I actually quite enjoy naruto, regardless of what people say I love the characters and even the story line, and true on the anime they use quite a bit of fillers but I like it anyways.

I've read far into the latest part of the manga and as far as the anime I keep up with it on saturdays and i've watched the english subbed episodes that have yet to show here.

And as far as fav. characters it would have to be Kakashi and Shikamaru.

I read the Magna (One Magna site). Frankly I've given up on the anime. Shippuuden started out strong enough but with the introduction of unwanted/unneeded characters(Woody and Emo Boy) I started to lose interest in the anime.

I've been keeping up to date with the manga, waiting every week for the new chapter to arrive. Seriously... These recent ones... The latter part of the 380's? Man... Genjutsu battles suck. Thank god they're finally getting serious.
I'm also thinking that the Fourth Hokage needs to appear in more flashbacks. He was just way too cool.

Yes, The Japanese verson of Naruto is great. I have been watching the Shippuuden series. I love it!! Don't start to hate a good anime just because the dubs are crap.

Naruto isn't that bad. It's nowhere near great. But it's not as bad as people are making it out to be. Yes, there are valid reasons for not liking the show. But, the subject of entertainment is completely subjective. Arguing over it proves nothing, especially when arguing with a mod on the board he's moderating. Nobody proves anything, and you just get into a rant while he laughs at you for really over reacting. Yes he insulted you, but you could have took the high road and had an intellectual debate not just start flinging crap.

Back to Naruto. What I don't like about the show is: THEY GRIND EVERY EPISODE DOWN TO POWDER AND SIPHON IT THROUGH A FUNNEL!!! You watch one episode to see some action and you get 15 mins of talking 7 mins of which are back flashes (some of the same or previous episode). And all you get is this smidgen of action and you have to wait til next week(s) til they finally start fighting. For an Action anime they never shut the fuck up imo.

Now what I'd say is a lot of people dump on Naruto without giving it a chance (Myself included). But after I gave it a chance it sort of grew on me. All I can say is don't just jump on the bandwagon watch the show before condemning it because it's "uncool" where you live. (Not implying anyone here is doing that just making a general statement using a precedent that was arisen in this thread).

~Sidebar: At my school there are the asshats that Naruto battle in the library. Everyone makes fun of them, even I don't like idiots that re-enact anime (especially those that include you simulating hand signs that make you look like an asstard.)

I agree with Jeff to be honest. I used to like Naruto even though I skipped about 30 episodes of filler when I'd had enough of watching Naruto struggle to actually do something interesting for thirty minutes at a time, but Shippuden has just put me right off it. I managed to put up with the whole Gaara/Akatsuki arc in Shippuden but I seriously could not believe they dragged Kakashi's new Sharingan technique on for so long, and at the end of the day all it did was suck some guys arm into a hole.

I just hate the fact that they're making people wait up to two weeks for half an hour of explanations, theories and strategies that nobody gives a damn about. Why can't they just get in there, blow the rocks up or whatever other obstruction they have, beat the shit out of whoever the hell is in there and go home? Takes up a lot less time!

ANYway...Naruto annoys me a lot too(what with the flashbacks and such before or during fights), but most times it's not bad. After seeing some pictures of the women(yes, I am a base pervert), I checked it out and liked what I saw, which has kept me going even through the fillers(Guy and Lee really carry the show...it's like Laurel and Hardy on steroids or something).

Should prove to get more interesting in the manga, now that the truth about Tobi is out...but I'm really annoyed about Kishimoto's comment that 'Naruto's story will have to wait'. I sense a lot of filler time coming even for the manga...explanations about several characters(some which we don't even care for, probably).

One can only wait and see...maybe we'll get pleasantly surprised.

I guess I kinda gave the wrong impression when I complained about Naruto, I did actually used to like it! I thought it was really great, even bought some of the DVDs but I guess I just got bored of it. The story line is so long that I just lost interest, and with Shippuden taking a while to actually get going and such I started watching/reading other stories instead. Overall I do think it's a brilliant story and pretty fun to watch/read considering there are so many great characters in it, but maybe it's just not for someone like me who lacks patience.

Depends on the bookstore, but more to the point, you have absolutely no justification for bashing their stock and downloading licensed materials instead of paying the legal licensors if all you have to go on is hearsay. And even if the bookstores in your area have poor selections, there's always the internet. Lots of sites have huge stocks of manga, and sometimes you can find pretty good deals if you bother to look.

Don't get me wrong I'm not "bashing their stock", I'm just saying what I heard. Yes you are right I haven't really investigated that deep into manga. Mostly because the manga I read hasn't been published in America yet. Onemanga.com takes off "most" licensed manga, so it's no like I'm downloading it or taking it from the licensor I simply can't read Japanese so I get free fansubs.

I buy mine from Waterstones or Borders. Borders has a particularly rubbish selection, but they do Death Note and Shaman King which is all I'm bothered about at the moment. Waterstones have a load of Manga, it's just pretty unorganised so you have to know where to look. I used to read Manga and such online so I think it's cool that other people do too, I just started to buy it so that I could re-read over it if I wanted to and stuff like that.

What do you mean people don't die in Bleach? Ichigo's mother was murdered by a Hollow. All but one of the Bounts were killed off in the anime. Sado and Orihime both lost family. Ishida's whole bloodline was practically wiped out.
