I don't know how to start this sooo:
I usually listen to all types of music country-screamo. But never in my life have I ever enjoyed listening to classical orchestrated or any type of music that has to do with Symphonies and such.

Well, not until the soundtracks of the Final Fantasy games that is. After I completed my first few FF games I tried out one of the soundtracks(ff8) and LOVED it. Ever since I can lay on the ground listening to the soundtracks for hours without a care in the world.

I don't know why I like them so much I think its because they bring back a ton of memories of me playing the game and the trematic and emotional parts in them. Or maybe its because I remember the wonderful lush landscapes and the feeling of being emmersed within them.

So, I was wondering if you guys feel anything when listening to the FF Soundtracks. Or maybe I'm the only one.

Hopefully Ill get an answer from you Agent, you sttrike me as a very insiteful person that will most likely give me a good response.

I'm not horribly versed with the names of instrumentals (except for a few notable exceptions), but I feel many things when I listen to music from FF. Not only do I remember the feelings I had when I experienced the events tied to the songs, but I also remember what I was doing and feeling at those points in my life.

Maybe because I've played it so many times, the soundtrack for VI sticks out the most. Those songs teleport me back to a time in my late childhood/early adolescence when I was deep in the throes of enjoying all things fantasy (books, movies, games, etc.). I experienced those times with my first best friend (and his mom, she really introduced us to it, and is still heavy into it--moreso than us :p).

So, hearing those songs is almost a magical experience. 1st and foremost in my mind is Kids Run Through the City (is it City Corner? I've seen it written both ways so many times). It calms me, and makes me wistful for the past. *sigh* The opera til this day still tears me apart, and Johnny C Bad lifts my spirits instantly.

Yeah, love the music

No way. Your not alone, I too listen to all kinds of music, just about every genre, except for rap and all that shit.

Orchestrated VG music is really cool. I also love the Metal rendition of the Zelda theme. But FF Symphony music is the best.

i have a classical folder and a final fantasy folder. and i hardly ever listen to the classical because it's so boring and miserable. ff music is better imo.

i really like the metal gear solid 20th anniversary cd too.

VG music is really great, and Final Fantasymusic is one of my favourites, together with Silent Hill.

I think it's only natural to feel the way you do, and especially when you associate the music with the games and the experiences you had with them. I feel the same way when I hear a certain piece of music from one of the games, and mind you that I don't listen to classical music at all, so it's the association with the games that makes me want to listen.

I think we all feel the same way, but some feel it stronger than others.

Same here, it's pretty much the only orchestrated music I don't mind listening to. I never bought any of the sountracks but I listen to the unlockable music player songs sometimes on the GBA final fantasy remakes.

I really should get the soundtracks for VI and VIII. At the very least.

I have the sampler that came with Anthology. It really doesn't cut it.

Country-Screamo, I would not want to listen to that :o

It makes me feel... Inexplicably good feelings... If I`m tired, if I`m sad, if I`m lonely, it just makes me forget it... It shuts me off from the whole world, and there is only FF music and me left. If I remember that a melody I`m listening to was played on the sad part of the game it can even sometimes force several tears to run down my face... If it was on a happy part I start smiling and feeling a lot better. Some battle themes makes me feel full of action, just like I`m standing in the middle of a battlefield. There were many, many times, when I just started singing some silly words, who more or less fit into the melody. FF music, is something what could even make Beethoven to overturn in his coffin... I swear, I`ve never seen anything else like that! Or should I say "heard"?

I totally agree FF music makes all the emotions I had when playing the game come rushing back.

Same here, i'm trying to learn a few songs on my keyboard, atleast the parts that it will allow me to (only 61 keys >_<), and playing it does so much more for me than listening to it. Although the soundtracks to 7 and 9 always pick my spirits up. Lots of memories and emotions attached to them, even outside of the games. Haha, the first time I told my girlfriend I loved her I had Aerith's theme playing in my head.

Oh yeah I definitely love listening to Final Fantasy music. Actually I first got into liking symphonic and orchestral from the Soul Calibur series then the Kingdom Hearts series then the Final Fantasy series. I must say Final Fantasy music is quite diverse, from Final Fantasy: Dirge of cerberus to Final Fantasy X-2 to Final Fantasy Tactics to Final Fantasy: The Black Mages and even the Final Fantasy: Voice of the Lifestream remixes, I'd recommend all of them.

My most recent collection is from Final Fantasy XI Original Soundtrack Premium Box Set and I have to tell you it's really a great set of music.

I couldn't agree more. I downloaded the FFVII: Crisis Core OST a few days ago and I must say that the few "Theme of CRISIS CORE" tracks especially "Under the appletree" and "The Price of Freedom" are all superb. There's something about the sad country-esque feel to it that makes you reminisce about experiences outside of gaming. And Ayaka's "Why" is now one of my new faves, just under "Simple and Clean (original version)".

I agree with Temarivosa that "Why" is also a good track that Square has to put out. Another for me would be some of the chilling music from "Dirge of Cerberus" to add to the game's dark tone, although I wouldn't say much for the game itself.

-jeje- I always heard "the only thing good about FFVIII is the music" and... well, againist many ones, I agree... well, not at all, I liked the designs as well... whatever, don't feel weird about "feeling" music, it's natural! even my mom likes it! and that's pretty weird, don't you think? I love music, videogame music and FF music comes in! Well, so much I liked it that I learnt to play "into the darkness", "Eyes on me", "Suteki da ne" and maaaaany others with my violin! and sounds great! God bless you, Nobuo Uematsu!
