This Collection of Yoko Kanno, Maaya Sakamoto, Akino Arai, Origa, Scott Matthew, and Steve Conte Music is encoded to MP3 (60% of them VBR -V0 or CBR 320 bitrate). The ones that are in VBR -V0, I have encoded from lossless sources (APE, FLAC). (Thread 44707)

I recommend the Cowboy Bebop soundtracks. Start with the main three: OST1, No Disc, and Blue. If you like instrumental Jazz, that's what OST1 focuses on the most. No Disc and Blue change things up, covering other styles of music, and many of the songs have vocals.

Wow! What a great collection of Yoko's stuff. She's so brilliant, so thanks for all the awesome uploads, Jedi.

And for pinknyunyu, obviously the Escaflowne and Macross stuff is amazing, but for recommendations, I'd say that Cowboy Bebop, Earth Girl Arjuna and Song To Fly are some of her most pleasurable listening experiences. Especially Bebop and Arjuna. Bebop has some of the widest variety of musical flavors and styles. Wolf's Rain is really beautiful as well, though I don't care for the show very much.

I recomend cowboy bebop, wolfs rain, and uncharted water disc 2 special(its arranged music she composed for a videogame). Thats what I've heard from her in addition to escaflowne.

Well its a recurring topic on hydrogenaudio forums and I think a poster Jojo puts it best:

The bottom line is that Joint-Stereo used in LAME is lossless. Therefore, it will either improve quality or reduce filesize. So, Joint-Stereo + LAME is a must! The Stereo mode in LAME should be removed since there is no use for this anymore...

Well if your talkin about a program then any forum/audio-file would say to use Exact Audio Copy (EAC) (http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/) to rip CDs. If your talkin about LAME settings, then the settings I said before are the best for MP3s if not the extremes: VBR -V0 (New Routine), HQ, Joint Stereo.

I'm assuming you're asking because the one posted here is OST1, not OST+, but I don't know since I haven't downloaded it. However, I do own OST+, and I can tell you that the two extra songs are TV versions of GET9 and Rise. Some people don't care about TV versions if they have the full version, but maybe you do and want the dang album to be complete. So if you're interested, I can rip them for you. Do you have a preference on bitrate? I usually do CBR 320, but it's no trouble if you'd prefer VBR or something else.

As a side note, I find it highly amusing that "Le Vent Vert - Le Temps Bleu" was remixed with Snoop Dogg's "Drop It Like It's Hot" for the 2006 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.

A not very well known fact is that Yoko Kanno rearranged “THUNDERBIRD” for T.M.Revolution’s 2006 self-cover album UNDER:COVER. She also performed the piano accompaniment in that song. It’s much different from the original recording and I like this version way more. Enjoy!

No kidding you won't find them anywhere...you can only get these singles at iTunes Japan. It's a pain to transcode from m4a (damn Apple's protected file format!) to mp3.

And I'm glad people are enjoying these!

If you'd bothered to read the whole thread, you would have noticed this post (http://forums.ffshrine.org/showpost.php?p=883162&postcount=65). Most of the Bebop stuff is still up.

For the unreleased Wolf's Rain and other music, it won't let me save the tracks into a CD because of the encoding. What programs do you guys use in order to make the tracks encoded to run on an audio CD?

Yoko Kanno also composed the opening and ending for Oban Star Racers (which I haven't watched...). Anyway, there are multiple versions of the opening in different languages. I managed to find the full-length Japanese version, which you can get here if you're interested:

First: thanks for an awesome collection. I've always loved Kanno's work on Cowboy Bebop.

Second: That being said, I'm looking for some reccomendations as to other works in the same sort of vein as the instrumental jazz from Cowboy Bebop, and especially this tune from Darker Than Black, "Go Dark." It kind of reminds me of Herbie Hancock, sort of a jazz-funk. Can anyone reccomend similar sorts of tunes?

I just downloaded pretty much all the maaya sakamoto albums, origa albums, and yoko kanno albums in one day after giving into a rapidshare account (1 month is pretty cheap). All i have to say is holy crap hard drive rape and you sir are awesome!! It's amazing how many of the origa albums are hard to buy online. I think 4 out of the 9 are actually available to buy NEW somewhere.

This is a rarity!! but is really good... this is a radio live recording from a japanese radio station. maaya sings acoustic versions from shounen alice album, danielle from 23 ji no ongaku and tune the rainbow. the bootleg has 13 tracks, 6 of them are speeches and 7 songs, the bitrate is 160 and the sound is really good, it's clean and you can listen it really well!! i hope you like it

It probably doesn't matter that there is no internet confirmation as to whether or not Kanno composed the music for Romance of the Three Kingdoms because the first track in the KOEI Game Works is a rearrangement of Three Kingdoms (minus the obvious Faure rip.) It's obviously Kanno.

Sorry about that, I got that OST from Galbadia Hotel (http://gh.ffshrine.org/soundtracks.php)(the site had the broken mp3 originally).

I'm pretty sure you can get it at Yoko Kanno Database forums (http://www.monkey-pirate.com/ykdb/index.php). Note you have to register and post 5 times to get into the hidden sub-forum called "Files to Share" under "General".

I already had created a thread of MACROSS soundtracks, but it seems no one was interested.
I was also thinking on a thread about Kuniaki Haishima.
Yoko Kanno only made , with kuniaki haishima, 4 songs.
Life Song, Horobi no Uta, Morobi no Uta (both japanese and mayan Version)
the first song is on the ost 1, the rest is located on ost 2.
Kuniaki requested help of Yoko Kanno, because he wanted to make a song with Mayan lyrics, and yoko was the only person with that kind of culture...

I have being found that wikipedia is REALLY NOT ALLWAYS RIGHT.
I found a place on wiki, which said the anime were kenji kawai made soundtracks, and the "bug" was when it says he made the ost for ICZER-1, which is wrong, he made the ost for ICZELION.....
You cant trust at 100% on wiki.

Amazing thread, thanks much. Just a few things. I believe the "Somewhere in the silence" track from SSS is broken. Won't upload. And is the Ghost OST4 really just one track? Is there really a whole fourth soundtrack.

Oh, and YK's done work with Akino Arai as well. She composed a few tracks for her Sora no Niwa album. There are some Yoko pieces on Sora no Mori as well, but those can be downloaded from other links here already.

Wow, thanks for posting these! This is grand.

I'm not able to unzip the file containing Origa's 2006-2007 singles, and I've tried downloading it twice now. It unzips partway, and leaves me with an empty folder. Any suggestions, or would someone else perhaps be so kind as to re-upload the file to another host website?

My only recommendation is ether:

1) your typing the password wrong
OR
2) you need to re-download (make sure the file size is: 60,574 KB)

you also use that site!!! i USED to USE it, but then I found out some BUGS on it....this is not faithfully for yoko kanno.....

Edit: I was seraching on my FAITHFULL resource...yoko is not in porco rosso, really...
about Mindgame, the soundtrack is from another guy, she does one song only in there, as invited...
I 'ts just an opinion, but you should separate what is 100% yoko kanno between guest appearance in other parts....

If you've noticed - If some words are white but have underlines then its a link (Thread 44707). I tried my best to link all of the OSTs (in the topic thread) to a website with INFO on it. Not perfect but its something...

Also Read "Comment:" if an OST/Album/Single has one, they're sorta informative.

There are two ost's of gasaraki and a image album release between the releases of the ost's...
in the 2 ost's there are a big amount of songs wich do no appear on the anime of gasaraki...
