Well, this made up my mind. I'm getting a Xbox360. While a lot of games I can play on my Gaming PC, Xbox360 has a lot of other exclusive games that's worth getting the system like GTA4(with bonus content), Halo 3, Burnout Paradise, GOW2, and now Final Fantasy XIII. With the inclusion of decent JRPG's like Star Ocean 4 and others that already came out like Blue Dragon, the PS3 is officially the loser of this console cycle. This reminded me of Resident Evil 4. First it was an Gamecube exclusive, but then the PS2 got the game, and that was the nail in the coffin for that system. They really needed to keep Final Fantasy XIII, now it's looking very downhill for Sony. The gaming industry only cares about profit, and the PS3 ain't generating the cash third party developers need to turn a profit. It's a shame, I wanted to get a PS3. Maybe they will comeback strong in the future, but I doubt it, especially if MGS4 goes to the 360 too. 5 disc or 20 disc, people will buy the game.

How does giving access to more players showing they do not care about their customers? All it does is make SONY defenders mad. It is not an XBOX exclusive, it's a multi-platform. It's just selling on a platform that does not have a lot to offer. Therefore it is really unlikely that a person will pick up a PS3 because they want FFXIII. Which does ultimately screw SONY.

Also here's a major hint, even though businesses are based on customer service (and borderline appeasement). They do not care for YOUR preference. They picked the way that would get them more money and a bigger fanbase. Only person that should be mad is SONY's marketing team. They should also kill themselves because they went and destroyed Sony's "Best selling system" legacy.

I've always been with SONY, but I've known I was getting a 360 for a while now, this only sweetens the deal. Only reason I wanted a PS3: Star Ocean 4, and FFXIII, KH3, and others. Sure FFXIII hasn't yet grabbed my goat and the prospect of leaping into another FF sends sickly chills down my gullet but I'm sure upon release I'll be a little hyped up. This new must really be a heavy blow to the PS3s market. I can only imagine that a sizable chunk of the FF fanatics that have a 360 were gearing up to shell out for a PS3 just for this. I guess Square-Enix saw the light and realized that having FFXIII exclusively on PS3 wouldn't make a substantial profit in the west.

To be more precise it didn�t. From technical aspect PS3 is better than the 360 just like the first Xbox was better than the PS2. I believe that�s a fact. And I also believe that it is games that make each console. A console by itself doesn�t mean much. Like in this occasion if a console gets more support from developers, it�s only natural to become more succesful. If the future holds any surprises we�ll just wait and see. But I sincerely hope that these surprises will not be something like � FFXVI is an Xbox 360 exclusive � and well, you get the idea.

As for FFXIII we�ll see in which platform it sells more. I don�t think it will sell more on the PS3 but you never know. Plus if it does then that means that Sony is still here (somewhere).

When I was deciding which console to get I looked at the exclusives, the 360 had halo 3 and Gears of war 2 which I would have liked to get but the PS3 had FFXIII which I would want more than both of them, so I chose the PS3.

QFT. The PS3 may have a lot of processing power, but the mistake Sony made was not realizing nowadays its the GPU that's most important in videogames today not the CPU. The PS3 GPU is based on an old GeForce 7 Series graphics card which has it's limits. The Xbox360 has a custom made top of the line GPU based on the HD Series of ATI cards. It's very current. Therefore Xbox360 games often look superior to PS3. The best looking PS3 games really just break even with the 360, it never surpasses it.

Sony just dropped the ball with the PS3 and Microsoft recovered it.

The way the gaming market has changed I really can't blame Square. Final Fantasy isn't what it used to be since Hironobu Sakaguchi, Nobuo Uematsu and Yoshitaka Amano all stopped working together at Square Soft. They were like my Michael Jordan, Scotty Pippen and Denis Rodman of the Bulls. Square is hurting for money and had to make what I'm sure to them was an easy decision since this is a business and can care less about the fanboy-ism.

Buying a console just for Final Fantasy is retarded, although it was not my only reason, I am however guilty of it being one of my main reasons for purchasing a PS3. And in a year and a half since purchasing a PS3 things have changed. I'm looking forward to Resistance 2, LittleBigPlanet and a few other new IPs more then Final Fantasy XIII. Even Metal Gear Solid 4 made me forget about FF13. I don't know why but FF just isn't fun to me anymore. I think the Metroid and WipEout series still remain to be my favorite.

Only questions that still remain is: How much HDD space will be needed for install and how many discs will FFXIII take on the 360.

Here's the thing there's a bit of a difference. There's a difference between buying a system and an underlying reason for doing it was one game. Let's say you pick up a PS3 because you want it for it's line up and your like, "oh yeah FFXIII is exclusive for it, I guess I'll pick that up", that's ok. At $400.00 each system, I dont think its that serious, I have plenty of quality games to play on PS3, many more to buy & a few more to look fwd to....

At least our life support does not include mailing it back 2 or 3 times during the warranty period that had to be extended by the guys who made the machine because it was DAO and they knew it. Good luck with your copy of FFXIII on the 360 but what you going to play it on when the warranty runs out and you use it as door stop next to you XBOX.

Losing exclusivity will really damage Sony's sales (although do not underestimate the power of the Sony fans/boys) but it's not like that is a final blow. Ever since it came out there was this unexplained fuss going around that PS3 worths shit and it has shitty games and bullshit like that while it was only at the beginning of its lifespan. Hell, it still is. As is Wii and Xbox 360. There are still not that many games out there to say for sure where each console is heading. Sony still has Tekken 6, Gran Turismo 5 and God of War III. These are great franchises with a big fanbase. Especially Gran Turismo which is one of the best selling franchises in all of Sony's history. There is also Metal Gear Solid 4 which that as well is still an exclusive and nothing has been announced so far (delaying an Xbox release until more PS3 are sold would be a great policy for Sony - but who knows if that's how it is). There is also Heavy Rain in the distance from the creators of Fahrenheit. As for Versus and maybe an upcoming Kingdom Hearts game, no one can tell but these as well are PS3 exclusives unless/(until) stated otherwise.

As it stands, the PS3 currently has the weakest gaming library and the highest cost, and those two really don't go well together. I'm sure some people like their PS3 more than any other console for its gaming library, but the others consoles offer a much more diverse library that it just appeals more to the general public. If you have a PS3 and love it, great. But it's likely the PS3 isn't going to do well since every third-party developer seems to either be jumping ship of going multi-platform.

QFFT! The only reason I'm buying a system now is because my friend really wants to play me. I usually wait a year or two.

I bought my PS3 for a couple of reasons:

1) Xbox 360 exclusives didn't interest me
2) Games that did interest me were multi-plat
3) The reliability is much higher for the PS3. (ironically though, my blu-ray drive crapped out on me... been fixed though, so w00t)

Thank you. Not only is there nothing wrong with waiting, it's just good common sense. People who say "you don't own any of the consoles, so you don't have a right to talk", are just as stupid as people who buy a console when it first comes out, just for one game. I don't hate these fanboys though, because I use to be a Sega fanboy back when the Saturn came out, but the death of the system, and the powerfully growing PSX library made me switch.

Not to mention Final Fantasy VII, before it was pathetically overrated.

Same for me man, I procured a 360 b/c all of my friends had one. There are fun games on every platform, but xbox really set the online trend into motion, with sony and nintendo playing catch-up. Everyone loved the initial online aspect with halo and such, so we all migrated from seeing/playing xbox to actually buying a 360.

And now with so many more ppl having 360's than xboxes, the thing I will remember most from this generation of consoles is the fact that I can hit up friends who live across the country for a quick game.

You got it right, there'll be no 360 version released in Japan. Japan will receive the PS3 version only while NA and EU will get the 360/PS3 versions sometime later. I guess there's no 360 version presumably because of a poor market for the console in the East.

Since when is the PS3 on life support. From what I've heard the PS3 sold more than the 360 in 2007 and is currently selling more in Japan and Europe. I've also heard that the PS3 sold more in it's first year than the 360 did. I'll try and find sources for you.

I hardly ever lag when playing online and my internet speed is only 8mb. Also I play wirelessly and to play wirelessly on the 360 (not sure about the elite version) you need to spend something like $60 for a wirelessly adaptar.

8mb is a very sound connection, you should not experience major lag. I'd be surprised if you did. Not everybody has that though, I for one have a 756k connection, there are people with 3mb connections and etc. The Sony online is less helpful to those on the lower side of bandwidth.

I wouldn't say that shows arrogance. Anyway. I don't know if I'm a proud PS3 owner but I don't regret buying it either. And I don't mind having bought it four months after launch and paying full price because I got the 60GB model which you can't or is pretty rare to find in my country now. The reason I bought a PS3 was (is) to play the exclusives it has and in the case of FFXIII and games that are not out yet to play the exclusives it would/will have. Am I satisfied? Yes and no. I'm happy that I can play the exclusives on the PS3 but on the other hand all consoles and handhelds have exclusive games I want to play. There may be at least 4-5 games for each system that I'd like to play. So it's not like if I had bought an Xbox I would be satisfied with the games it had or because it seems that it's winning over PS3. I can still aim to buy a Wii (already have Zelda) and a 360 which kinda seems unavoidable but this is a double-edged sword cause buying more systems than one means less money to spent on games. Well, what can you do. As for the PS3 death I doubt it will happen but if it does it's not like it's gonna happen tomorrow (unless Sony really gives up). And if it does I'll give to you that you were right - and you can keep your name =) . Still I really think that an "All Seeing Eye" should see past the obvious.

Almost every person in my school who I know who owns a PS3 (around 20 in all) haven't even heard of Final Fantasy before. Sure it's a pretty small scale but it's odd that nobody I know is talking about this news.

I also agree that this "PS3 IS DEAD" crap is utter rubbish. PS3 consoles will still be made, games for it will still be made and people will still buy the consoles and the games, my PS3 has been working perfectly since this news came out and it certainly isn't dead.

Anyone with half a brain knows that Versus XIII's exclusivity will depend on how XIII performs on 360. That's why development resources were shifted over to XIII in the first place, to get that game out first and test the waters before completely committing to multi-platform development.

Seriously, I'm getting a Xbox360 this holiday season. It has FFXIII as well as many other games I want to play like SO4, GOW2, Ninja Gaiden II, DOA4, etc. I was holding out for a PS3, but now I don't see a reason to get one, yet. But the biggest reason? Xbox Live Arcade. The exclusive remake of classic arcade games speaks to this seasoned gamers heart.
