lol this isnt a shop dude i already did a lot, and FLAC is useless, at least for me.I dont see any major change in quality, just loss of space. Anyway I did this for people that cant afford to buy it.

TrueLugia121
12-11-2007, 10:36 AM
well you think it's just a loss of space. but you know FLAC is Lossless Compression and MP3 is LOSSY Compression. MP3s don't compare in quality to FLAC. go to CyberSpark's Sticky thread if you don't kno what i'm talking about. therefore i cannot thank you.

Note: This is my opinion and not the opinion of my city, state, country etc.
Audiophiles (or however you spell it) can argue all day long on the pros of FLAC versus any other type of audio. But without the displayed data in front of them, many could not tell the difference between two very similar audio types or even different qualities of the same type of audio.

Thank you for the download.

I, too, don't get the big deal about lossless compression. Personally, I can't tell a difference between files unless the bitrate of the file is lower than 64 kbps, which is why I usually encode my mp3's for my PSP at 128. Gotta smash as many songs into my small stick as I can, ya know!

See , that's what I was talking about. There is a great amount of difference between 128kbps and 320kbps, but not much difference between 320kbps mp3 and Flac concerning sound quality . Another alternative could be AAC but since we are all used to mp3 and our players use that format, I chose this way . Your gratitude is appreciated and that's why I will keep re-uploading until I find a humane site .

Well, maybe it's just me, but I don't know this album. Is this a sampler or are those re-recordings?

Anyway, thanks for this one!

This album was released on the 4th of December , it is a pre-recorded album (not live) which was done by the Stockholm philarmonic orchestra and Nobuo Uematsu, the tracklist is the same with the actual concert's with some minor changes (e.g. Terra's theme which was not included in the CD but it was played at the concert, or the solo singer of the CD was changed imo with the Opera singer at the concert)
Other than that its a new album with some new arrangements and some same tracks from classic final fantasy blockbusters. The new tracks are FFI-III medley which is not the same as the tour de japon's version, the Theme song of FF4 with new arrangement, and the "maria and draco" opera in English (this is the first time imo)

God damn do I hate Audiophiles. Odds are that they're listening to their FLAC files on crappy $50 desktop speakers, ruining their argument completely. I can't tell the difference between 128 kbps and FLAC unless the volume is cranked above normal "I'm listening to this, not jamming out all batshit insane" levels. Half of the FLAC snobbery is the fact that they've been told how awesome it's supposed to sound, so they have to buy into it.

the only way to tell the difference between a well encoded mp3 and a flac is barely noticable unless you are a totally anal audiophile.
flacs take up way too much space anyway

I have high quality speakers and I can very rarely tell the difference between Flac and 320kbps mp3/500kbps ogg which are my standard audio processing formats. Most of the time the difference is not worth the huge difference in filesize.

I applaud this upload in either case. Great music, here.

Yay! First post! (for me, not the thread.) Anyway, I already bought this, but it hasn't come in yet, and I would have to wait until christmas anyway. You know what made me stop waiting and start downloading? When MorgothEmis said that Susan Calloway was the singer for the CD. I take that to mean she sings "Distant Worlds" and I am really excited because I was disappointed by the voice of the woman who sang that song on the VOICES Concert DVD (which I ripped in both FLAC and 320 MP3, if anybody wants it, although the only difference I could hear between that and the rip already out there is that the choir sounds clearer in my rip of "One Winged Angel")
Anyway, I have never heard of Susan Calloway, but I REALLY doubt she is the same person as the very asian singer on the VOICES DVD.

Thank you all for reading, thank you MorgothErmis for uploading, and if anybody wants either of my VOICES DVD rips, pm me.

PS: If someone REALLY wants FLAC, they should buy the CD and rip it to FLAC at home. I personally only use FLAC for DVD Audio rips, because I would have to re-name & re-rip the tracks every time I wanted a different bitrate otherwise.

PPS: "Love grows" seems to be broken on both archives. I'd ask you to re-upload again, but I am just going to wait for my CD come Christmas. At least I have something to look forward to. :)

PPPS: I promise this will be the last time I edit this post. However, I must say this: Susan Calloway's voice is not what I expected it to be, but at least I don't have to strain my ears to make out what she's saying. The song still tugged at my heartstrings though, much more than the VOICES Concert version did. I know this has nothing to do with the uploader or the files themselves, but I needed to get that out there just in case anybody else was in my situation concerning that song.

nice upload. looking forward to the concert in march.

and i don't think you'll hear the difference between mp3 or FLAC when you're ripping a CD because the files get severely compressed once you put them on the CD anyway (isn't it around 128 kbps/44100 Hz at 16 bit?), so what's the fuss about? you'll almost never hear the rich sound of the audio engineers' copy before it was put on CD (unless they leak it on the internet and start handing out data CDs of their work?). now i could understand complaining about FLAC vs. mp3 when it's your own work, but that's getting off topic.

anyway. MorgothErmis, thanks for the upload.

Thank you so much for the upload MorgothErmis. I went and ordered the CD this morning from Amazon. Sometimes I avoid getting all these final fantasy concert CDs, cause they can be pricey and you never know whether or not they'll sound crap (and more often than not, its the same stuff heard many times before). But this really does sound wonderful and theres a good few pieces played here by live orchestra for the first time (or at least interperted differently). Thread 48401

I miss to Zanarkand. :(

Actually, a lot more songs would have to be on this CD (if the whole concert would have been posted), I guess they kept some exclusively for the concert tour, here is the playlist of the concert:

01. Final Fantasy VIII - Liberi Fatali
02. Final Fantasy X - To Zanarkand
03. Final Fantasy VIII - Don't be Afraid
04. Final Fantasy VII - Aerith's Theme
05. Final Fantasy I-III - Medley 2002
06. Final Fantasy V - Dear Friends
07. Final Fantasy IX - Vamo' alla Flamenco
08. Final Fantasy series - Main Theme

- Intermission -

09. Final Fantasy VII - Opening Bombing Mission
10. Final Fantasy VIII - Fisherman's Horizon
11. Final Fantasy XI - Memoro de la Stono - Distant Worlds
12. Final Fantasy IV - Theme of Love
13. Final Fantasy series - Swing de Chocobo
14. Final Fantasy III DS - Opening
15. Final Fantasy VIII - Love Grows
16. Final Fantasy VI - Opera "Maria and Draco"

- Encore -

x17. Final Fantasy VI - Terra's Theme
x18. Final Fantasy VII - One-Winged Angel

As you can see, we have 18 pieces of music, the Distant Worlds CD offers us 13. While still a good collection of FF music, I wouldn't mind hearing and buying the FF III DS opening, Terra's Theme, Dear Friends and the others that are missing.

This is the playlist of the CD:

01. Opening - Bombing Mission (FINAL FANTASY VII)
02. Liberi Fatali (FINAL FANTASY VIII)
03. Aeriths Theme (FINAL FANTASY VII)
04. Fishermans Horizon (FINAL FANTASY VIII)
05. Dont be Afraid (FINAL FANTASY VIII)
06. Memoro de la Stono - Distant Worlds (FINAL FANTASY XI)
07. Medley 2002 (FINAL FANTASY I-III)
08. Theme of Love (FINAL FANTASY IV)
09. Vamo alla Flamenco (FINAL FANTASY IX)
10. Love Grows (FINAL FANTASY VIII)
11. Opera Maria and Draco (FINAL FANTASY VI)
12. Swing de Chocobo (FINAL FANTASY series)
13. One-Winged Angel (FINAL FANTASY VII)

I'm currently ripping some unofficial video recordings for the missing pieces ... :)

Thank you kindly for the upload. It's muchly appreciated.

As a random note, the proper name of the XI track is "Memoria de la Stona", which is a Latin phrase, meaning "Memory of the Stone" (or as SE wishes to translate it, "Memory of the Crystal").

"Stono", or maybe "tono", would have a very different meaning, as would "memoro". That would make it something along the lines of "Remembering the Deafening (Sounds)", I believe.

Thanks so much for your effort in getting this album MorgothErmis! It's an astonishing accomplishment to the music of Final Fantasy. Many thanks.

Thank you. This music is amazing. I saw a youtube video of a performance of the Opera and it was great (though still slightly hard to understand but that could have just been the bootleg recording quality) Awesome stuff though. I plan on buying it when it gets restocked.

That would all be correct if the track name were indeed Latin. However, it's Esperanto, and thus correctly written Memoro de la S^tono. Lyrics are all Esperanto as well.

But hey, don't want to make a post just to pedantically correct another post over two months old, so...

Yeah, I totally went to this concert in Chicago a few weeks back. Sat about six feet from the old guy that played the classical guitar solos. It was pretty fantastic hearing it all live. Got the CD for free, and got my FFVI OST signed. Good times were had by all.

well you think it's just a loss of space. but you know FLAC is Lossless Compression and MP3 is LOSSY Compression. MP3s don't compare in quality to FLAC. go to CyberSpark's Sticky thread if you don't kno what i'm talking about. therefore i cannot thank you.

What sort of life experiences do you need to suffer through to turn into such a hypercritical and ungrateful jerk?

Also thank you... Christ, I'm a huge music fan. I listen to MP3 (I haven't learned about FLAC yet and I don't think my iPod will be able to support it anyway). Music isn't about the file-type it's about the music. It's sometimes a huge ordeal trying to find a decent download for certain works. I can appreciate the efforts to bring releases to the public and posts like what I quoted are frustrating.

Awesome post man. I also bought it. I just recently got it off amazon.com about 2 weeks ago. Yeah to me honestly the difference between FLAC and MP3 is well the size, the quality is slightly different. I mean if you were going to listen to this album say on an iPod, MP3 is your best choice, FLAC isn't even supported on an iPod unless you hack it. But anyways, great post.

Thanks for this.

I have the CD, but being the type of person I am, I'm keeping it wrapped on my shelf, but downloading the MP3s :D
