I'm pretty sure this is the real thing. 65 tracks - 320 kbps.

The Platinum Version has 81 tracks - 28 tracks on the first disk and 53 "variations" on the 2nd disk - I did not know they released another soundtrack...

Ah, that's news to me. Has it been released yet? I'll keep a look out either way.

It is only available on the Japanese Club Nintendo starting this month, along with a 2008 calendar featuring SMG and other games.

Well, now I could open the zip file, it's not the official soundtrack, it's an old version of the soundtrack you made available here (if I am not mistaken):

I will wait for your Platinum Version ;-)

I think it's supposed to mean it includes the 28 fully orchestrated pieces, and then the 53 synthesized pieces, maybe including jingles and fanfares.

^ Right.

Aww... well that's mildly disappointing, though I certainly appreciate the upload effort.

No problem. Still, you've still got some to listen to while we're waiting. :)

This is my rip. Allot of people seem to be thinking it's all peppydude's work? Many people contributed to ripping this game.

I'd like to know where you got this from Enya, so I can see who's trying to take credit for my rip, (hopefully it's not you).

For all of those not in the know:

The user by the name of sebasrd24 originally started ripping the game, you can find the thread here: Link (Thread 47170). Shortly before he completed his work I began my rip on another forum, a user from there pointed me to sebasrd24's thread, however I noticed the quality of the rip was not up to the standard I was looking for so I continued on my own. My thread can be found here at the VGMuseum forums: Link (http://www.vgmuseum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=287).

When I started getting more and more tracks done I posted in sebasrd24's thread wondering if I could post a link to my rip, which I did. Eventually my rip contained 65 tracks (the one in question here) created with the help of several users. By this time the rest of the tracks needed were fairly pain in the butt tracks to rip, requiring lots of editing which I was not interested in doing. At this time peppydude took the reigns aiming to complete the rip with any missing tracks. You can find his additions to my rip here: Link (Thread 49238)

Hopefully this fills in anyone who is just joining us ;).

I had this version handed to me from a friend. He said he downloaded it from a bittorrent site. I'm not sure if this version is your own and if it is, I'm sorry. At first, I thought this was the original thing but later found out it was a rip made by somebody after hearing words from Peppydude. It seems likely that I've stumbled upon your rip after all. If you like, I can delete the link altogether. I'm not taking credit for this in anyway and I appreciate the work gone into it. I was only trying to contribute to people what I thought was the original thing.

Here is the link where he got it from: http://www.mininova.org/search/?search=Super+Mario+Galaxy

Sorry if I came off rather harsh :/.

Just rubs me the wrong way when you put work into something and people snatch it up without giving any credit from where they got it. But that's the nature of the internet really, not much can be done to prevent it, at least with what we're concerned with here.

No need to be sorry really :), if anyones to blame it's the makers of the torrent(s). There was a similar incident where a torrent was made of my rip (again) and put up on the piratebay. What really bugs me even more though isn't quite the lack of credit they give. But they pass the files off as being the OST, which it obviously isn't. I have no qualms with torrents being made of the files, as long as they don't mislead people, and give proper credit.

Oh, I certainly agree. It happens a lot of the time though doesn't it? There's not much you can do about it. One question though if I may, how did this rip get leaked to more than one bittorrent site if it hadn't been released by you or anyone else?

There were several versions of my rip as I added more and more tracks. The 65 track rip was finished near the end of November last year. So plenty of time for people to upload it to torrent sites . Also sebasrd24 had even released his rip a little earlier than mine.

They want to feel important, or something. Also, unintentionally sometimes, people can get credit over time as the original ripper fades into obscurity and the uploader gets more attention. Eh. Not a lot you can do about it really.

That said, I think Peppy also just wants to feel important.

I fully credited Silentscience for his work and heuleun10 who ripped a few tracks. I was merely trying to get a complete OST. If people don't read the full post (which happens 95% of the time) they will just say thanks or something like that without knowing who put the work in. Once again my thanks to both of you for your hard work on ripping the tracks.
