Has this game come out yet? BecauseI haven't heard anything about it.
I think it has CHain of Memories as a 3d minigame, is that true?

ya, they added a lot of goodies. like the crown hunt mini games. Also you can fight an 'unknown soldier' which is one of the dudes from the end scene of regular kh2

You do realize that it's Final Mix+, right?

This game is out in Japan but not planned for release in Usa. Not sure why, Kingdom Hearts 2 was the top selling rpg of 2006. I haven't played any KH game yet though. :D

All the "RPG"s you play and you haven't played the KH "trilogy." C'mon man, you're missing out!!!

Ok, I'll rent one of them, should I start with KH1 or KH 2?

KH 2 was the highest selling rpg of last year. On metacritic.com/games the rpg's have this order of critical success I believe...

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess(22 critical 100% scores on Wii version!, 95% from 72 critical reviews, 94% from 522 user votes)
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion(18 critical 100% scores for Xbox 360, 94% from 90 critical reviews, 89% from 290 user votes))
Final Fantasy XII(15 critical 100% scores, 92% from 63 critical reviews, 83% from 188 user votes)
Kingdom Hearts 2(only 2 critical 100% scores, 87% from 63 critical reviews, 91% from 276 user votes)

For user reviews, the order is Zelda, Kingdom Hearts 2, Oblivion, then FF XII. I want to find out which games sold more, although some were out on multiple platforms.

I consider critical/user reviews more important to me than sales. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess overall may have been the most successful rpg of last year. This year the options may be: World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, The Elder Scrolls IV: The Shivering Isles, Super Paper Mario, Bioshock, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, and Mass Effect.

Critical reviews for WoW: BC are lower than usual. The Sh. Is. is an expansion only and S.P. Mario is mainly a platformer. Bioshock is mainly a first person shooter. Blue Dragon doesn't have high enough reviews. Lost Odyssey can be very great but I'm thinking that Mass Effect will be the most successful rpg of the year.

Do you guys agree that Mass Effect will be overall have the best combo of high sales, critical reviews, and user reviews? I want to get it! :)

Is KH similar in tone and "target audience" as Zelda or is it lighter and aimed for a younger audience? How good is the handheld KH game?

I think Chain of Memories is fantastic. There have been those who hated it as well. From a story perspective CoM is critical to understanding the beginning of II, imho.

Basically your attacks are linked to a set of cards that you shuffle while you're fighting. It sounds chaotic, but I think it's actually quite innovative.

I noticed you talking about "target audience" in your new Blue Dragon thread, and can't help but wonder why that matters. A good game is a good game. Kingdom Hearts is pretty cheeky and cheesy and 'do-good-ery' but I don't think you have to be a certain age to appreciate it. You are aware that a lot of us Pokeshriners are in our mid-20s right? :p

A game can be a great game but if the target audience is for 15 years old or for 25 years old, that is gonna make a difference to me. It's the same thing as people preferring to watch The Simpsons or preferring to watch The West Wing. Both can be great shows but they are aimed to different age groups.

This exists in all forms of entertainment. Yea I remember playing Pokemon it was kinda fun I played Red or Blue a long time ago. I'm part of the target audience for "Lost Odyssey" by the way. Also I am in the target audience for Bioshock and Mass Effect this year.

Currently I'm watching Bioshock movies on it's website. It's great!

There are plenty of people who like both the Simpsons and West Wing, to use your own example. If you are limiting your choices based on what you yourself like, that's perfectly normal. If you are limiting your choices based on the predefined categories of the media or society, when you could possibly like things that are in many of those different categories, then you are denying yourself needlessly.

If you feel something, go with it. Don't say "Oh noes, this is supposed to be for little kids/girls/etc.! But I like it, but I can't because society says so," because that is ridiculous.

And that is why I'm considered a rebel against society. I do everything that goes against the standards of society. I honestly hate "fitting in" and I would rather be myself and play by my rules (all legal of course ;)).

Just so you know, there was a lot of people that didn't want to play KH in the beginning because of one word: DISNEY. When they actually played the game, they did everything to get the hidden ending and waited impatiently for KHII. Just because it looks like it's made for kids doesn't mean it is. Have fun with it! When I turn 50, will I stop playing video games just because I'm not young anymore? Fuck no. I'll be doing things that are mostly what kids do till the day I die. Why? Because it's fun. Plus, the story of KH is great. At least I think so.

Good stuff! What I mean is that it seems younger than my preference so I haven't played it so far. I only have limited time to play rpg's, so I have to choose only the ones that seem most interesting to me. KH 2 has high fame, I'll get around to it eventually. :D

When it comes to anything that goes in chronological order, you should always start with the first. Some games have a synopsis of what went on in the previous games, but this one does not. I highly recommend that you start from the first KH game, then play CoM, and then KHII. Otherwise, you will have no idea what's going on and for me, that takes away from the experience.

And you sound like my friend John. He won't play a game unless it has good reviews. Seems to me he doesn't know how to form an opinion that's from personal experience. For all you know, you might actually hate everything about Kingdom Hearts. Just because people say it's a good game doesn't mean it is for you. BUT! I hope you think KH is good :D.

KH was cool... but i didn't like it all that much.. It's really not one of my favorite trilogies, because it feels like i was playing a disney kind of game for like 6 years old or something.... I mean, some parts are cool, but when you get to like little mermaid and stuff... Thats gone to far lol..

I have some issues with the movie itself, but in general, and in KH, Ariel is decent. Plus, I love playing the songs in Atlantica :D

The Atlantica musicals in KHII were a fun break from the normal gameplay. I guess overall, either you like the Disney stuff, or you don't. I'm not ashamed to say I really enjoy the Pooh book segments in both games too. :) (Though I actually enjoyed it a bit more in the original Kingdom Hearts and was a bit disappointed that Lumpy wasn't included in the second game.)

Ok, I didn't know if there are seperate stories like the FF series. Also, I have my own opinions, but I also look at the critical and user reviews of a game as well. I'm really excited about Lost Odyssey btw. :D
