I just checked said links...they are not working in either Firefox or Internet Explorer >.< For me anyways...not sure why.

That's what I get as well, except I'm using Opera 9.2 but I still get the same "Wrong link" deal when I click on Download Your File Here. I've never used this site before though, so... is there some trick to downloading these files that some of us aren't getting?

after listening to the album, i think the arrangements are great, but production-wise, they have the solo instruments/vocals too loud; would've been a stronger album with more subtle mixing. maybe that's just my personal preference. but anyone else feel this way?

i feel like some of the songs sound too much like the original compositions from the game with some guitars over them. i wish they sounded more like rock songs from previous albums.

but still a great album overall.

Actually, something of a dissappointment. These are more like the original themes rather than a reimaginationor reworking of the original material. In particular the final boss themes ("The Extreme" and "Grand Cross FF9") are particularily flat.

thankfully, not everything follows that formula. "Premonition" for example sounds rather nice, and the opera in great as well (is that Ultros singing?!).

Overall I wish they pushed themselves a bit harder (creatively speaking).

This album is just incredible. My favorite FF song, Assault of the White/Silver Dragons, was masterfully done, just incredible, and Bombing Mission also sounded very great. I like how they left the old school charm to these songs, it brings back memories. In my opinion, the previous albums were too metal for my FF tastes, like, FF6's battle song was too slow and heavy compared to the original composition. Anyways, in my opinion, Nobuo and the Black Mages outdid themselves. ANd thanks Roxas, for uploading this incredible album.

The assult of the silver dragons rocks. It was once again made perfect, although I thought that it can't be done. I wish they made the dark messenger one day...

After a first listen I would have to say that Distant Worlds [FFXI] is probably my favorite track on the CD. I may have been a bit biased by the fact that Chains of Promathia, which Distant Worlds is the ending theme for, was my favorite expansion of FFXI. The Extreme and Premonition from FFVIII were excellent as well as Assault of the Silver Dragons from FFIX. Hearing the opera scene from FFVI done in "Japanese rock opera" style was amusing. Overall a good effort by the Black Mages. ^^b

The Black Mages albums are well made, but they are not such a big deal.. Nothing spectacular, but some good compositions made rockish.
SSH made the best rendition of ultros theme.
Also, advent one winged angel is the exception of the rule.

For those who still haven't downloaded it via the RapidShare link, I'd like to mention two things. First of all, they still work as of this posting. Secondly, if you're not using "hacks" to get around the download limits, grab the 8MB file first. If you do that, the wait to download the much bigger file afterward will be far smaller (my wait, for example, was eight minutes).

One that immediately comes to mind was the FF6 Battle track from Part I. Way too slow for any battle track in my opinion...still not a bad song, but they could've done better than that by a mile. On the other end, Clash on the Big Bridge is still excellent to this day. There are tracks that I'll go immediately to when I pop in the CD, and others I avoid like the plague. So it's either feast of famine, so to speak.

Because of this, I also don't mind the occasional song that stays true to itself, like Grand Cross.

And I know this is a download page, but if you can, buy the CD. Speaking as an avid collector of BGM, it'll be a huge support to them in the long run. Despite my brief criticism, The Black Mages series are still 'must haves'. For some reason, I ordered mine, and got it the day before the release date. Imagine that.

Now that you mentioned it, I increased the tempo of some tracks myself, because they were kind of too slow. But still, just because they didn't meet our expectations with each track, doesn't mean they ruined them. I mean, I'd also like to see them trying hard with each track, as they did with AC: One winged angel, but it just doesn't work that way. P.S I'd love to buy the albums, but in some parts of the world, it's mission impossible...

That is correct. I don't think there are any travesties in the series by any means. They took risks in few places, where it works in some cases and doesn't in others. Some of the OSTs are so good, you're better off playing it a little bit safe when arranging them...again, sometimes it works out, others it becomes a bit bland. I don't see either scenario that's bad to the point where no one likes the song as a general consensus.

When it's all said and done, it would be interesting to get opinions as to which is the best of the three thus far.

As far as CD purchases (not pirated), there are numerous sources you can go to, such as CD Japan, Otaku.com, and even Ebay. Nowadays, it's almost mandatory that you have a credit card for purchases for this genre...so I can see where it would be hard for some.

Doesn't it rock though!? I loved the original. It has to be one of my favorite FF songs of all time. It's a good thing The Black Mages didn't change up the arrangement too much otherwise they might have butchered the song.

I don't know how to do that. I'm using foobar2000 to play and convert my FLAC files so if you know how to make those files you asked for through foobar please let me know. Otherwise I just have the individual tracks in FLAC, scans of the album, and a System Information File named "release".
