This is awesome thanx a lot, but for some reason when i registered it didn't give me an activation via my e-mail account so i can't log in is there a way that u can post the torrent file here or is there any way that i could get a hold of these, because i absolutely love the sonic music and have all of them in mp3, but would love to have them in FLAC lossless thanx.

Hm...well I already asked the one that posted the torrent and he's fine with it but it should really go by the site Admin; I'll ask to see if it's OK.

And one other person from this forum but I'm not so sure if you're still willing to do this in lossless (you know who you are :)):

Sonic the Hedgehog Original Soundtrack (PS3/XBox360 version)

THAT WOULD BE ME!

I TOTALLY FORGOT!

Would Apple Lossless be acceptable?

CyberSpark
02-08-2008, 08:29 AM
Thanks, I'm glad that you're still willing to do this.

Ah...I'm not so sure about ALAC, I've had problems with decoding it before. I mean if that's the format that you have it in then that's fine, but personally I prefer FLAC or APE lossless because they both have simple to understand decoders and the WAV files can be burned to CD

You don't mind if I send you some info do you?

Not at all, but consider the fact that I am sadly currently on OS X. I do not know of many good FLAC Encoders.

CyberSpark
02-08-2008, 09:04 AM
Mac OS-X huh? Isn't FLAC multi-platform? Well unfortunately I don't know too much about that opperating system but I might know of another "audiophile" that does. :) I'll ask for the easiest solution.

can't wait until u rip that soundtrack even though i didn't like that Sonic OST and has to be the worst out of all of them in my opinion...it would still be good to have it in FLAC...oh and i managed to get the torrent and finished it within 2 days and man it's good & thanx for the link CyberSpark...oh and how do u play APE files, i tried winamp, media player, foobar2000 and none of them played them in FLAC & also if u have downloaded the torrent...is there any way to be able to extract the SA2 OST Hero & Dark to seperate FLAC files instead of 1 big 80 minute FLAC.

Well I never really used those media players but I've heard that you'll need to download a plug-in for APE/FLAC support. I use nightly builds (0.9.0) of VLC media player and it plays both of those formats natively; no need to download anything extra.

To play individual tracks from the "Multi-dimensional Sonic Adventure 2 Original Soundtrack" you'll either need to:

Use a media player that supports CUE sheets and drag & drop the <name of file>.CUE file into the media player.

Decode the FLAC/APE file(s) into WAV format and use a CD burning program like Exact Audio Copy and drag & drop the <name of file>.CUE file into EAC and the CUE sheet will automatically split the large WAV file into individual tracks. You may burn them to CDs from there.

There's a third option for if you don't want to burn them to CD but you still want the individual tracks, unfortunately though I'm not by a computer and I don't remember it off hand, when I have the info I'll post back.

...well, maybe I just need to wait for Huelen10's Sonic The Hedgehog OST.

(BTW, Winamp does support FLAC, and you could install Monkey's Audio (http://www.monkeysaudio.com/) to deal with APE.)

The community here is generally very supportive when it comes to torrents, or at least so have I been led to believe, so this explains the willingness. (Or perhaps they're unaware of this place and simply wish to share the love.)

I would like to ask, what is that JxJ album related to? Also, would anyone happen to know what the slow Japanese song from the first Super Sonic episode of "Sonic X" is? It would be hilariously ironic if that were on that JxJ CD, but it seems doubtful. That is a song I've been wanting, regardless of quality (as I'm one of those who also sees FLAC as unnecessary unless you have a truly high end audio system, and even then the quality of the music is limited by what was on the CD originally. That isn't to say I don't appreciate this torrent, as I definitely do).

Sega Sonic The Hedgehog (c) 1992 Sega.
A scrolling, isometric racing game for one to three players featuring Sega's legendary mascot, 'Sonic the Hedgehog'. Sonic's nemesis, 'Dr. Robotnik', is once again intent on World domination and is preparing to launch his latest attack from his new island base, Eggman Island.
When 'Sonic', 'Ray', and 'Mighty' drop in to thwart his plans, Robotnik catches them with one of his devious machines. After finding themselves imprisoned in a tower, the trio break free onto the island, and proceed to make their escape and try to defeat Robotnik and his evil plans.
Sega Sonic's gameplay retains elements of the original console games, such as Sonic's ability to jump on the heads of enemies to kill them. The golden rings that Sonic collects are also included. Each level is littered with Dr Robotnik's devious traps; with lava flows, collapsable platforms, locked gates etc. all serving to hamper Sonic's progress.

CyberSpark
06-09-2008, 05:39 AM
"Cuts Unleashed" is a definite for me. I so wish that I could help Huelen10 out, but she uses a Macintosh and I have no idea what software she'll need to convert WAVE to FLAC + create log file and CUE sheet. I will ask around because she's the only one that I know of, at the moment, that owns the actual CDs. I can't help but think that every moment that passes by there's the chance that the discs might get scratched or something; need to get it ASAP. :)

Vrantheo

FLAC itself supports Mac:
http://flac.sourceforge.net/download.html

CyberSpark
06-09-2008, 08:40 AM
Oh, I wasn't expecting others to be up as late as I usually am. :) OK so maybe I should have been a little clearer. I know about FLAC supporting Mac it's just that I wrote this guide for ripping CDs using Exact Audio Copy which doesn't work on Mac, yet, so I don't know how to explain things like:

Creating a log file or pre-gaps

or

Drive offset correction

or

Extracting files along with a CUE sheet

Something like not configuring the drive offset correction could be a problem for those want "bit-accurateness". I do prefer it myself but I won't die if I receive music that hasn't been configured according to these specifications, it's just nice to keep everything as close to the original CD as possible.

SOTN is back again, but...

No tracker this time - Who knows if we'll restore it in the future, but for now we shall do without. Right now you can either use sites such as rapidshare, or preferably, stick the files on another tracker. You can then upload the actual torrent file here (same as before), such as in this example (http://www.soniconthenet.org/viewtopic.php?t=397). We'll see how it goes.
Seems like I'll be thinking about that "PF mirror" issue for a while.

Sonic CD... which one? ...Just joking. Of course it doesn't matter.

Actually I don't need to do this myself. Just take a look around this place (http://sonar.heranbago.com/top.html).

Or you might be concerned about Sonic Boom (http://www.chudahs-corner.com/soundtracks/index.php?catalog=10086+04112). Fomerly in PF it was Builder's contribution (http://www.soniconthenet.org/viewtopic.php?t=2245). His permission? Sure I'm not sure.

Ah, here's at least one (http://chudahs-corner.com/soundtracks/index.php?catalog=ALCA-5015)... but that kinda sucks.

If you're referring to something else like "Sonic 10th Anniversary", I would say it's nothing better than the original Genesis sounds. Maybe you should consider Chipamp (www.chipamp.org) instead.

As for game music , yeah I already listen to too many chip music already , with 2sf, and streaming audio making it big lately from new game consoles :P but hoped an original version would be out there :P

Thanks

Hey, just wondering if the following have been ripped into flac/ape yet:

Multi-dimensional: Sonic Adventure 2 Original Sound Track
Sonic Adventure 2: Cuts Unleashed (Vocal Collection)
Limited Collector's Edition Sonic the Hedgehog Boom

I have yet to see the multi-dimensional sound track released in flac/ape yet. I know a few people who actually have this, but they aren't willing to rip it to anything but wma lossless (ew). I think SA2 Cuts Unleashed was ripped into ape for Project Fidelity, but I don't remember. It would be great if someone could reupload this soundtrack if they do have this in flac/ape, since it's pretty hard to find it at a decent price even used. And finally, I would be interested in Sonic Boom due to the fact that all of the Sonic CD (US) songs are extended. That, and they include some Sonic Spinball remixes - some by Howard Drossin himself. This soundtrack is also hard to find because I think it was only offered to those who preordered Sonic 3.

Hope people can find these. :)

We did have both Multi Dimensional and Sonic Boom. I'll see if I can manage to perform some re-uploads, or... anyone else have got this too?

The answer is yes and no (LOL Mephiles). Cuts Unleashed is one of our newest WIP. CyberSpark, we're still waiting...:)

(1) Do you have any idea as to whether there's going to be an official soundtrack for the upcoming Sonic game, Sonic Unleashed? Hopefully if this soundtrack is released, I hope it'll be ripped in EAC losslesssince it's the most accurate program for ripping audio CDs (when configured properly).

OST?! For Genesis Sonic games??! Did they ever make any???!

Rest assured. They have kept making OSTs for ALMOST EVERY NEW SONIC GAMES—and we approve that, don't we?:)

Hmm, that reminds me.... Hey Vrantheo, I've been searching for persons that have purchased non-bootleg versions of the Sonic series soundtracks (when they were still in print), I happened to stumble upon someone that has quite a few officially released albums and he said that he's willing to upload for me all in proper lossless (according to this here tutorial (Thread 40004)). Now there's no word on a time frame as to when I'll be receiving the first album, but it's just to let you know that I'm still on the hunt. :)

Btw, yes, he has "Cuts Unleashed" and I've requested. :)

Thanks a lot. I'll wait for your good news...

You might just ask him about the "4 major titles" we only lack.

aka

Sonic Riders OST "SpeedBeats Grand Prix"
Shadow The Hedgehog OST
Sonic Rush "Original Groove Rush"
Sonic Riders: Shooting Star Story OST "Zero Gravity Tracks"
again...

Part 2 (http://www.live-share.com/files/366923/Multi-Dimensional.part2.rar.html)

Yeah, first post here but whatever...

I appreciate your effort of getting this back up but these files appear to be corrupted. For example, Part 2 would be done at 66 KB when the archive file is supposed to be 451.36 MB. I noticed that Live-Share is undergoing some beta stage so that may be the problem...

Ok, both parts are said to be "finished" at 66.3 KB. Vrantheo, would it be ok if you upload these files to another mirror since Live-Share seems to be having some problems?

Umm, this is going to take me quite a while. Any suggestion for another decent file hosting service?
My requirements: fast uploading, big single file size limit (I need at least 1GB).

The first two sites allow up to 1 GB. The third has no limit. Other file-hosting sites seem to have a size limit of 500 MB or less. For the first two sites, I'm not sure about the uploading speed but it should be reliable from I've heard. Up-file says that speed depends on your bandwidth.

megaupload.com
badongo.com
up-file.com

If these sites don't fit your requirements, you could upload the files as a torrent and have some other person seed like you did when SOTN still had its own tracker.

The friend, greetings at you in distribution is not present tracks. On CD 1 there is no track "01-SA2... Main Riff for Sonic Adventure 2", and on CD 2 there is no track "07-Hey You! It's Time to Speed Up Again!!!", "08-Still Invincible... No Fear!", "17-Advertise SA2 ver. C". You can lay out missing tracks? Please. And HUGE to you THANKS for an album.

I knew it
I first received this soundtrack from "that torrent (http://www.soniconthenet.org/viewtopic.php?t=2368)" (it was still a single huge file then), but I myself...kinda..."deliberately" left those tracks out (maybe due to file blocks corruption issues, I didn't remember).
So for now my upload is all that I can do. Sorry about that.

Tracker, what tracker? You're supposed to be in THIS THREAD (Thread 70841) instead. We'll talk about that there.
