I'm not sure if these need approval but if they do then sue me. I just assumed since they aren't as organized as rumbles and gillionaire and such.

Simply, I ask a question, whoever gets it right gets to do another question and so on.

Let's begin with one not so hard, shall we:

What's the earliest point in the game, STORY wise, where you can get the Zodiac Spear?

In other words, name the two earliest story-advancing events getting the spear can take place between.

Theta Sigma

You don't need to post to say you have no idea. Do it again, and I will delete said post. KK?

the chest in front of the store in the city place underneath Dalmasca (i think that's the name of the first city. i forgot all the names) if you open it, which is connected to 3 other chests scattered throughout Ivalice, you lose the easiest chance to get the Zodiac Spear.

i pass on my question. anyone else can go.

edit: the question's wording is kind of confusing, so just in case: it can be found in necrohol of nabudis. you find one of the espers there, zeromus, i think. it's in a room with like, 14 chests, and the spear is in there.

After Raithwall's Tomb and before you head through Giza during the Rains. At this point you can move Gibbs and Deweg out of the way from the Mosphoran Highwaste, which let's you move into the Salikawood and to the Necrohol.

IIRC.

Yep, Neg is correct.

Alright, since Neg is supposedly on hiatus I'll post another question.

Where can you find an Archadian Gentry that STAYS an "Archadian Gentry" when you talk to them?

Slavka

The Tchita Uplands - the man who gives you the 'bill' for the Sochen Cave Palace Mandragoras. I think the exact location is a spring or something.

Sorry, that guy's title isn't "Gentry".

In Archades/Old Archades everyone is an "Archadian Gentry" or "Ardent" until you talk to them. However, someone keeps their Archadian Gentry name. I probably should have said it was somewhere in the city.

You forgot "Archadian Vulgar". Anyway, there is a man in the "Grand Archade" area (you have to talk to the lady that takes you from the streets to the subway station looking area to get there) who is talking about traveling. He is talking to some woman up against a wall. He is the one who doesn't change is name from "Archadian Gentry".

Ashe as Amalia, Larsa as Lamont, Zecht as Reddas and Vaan as Captain Basch Fon Rosenberg.

I'm sure you're mistaken there.

The only themes I never heard in the game that are on the OST are:

- Mission Failed
- Chocobo FFXII Arrange Ver. 1
- Theme of FINAL FANTASY XII (Production Announcement Version)

Other then those (and I'm not quite sure about Mission Failed), all the tracks can be heard at some point in the game.

4: A Small Happiness

Five of those are correct, "You're Really a Child" is played when Vaan asks Fran her age.

And Hynad, there are six.

Hynad
08-19-2008, 05:11 PM
A small Happiness can be heard in a fade out effect near the beginning of the game.
You're Really a child plays when Vaan asks about the age of Fran when they come out of Eruyt Village on their first visit.

Checking the exact location of those songs. I'll update as I manage to locate the exact spots.

I don't have my PS2 right now, but I think Abyss plays in an optional dungeon (or an optional PART of a dungeon).

I know the faq you use, and you should realize that even the author states that it is not complete.

Hynad, I actually just played through the game so I could take down when each track is played. I barely used that FAQ. I know which one you have in mind, I did refer to it once or twice when having trouble figuring out what's played in certain places. But that was only a last resort, like if I sat through a scene and wasn't able to work out what everything I heard in it was when I was playing, I'd just listen to it on youtube and compare it to BlueLaguna.

AND I was hoping to prove the Faq wrong about the tracks not featured in the game, but amazingly, even after doing everything there is to do in the game, I did not hear any of them.

Though, I DID find some references that that FAQ was missing. He was right in saying it was incomplete. But, having just played through the game in search of them, I can testify that they aren't there.

So in that case, Hynad, where exactly is the "Small Happiness" fadeout? Youtube link, plz. I believe all scenes in the game have been youtubed, so, find me the link.

I know that when Kytes leaves the sewers and that conversation after the Rat-hunting, you hear "Dalmasca Estersand", and that wasn't mentioned in the faq, for one.

Yes, it was a cockatrice. But, he referred to it as a chocobo, so thats why I said "chocobo" with the quotes.

3 each of Gemsteel, Empyreal Soul, and Serpentarius.

As for making these, the grand totals stack up to selling: 2 Scarletite, 4 Damascus Steel, 4 Hell-Gate's Flame, 2 Soul Powder, 4 Wargod's Band, 3 High Arcana, 12 Snake Skin, 6 Serpent Eye, 1 Empyreal Soul, and finally 1 Gemsteel.

In the South Bank Village, you meet a women (This is Dantro's wife). She tells you about a traveler who has taken ill and that she is looking after. She asks you to collect some ingredients for her, in order to make a concoction that will help ease the traveler's pain.

There are three outcomes for this. The amount of ingredients you give her changes the race of the traveler.

What are the ingredients you need in order to make it so the traveler is a Moogle? (The Moogle is the result you get by acquiring all the ingredients)

Bonus points for naming the items you receive if you get the Moogle!

Slavka
10-10-2008, 10:55 PM

13 is the maximum number of ingredients you can give her, yes. The Nidhog's skin counts for 3 of those. But can you name the other ingredients? I'll give a clue. There are 5 of one thing, 2 of another, and 3 of something else..ultimately adding up to 13, including the Nidhog's skin.

You're right about the items. You do indeed get the Barheim Key and a Golden Amulet.

You guys are right, I did receive credit for "weathervein". But a weather vane (yes, I misspelled it in the original post) and a wind vane are the same thing. If you search Wikipedia you can see for yourself:

It clearly states "A weather vane, also called a wind vane, is a movable device attached to an elevated object such as a roof for showing the direction of the wind."

I did realize my mistake, but I did not say anything because I figured that he knew what I meant.

What title do you get for obtaining the Ba'gamnan figurine in the Sky Pirate's Den (eg. you get 'Spellsinger' for obtaining Fran)?

RikkuYunaRinoa
10-19-2008, 01:17 PM
Scrivener.

You get it by completing the bestiary.

Zak
10-19-2008, 02:09 PM
You totally looked that up. :P

Though I remembered it was the bestiary completion (cause he was who I got LAST), I couldn't remember the title itself for the life of me.

Slavka
10-19-2008, 09:12 PM
Yep, Flux got it. I only remember the title myself cos' I just got it. Anyway, your turn to ask!

RikkuYunaRinoa
10-19-2008, 11:11 PM
Cool.

How many hunt noticeboards are there throughout Ivalice? And what are the locations of them?

If you can name the place as well as the town/city. You get extra points.

This isn't that hard a question. It just may require some exploration! Get your XII copies out people! ;)

Zak
10-19-2008, 11:32 PM
Montblanc doesn't count, right?

But anyway I believe they have them in all the *BIG* Cities (those with every kind of shop and an aerodrome). That being:

Rabanastre
Archades
Bhujerba
Nalbina
Balfonheim

And other than those, there's the one in the Phon Coast.

So, that's 6. 7 if you count Montblanc, so I'm not sure which answer you're looking for, but I named them all so I believe that should be good enough.

RikkuYunaRinoa
10-20-2008, 12:00 AM
Yep. You're correct.

You have:-

Rabanastre - The Sandsea
Nalbina - Jajim Bazaar
Bhujerba - The Cloudborne (where you're taken for telling people not to believe Ondore's lies!)
Phon Coast - Hunter's Camp
Archades - Granch's Requisites
Balfonheim Port - The Whitecap (Incedently, this happens to be one of my favorite places in the game. It's the kind of place, that if i were a NPC in a game, I'd like to spend my time :p)

Your turn, Zak! :)

Ok well its been like 3 weeks so I'm gonna ask a question to keep this thread alive.

After defeating the 'Diabolos' mark, where does the key the boy dropped end up?

Is that the one you find on the Phon Coast, in the Hunter's Camp?

Actually Famfrit is still technically optional, because you CAN defeat Cid without defeating Famfrit.

Have you ever done that or seen anyone do that? Youtube proof?

I don't think that's possible because as far as I remember, Cid is invincible once Famfrit is out, until Famfrit is dead.

wolfmaster913
11-07-2008, 05:21 PM
I was counting Famfrit as required because I had never heard of killing Cid without beating Famfrit. But if someone can find proof that it can be done then by all means please do so. As of now though I would have to say that Slavka got it right. Sorry Flux.

11-07-2008, 10:56 PM
Where can you talk to the Wyrm Philosopher (throughout the game)?

Zak
11-07-2008, 10:59 PM
On top of a windmill obviously... and one other place before the event starts... grr where was it again. In the Balfonheim bar?

The windmill, yes... Not the bar - think further back.

RikkuYunaRinoa
11-09-2008, 12:37 PM
The westgate in Rabanstre?

I may be thinking of a different guy. But I'm associating him with the Earth Tyrant. Is it the guy you speak to to start the Earth Tyrant quest?

Slavka
11-09-2008, 09:59 PM
No, that's the natural philosopher. The Wyrm Philosopher is related to the Vyraal, if that helps.

Zak
11-10-2008, 12:33 AM
I DO remember seeing him in the game at some point before the event started during my second playthrough. Where was it again... grr...

I don't think he was anywhere in Archades, if he was I'd remember his name getting changed.

And if his location has something to do with the Vyraal... well, I'm pretty sure the other place is not anywhere in Cerobi Steppe. He's not anywhere in Sochen... was he near one of the save points at Tchita Uplands?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure you meet him before the event starts, right? And... that would be before going to Archades, because after you do everything at Draklor it takes you straight to Balfonheim and the event is available.

Slavka
11-10-2008, 10:58 PM
You do meet him before the event starts, but not in any of the areas you mentioned.

11-10-2008, 11:11 PM

Slavka, where In England do you live so I can hunt you down for asking such a hard question? :p I'm actually playing FF XII at the moment and I don't recall coming across him. Although I'm only up to the first time you arrive at Phon Coast, so maybe that's why.

:3

Only 7 of those are correct, the ones I bolded.

First of all I asked for weapons, not ammo (though the two ammos you mentioned are available on Cerobi Steppe an infinite amount of times)

Zodiac Spear can be gotten with the Diamond Armlet in a regenerating chest in the Henne Mines an infinite amount of times, though 1/1000 chance each but still not finite!
Euclid's Sextant and Holy Rod are also in regenerating chests in Cerobi Steppe.
Danjuro is hard to get, but it's dropped by a monster that can be fought an infinite amount of times, so technically the weapon is also infinite. Same with the Iga and Koga Blades (there's another Iga Blade in Garamsythe anyway) they are dropped by the Ash Wyrm and the Bogey (or whatever the Lich-monster in the Zertinan Caverns is).
As for Staff of the Magi, Luxollid is not a trophy rare game so you can fight it over and over again and get more Staffs of the Magi.
Finally Mythril Sword can be dropped by Omega Mark XII, for some reason.

So 10 more...

wolfmaster913

wolfmaster913
12-04-2008, 09:41 PM
Ok, I finally got to pop the disc into my PS2 and see the scene again. I found a few places where it is hinted that he stole the pouch.

Penelo: What do you mean “yours”? You’ve been stealing again. What happens if they catch you?

-and-

Penelo: I thought that this money was the people of Dalmasca’s property. The Imperials stole it from us, so it’s only fair that we take it back.

While both of these point out the fact that he stole the pouch from the imperial (plus the fact that he is carrying the pouch), I am sure that the one you were looking for is the second quote I have.

RikkuYunaRinoa

Those are from the scene where he steals it.

There is another reference later in the game.

Clue #1 :

It involves July The Streetear

RikkuYunaRinoa

In the interest of keeping this thread going, I'll just give the answer.

In the weapon store found in Archades, you meet July again(You help her outside Nalbina early in the game). She thanks you for the help you gave her, and gives you something. If you talk to her again, you hear that she is about to start work investigating the snatching of an Imperial's coin purse back in Rabanastre.

I don't remember the entire conversation, but we as the player know that it's the coin purse Vaan stole.

She gives you a Salamand Halcyon, iirc.

I do not believe that I have ever talked to her in the weapon shop. That's good to know that she gives me a Salamand Halcyon for helping her though.

Yeah, that's the only Halcyon that there's a second way to get.

Anyone gonna do one??

RikkuYunaRinoa

wolfmaster913
07-29-2009, 06:12 PM
Would it be Yiazmat's coliseum area?

Zak
07-29-2009, 09:30 PM
Nah, I'm looking for an entire named location that would change. Not just one screen, because then you could say Gilgamesh as well.

But also, I'm not even talking about during the battle. Before the battle even takes place, it's one thing. Then after the battle is won, it's something else.

Zak

I will add a hint. The place where the music changes is different from location where the battle triggering that is.

Arcanine
07-31-2009, 10:44 PM
Visitor on Deck hunt: Deathgaze?

the location at least changes because it's during an airship trip from one city to another, or is that too obvious and not the right answer?

Zak
07-31-2009, 11:12 PM
No. I said, the place where the music changes is different from the location where the battle takes place. But, upon winning the hunt, it makes it change.

Also, the airship played the same thing before the hunt took place. The one in question, doesn't.

Let me lay it out. The place plays one thing before a certain hunt is even available. Once the hunt is over and done with, it changes.

The third descent, Penumbra, Shadow Seer?

after defeating the mark the area's music turns all tranquil until you go back into the rest of the Ridorana Cataract dungeon area?

Zak
08-04-2009, 08:05 PM
Actually Shadowseer is in a fourth descent beyond Penumbra called "Hell's Challenge", which only consists of a small round room (the battlefield) and cannot be accessed again after beating Shadowseer. So, no.
But no, Ashe's Theme still plays in the Subterra anyway after that. I'm looking for a place where it's PERMANENTLY different after the defeat of this mark, than it was before this mark was posted.

Mt. Bur-Omisace after beating the Behemoth King? I know that you have to go back there to claim your 500,000 gil from the statue, but I can't remember if the music was different or not.

Zak
08-26-2009, 02:40 AM
The Behemoth King is in the Feywood... I assume you meant Fafnir since your talking about the statue, eh? That's the reward for Fafnir.

What the hell, I'll give it to you since I find it difficult to imagine you actually meant the Behemoth King from the Feywood, seeing as you're talking about Mt. Bur Omisace and the statue.

But yes, beating Fafnir changes the music in Mt. Bur Omisace. It changes it from "White Room" to "Abandoning Power", or the other way around.
I will add, however, that defeating Judge Bergan also changes Bur Omisace's music. Whatever it was when you first arrive there is the same piece that's played after you defeat Fafnir, and something different is played there in between those two events.

Anyway, your go.

wolfmaster913
08-26-2009, 03:31 AM
Actually, I did mean Behemoth King. I just checked 3 different guides (2 online and my physically owned one) and they all reaffirmed that it is after the Behemoth King that you get the 500,000 gil and a Rod of Faith. But I guess I did get the location right. I chose him because you said it was a completely separate place, and I knew he tied back into Bur-Omisace. Anyway:

All Espers come into battle with at least one status effect on them: Libra. Of all of the other status effects there is only one which is exclusive to an Esper (meaning only one Esper automatically has this on him/her when he/she is summoned). Which Esper gets this and what is the status effect?

I'm pretty sure that the public airship "set group of people" isn't determined by the ROUTE, that's only the sisters and for the Ann's Letter sidequest. The group of people is determined by the destination, and nothing else, regardless of where you're flying from, it's all about where you're going TO. Like if you're going to Archades, you'll have a group of NPCs that talk about why they're going there. Same with each of the other places. You can have gone on every route and still have not met a group of NPCs, like if all the routes you went on connecting to Archades you used for the letter sidequest were departing FROM Archades, you'll complete the sidequest without ever having met the Archades airship NPCs.

So, as far as airships go, there would be a total of FIVE different environments and groups of NPCs to meet, one for each of the five places. So, my guess is, any ship going to Balfonheim?

I guess you could give it to Agent if that's true, but I gave a more precise answer :P
It wouldn't be just Archades to Balfonheim, it would be anywhere to Balfonheim.

Nope, sorry, nothing to do with Balfonheim.

Agent0042

Well, then how about on any ship going to Archades? This is pretty much a crapshoot at this point of trying to guess airships, unless somebody actually knows the answer.

Or... how about this? Whichever route ultimately ends up getting attacked by Deathgaze?

Slavka
09-05-2009, 09:33 PM
Not Archades, I'm afraid. Only three more locations left!

Zak
09-05-2009, 10:29 PM
Flying to Nalbina is my next guess.

Hah, and I forgot... there's six different airship scenarios. The five locations, and attacked by Deathgaze.

Slavka
09-06-2009, 09:11 PM
Yep, Zak got it! He's on the deck of the Nalbina-bound airship, complaining about how he somehow got drafted onto the labour crews. I always found his name funny... I'd have thought more people would recall him.

Zak
09-06-2009, 10:14 PM
Well, took us a while... heh.

Okay... in Archades, what would the Family-minded girl rather watch than the Mummer's performance?

Slavka

The mating dance of the Malboro!

Agent0042

A Senate debate?

Zak
09-10-2009, 05:56 AM
Wow, Slavka got it.

And it wasn't even cheatable using Google! I tried to find the exact quote myself but couldn't find a transcript anywhere, but yes I remembered it was something along the lines of the mating dance of the Malboro and that's the exact answer I was looking for.

Slavka

Heh, I just did the Chops side quest - I'd never have remembered it otherwise.

As for my question, try this:

Where was the following quote said (and who said it)?

"We are the arbiters of our own destiny."

Was it by Reddas in the Pharos?

Im 80% sure its Basch. But i cant remember where.

It sounds like something that Al-Cid might say. So maybe at Balfonheim?

Zak
09-12-2009, 06:47 PM
I'll throw Balthier out there since no one said it yet.

Slavka
09-12-2009, 08:44 PM
Well, Shadow mage has the first part - it is indeed Basch. If no one gets the location within a few days, he can have it.

Giruvegan, I suppose?

Slavka
09-13-2009, 07:33 PM
Yeah, that's it - right after Ashe gets her Treaty Blade.

Shadow mage

Okay Ionic Warrior can take it. (im not trying to be the boss here) But yeah he can have it.

Slavka

Here's a relatively easy one - which monster(s) give the highest amount of EXP in the game?

Agent0042
09-16-2009, 11:57 PM
Is it the Shield Wyrm?

Slavka
09-17-2009, 05:20 PM
No, sorry.

Ash Wyrm since it's stronger than the Sheild Wyrm.

Slavka
09-17-2009, 10:57 PM
No, I'm afraid not.

Agent0042

The Gizamaluk?

Zak

Etems?

Slavka
09-18-2009, 10:38 PM
Neither of them, sorry.

Zak

Aeronites? That's my next guess in line.

Slavka
09-18-2009, 11:13 PM
'Fraid not. Just to clarify, I am including Rare Game in this.

Zak
09-18-2009, 11:43 PM
I thought Rare Game only give LP? Or is that just the trophy ones?

Well then I guess Luxollid.

Slavka
09-18-2009, 11:48 PM
Luxollid is indeed one - which is the other?

For the record, Rare Game give EXP and LP, it's only Bosses and Marks that give only LP.

Zak
09-18-2009, 11:56 PM
Vagrant Soul?

Slavka
09-19-2009, 11:08 PM
Yep. Your turn.

Zak
09-22-2009, 07:41 AM
Okay, I don't know how many know about this, never heard it mentioned.

Much like the Zodiac Spear, where can you find a chest very early in the game that does NOT reappear, but you get cheap junk if you open it then, which screws you out of easily getting a very rare piece of equipment that there's a way to get easily if you wait until you have the Diamond Armlet to touch it? (not permanently missable obviously, there are other harder means of getting this).

Shadow mage
09-23-2009, 04:49 AM
Are you asking if theres another way to get the Zodiac Spear. If you are you can get one from the Henne Mines. After the secret area has been unlocked.

Agent0042
09-23-2009, 04:57 AM
No, he said "like the Zodiac Spear" -- that means he's talking about something else.

Slavka
09-23-2009, 10:31 PM
Hmm, I think there's a chest in the Garamsythe Waterway that fits Zak's description. If I'm not mistaken, it's in No. 10 Channel, and can contain an Iga Blade (or was it a Koga Blade?) when opened with a Diamond Armlet.

Agent0042
09-27-2009, 07:55 AM
Could we please get a response on whether Slavka's answer is correct. And, if it isn't, could we please have a hint?

Zak
09-27-2009, 07:47 PM
Sorry I was typing a response a few days ago, but my computer froze! I restarted and forgot all about it.

But anyway yes, that's correct! Wow, someone really knows their FFXII. There's an Iga Blade in the Garamsythe Waterway in one of the areas you pass during one of your first treks through there, and you can screw yourself out of if you don't wait until the DA, which like the Zodiac Spear you also have no way of knowing. Only other ways to get that are 50-50 Pilgrim's Door (that or Koga which is also rare) or hunting Bogeys in Zertinan.

Next question!
