)

JohnnyMercyside
10-20-2010, 12:41 PM
Name all the Weapons in the game.

Enkidoh
10-20-2010, 11:49 PM
Sapphire, Ultimate, Diamond, Emerald and Ruby.

It's worth noting though that Sapphire Weapon was never actually named in the game (it's the first one seen that attacks Junon only to be destroyed by the Sister Ray), but it was apparently named as such in the Ultimania guide, so given the lack of in-game name it's just easier to refer it as this. ;)

execrable gumwrapper
10-21-2010, 01:31 AM
Sapphire was the best Weapon :<

JohnnyMercyside
10-21-2010, 08:29 AM
Absolutely correct Enkidoh, do you want a go? :)

Enkidoh
10-21-2010, 10:19 AM
Sure. :D

There's two things that are not quite right in this image (although they're both connected to each other). What are they?

Hint: one of them might be difficult to notice at first, but is obvious once you realize it. ;)

JohnnyMercyside
10-21-2010, 12:28 PM
Hmmm well Aerith shouldn't be able to summon Phoenix because she died before you get it, the other thing I'm not sure.

Enkidoh
10-21-2010, 12:43 PM
That's correct. :D

The second one is related to the setting of that battle (you might have to look really hard at the battle's terrain in that pic to get the answer.)

Agent0042
10-21-2010, 04:13 PM
Is she in the Northern Cave?

Enkidoh
10-21-2010, 04:53 PM
Yep, you got it Agent. :D

And yes, I hacked her back into the party with a save file trainer for that screenshot (using the PC version) - I think it was a Master Tonberry which took out Cloud in that battle. :p

Anyway, as you both one part of the question right, whoever wants to post a question first can have it. :D

JohnnyMercyside
10-22-2010, 09:13 AM
What's the name of Cloud's sword that you get at the start of the Nibelheim mountains?

Enkidoh
10-29-2010, 06:17 PM
The Rune Blade.

Rather appropriate too, given Nibelheim's name origins lie in Norse mythology. ;)

JohnnyMercyside
10-29-2010, 11:43 PM
Nice one, your turn. :)

Enkidoh
10-31-2010, 12:55 AM
Okay. :)

What is the way to get the elixir that is just out of reach on top of the cupboard in a house in Kalm?

Agent0042
10-31-2010, 03:11 AM
Don't you basically just have to keep trying and eventually Cloud will either kick it down or knock it down?

Enkidoh
10-31-2010, 10:34 AM
Yep, that's correct. It's something like 50 times you have to try and then Cloud will get angry and kick the cupboard, toppling the elixir to the floor. :)

Your go Agent.

JohnnyMercyside
10-31-2010, 10:44 AM
You only have to do it 5 times I'm sure, not 50! :p

Agent0042
11-01-2010, 12:14 AM
All right, give me three locations that you can end up at at the end of the snowboarding sequence.

Enkidoh
11-07-2010, 06:20 AM
The entrance to Great Glacier (near a location with a sign that says 'Icegate' on it), where you can return to the world map if you wanted; in the middle of a forest where a path to the northwest forks into paths to the northeast and southeast; and finally a spot near the hot springs where there's a single pine tree. I think there's a fourth location you can land, but I can't remember where it is exactly.

Agent0042
11-07-2010, 06:57 AM
Those will work! Your go.

Enkidoh
11-10-2010, 04:49 PM
Somewhere in FFVII there is a name reference to a character from FFIV. Who is it and where is this reference found?

Hawkeye_1138
11-11-2010, 05:27 AM
The Highwind airship/Cid Highwind is named after Dragoon Kain Highwind and the spell Meteor fucks your shit up,

Enkidoh
11-11-2010, 09:34 AM
Good guess, but that's not actually the name I'm looking for (the name Highwind has appeared in FFII and V as well as FFIV).

And Meteor is a reoccurring spell throughout the series too so that doesn't count either.

The character name I'm looking for only appeared in FFIV.

the tonberry is located in the northern crater on the third disc and is located in the left path where the "mega all" materia, and the creature has 30,000 hp.

Agent0042

Mog is a Final Fantasy VI character. Unfortunately, I haven't played IV in ages. Hmm... isn't one of Cid's weapons a Kain's Lance?

JohnnyMercyside
11-12-2010, 01:59 PM
Damn I read it wrong, I'm not even dyslexic! My bad...

Enkidoh
11-12-2010, 04:16 PM
Sort of Agent - Cid has a weapon called the Dragoon Lance, which might be a reference to Kain, but it's again not the answer I'm looking for.

I may as well give a hint: this reference occurs in disc 1.

FF1WithAllThieves

Ahem. Is it one of the things in Dio's showroom?

I think I have it, sort of. It's something mentioned in the play during the date. Damn if I can recall exactly what, though. Perhaps the name of either the king, the wizard, or the knight?

Enkidoh
11-17-2010, 05:39 PM
Ooo, you're so close, but so far! Right setting, but wrong characters, and you still don't have the name of the FFIV character mentioned! :D

But, it is indeed during the play - that's all I'll mention as anything more will give it away. :p
