Golden Sun.zip (http://www.mediafire.com/?wknm5ewe5o1u57u)

This is the better version of Motoi Sakuraba's Golden Sun & Golden Sun: The Lost Age Original Sound Track. As there was no official release of the soundtrack, the community at www.goldensunrealm.com (Golden Sun Realms) - of which I was a member during the creation of this sound collection - made it ourselves. This is the OST that got me into the whole game music scene, so I can and will vouch for it's awesomeness (despite my Golden Sun Fanboyism).

Here is the Description from the Golden Sun Realms Site:

Thanks for downloading the Golden Sun OST composed by the one and only, Motoi Sakuraba! You can find information about the rest of his works at his English webpage.

Previously, with no knowledge of audio editing and recording, I did what I could and gave you the files. Many who had keen ears could hear the quality drop from the actual game, while I did not. Fear no more!

This is it. For the last time, to achieve the best quality possible, GoldenChaos used CaitSith2's GSF game rips and with the help of Alex Wolfe, converted them into what you have in front of you

# These are meant for your own personal use only.
# Golden Sun Realm doesn't claim any sort of Copyright.
# Don't try to make money off of them.
# They were recorded by a fan and brought for fans. Please help keep it that way!
# Lastly, thank you Golden Sun Network for inspiration on the soundtrack.

Wait, so these songs are better quality than the GBA version? Sweet.

That is the claim. The idea is this (if I remember correctly): load up the ROM in Visual Boy advance, go to the sound test, and record. If you want the higher quality, you set the sound options to 44khz, as opposed to the default 22khz. The description I posted says things were done differently in this case, but the tracks were still recorded at 44khz in the end. I am no audiophile, but the difference in quality was obvious to my ears, even though I had not listened to the original rip for some time when I first listened to this version.

That is because a few sound effects were stuck in at the end.

Why not just convert them to mp3 from the gsf set? It's better quality than and "rip".

For this set, they did. I just didn't notice until now because I was copy/pasting without reading. The original set was done the way I originally claimed, except at 22 khz

A nice soundtrack, with exeption of the awful quality (~ 60 kbits). Is there a chance of making this better?

Make your own. Get the GSF set, and find a way to convert it to flac, if you care so much about that. There is a version of this at 128kbps, but that sounds worse. Keep in mind that this is GBA sound quality at its finest, so 320 or flac is beyond overkill. Even if you made a flac version, it would be nothing compared to the quality of SNES instruments, because this is a GBA soundtrack.

But by all means, go for it. If you notice an improvement in a fresh rip to a higher bitrate, let us know. I don't mind being proven wrong.

I am all giddy at the thought of a higher quality rip than what I have right now. I hope that the one I have is in fact the inferior one. That would make my day. VP1 and Golden Sun 1 & 2 are my favorite OSTs that Motoi has done. Thanks!!!!

Downloading now ^^

Haha. Let them be, there ALWAYS will be people complaining about the quality.

Thanks much for that rip.

Check out Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria. The majority of the tracks are with an orchestra, but there are a few tracks that are throwbacks to his progressive rock era.

In any case, how good of a quality do you expect out of this? This, in the end, is a rip of a GBA soundtrack. There is a limit to how good the quality can be. It'll never be at the level of a N64/PSone soundtrack, much less the soundtracks of today. The only way we'll hear the soundtrack the way it's meant to be is if Sakuraba completely remixes/re-records it, which I only see happening if a Golden Sun anime or a Wii/DS game for the series gets made someday.

That make sense?

One That Night, 3 Years Ago is probably my favorite track of them all. I've never forgotten it from the moment I first heard it and I was kinda sad it never reappeared in The Lost Age alongside some of the other tracks from the first game.

Highly recommended to those who have been patiently waiting for a good sound source of the Golden Sun music to grab this.

winzip http://www.winzip.com/downwz.htm
OR
winrar http://download.cnet.com/WinRAR/3000-2250_4-10007677.html
(you need only one to open zip and rar files)
and open the file with one of those, then extract everything in it to where ever you want to put it.

Thanks for the upload! I am very grateful!

Hello, please could anyone re-upload the file, please ! Golden Sun 1 and 2 are my favourite japanese RPG, i love all the tracks of these games !

I have got the rip in gsf here http://www.caitsith2.com/gsf/gsfs/goldensun2.rar but there is a problem at the beginning of each track, there is a "click" and it's a quality a little bad !

To have awesome music to sound even more awesome? I would love to have Imil's theme in FLAC (or the closest to it). havok, if you actually get it done, I will worship you like a god.

unless you're going to use GBAmusriper to extract the MIDIs+SF2, then I don't see the point in them being FLAC.

Darkjad, I downloaded this and it just sounds...BAD. Very staticy and echoey. The one I'm going to upload sounds absolutely pristine, clear, and perfect! I have it ripped in both FLAC and 320kbp MP3. I'll upload both tomorrow. And Jamesvu, Imil is on there and it sounds phenomenal!
