I've looked through pages in this section and some were really old and I know how some members react to posting in old topics. So I made a new one, but this is obviously for everything that deals with anything KH.

In one of the topics, I was reading about something about a remake of Chain of Memories for the GBA being made for the PS2. I was wondering if this is what Kingdom Hearts 2: Final Mix+ was. I assumed it was Kingdom Hearts 2 with extra goodies like the first FM but I may be wrong.

And lastly, I have the first Final Mix game and I can't seem to find a menu translation guide. I looked on gamefaqs.com, but I only found a Final Mix walkthrough. It's all fine and all when you're facing Unknown, but I would just rather have a menu translation guide. If any of you know where I can find one, please let me know.

I can answer your first question, Kingdom hearts Re-Chain of memories is part of Kingdom hearts 2 final mix+ (probably an extra disk).

Thanks for the info. Now if someone can answer my translation guide question...

I just checked out gamefaqs.com and they had a release date on Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix+. Obviously for Japan, March 29th. But it also has a release date for the US! Not an exact date, but it says Fall 2007. Hopefully it will actually be released hear because that would be pretty awesome.

Just thought I'd post that up.

Hopefully. I liked how with the first game everything was new and you really didn't know what to expect. KH2 was repetitive and was much easier than the first one, even on Proud Mode. CoM was pretty much about the story between 1 and 2. Can't say it's horrible because of the story, but it seemed like a simple hack-n-slash for the GBA and pretty easy if you ask me.

BTW, did any of you think that KH2 had kind of a "war-like" story to it? The first one to me seems like an invasion while the second was pretty much a war with a third party (Nobodies).

M~C~P
02-17-2007, 07:12 PM
Thats not true for me I am currently playing through proud mode and have already died more than when I played normal mode, but KH1 and KH2 are the same in difficulty.
It did have a war like story, on one side Maleficent,Pete(other disney bad guys) and the heartless, on another side organisation XIII and the nobodies and on the other side you and donald and FF charecters.

IDX
02-17-2007, 10:17 PM
Okay then, I must be better at it than you. I didn't die once on proud mode in KH2, but did plenty of times in KH1. I'm currently playing both Final Mix and the American game on both proud mode and they're equally hard. Died a few times already.

Just found a video of Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix+. It has content covering Re-Chain of Memories along with KH2 with a few extra stuff such as new magic (there's this one where it appears that Sora's in the middle of a tornado). I enjoyed it and hopefully you will too. It's a 7 minute video, just so you know.

Is that another one of those that they're only releasing in places other than the U.S., or is U.S. going to get that too for a change?

Also, yeah, I definitely found quite a bit of challenge to be had in both versions of the game, especially on the steeper difficultly modes. Anyway, I'm a big fan of the series. Kingdom Hearts III, whenever it comes out, should be interesting to see. I wonder if now that Disney and Pixar are firmly together if we'll see some content from the Disney-Pixar films in there. Disney has the Muppets now too --- that might be interesting to see. And I hope Lumpy is included in whatever Pooh world they put in there this time. :)

Has anyone here read any of the Kingdom Hearts manga books? I own the final installment of the one for the original Kingdom Hearts and I got the others from the library.

LOL, um, any major bookseller, either online or in stores. At least in the United States, anyway. Not sure about those of you in the U.K. But here's an example of one (http://www.amazon.com/Kingdom-Hearts-Vol-Shiro-Amano/dp/1598162195/ref=sr_1_8/002-5337635-5969621?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1172963532&sr=1-8) on Amazon.

I read them and I liked them alot. The manga for CoM isn't complete yet, but they have more pages per book compared to the manga for the original Kingdom Hearts.

And as for a release outside of Japan for Final Mix+, it's highly likely that it will be released in the US (sorry for you others, but that's all I heard) because it's really high in demand. And because of something about not everyone having a Gameboy and they want those people to get the whole story and to fill in the gaps for them.

Wow, so it is likely it'll be out in the U.S.? That's awesome. Hope it materializes.

And yeah, I really enjoyed the books too. They capture the essence of the story from the game, but make some interesting changes as well. I haven't had a chance to read any of the CoM books yet, but I'm looking forward to it, as I'vfe never played CoM. (I have no GameBoy nor DS.)

I'vfe never played CoM. (I have no GameBoy nor DS.)

It has its detractors, but I enjoyed it immensely. Easily my favorite non-port Game Boy game. It actually has psuedo-FMVs and full vocal audio for Simple and Clean. The card aspect of it really excited me as I'm a huge fan of Triple Triad, Tetra Master, and Xenocard. It was challenging without being frustrating and had all the collection aspects of the original and II (i.e., you fill in Jiminy's Journal).

My love of Riku comes solely from CoM (I haven't played II yet), and I think they did a nice job with introducing the nobodies and Namine. I highly recommend it.

IDX
03-04-2007, 06:36 AM
Yes. I'm about to finish CoM and will start on KHII when that's done.

What I love about the books is the little side comics. Remember the one about how Leon likes his tea? And he thought he was safe with the soda... And I liked the one where Sora calls Genie so because Sora can't open his jam jar.

And about Kingdom Hearts III, I read somewhere that it takes place before Sora's time. I'm really interested with the "Keyblade War" though.

CoM was okay not my favorite since I didn't like how the system would make you sort through your cards or how healing stuff can get bumped off. Happened TOO many times for my tastes. But as I said it was okay.

As for the Keyblade war I hope it is GOOD with more of the 1000 heartless challange and other like stuff. I like either a Mass Melee or a Hard fight like Demxy second round. For a wuss he is actually pretty tough the Spear guy at Beasts castle I can't rememeber how to spell his name he was easy compared to Demxy.

I also hope KH2 Final Mix makes its way over to USA instead of staying in Japan like KH Final Mix did. I so want to see the PS2 CoM.

KH was awesome. CoM sucked so much ass that I couldn't even finish it and ended up giving it to my nephew. However KH2 did make up for it but was still not as fun as KH. I'm hoping KH3 will end the series with a bang.

Mickrulz
03-29-2007, 01:27 PM
I am a fan of KH and KH2 (Wasn't really into KH CoM). However, the problem I had with it (More so in Kh2) was the fact that alot of ptot progression woud start off well, like with Roxas in Twilight Town, then as you gain control of Sora and travel the worlds and beat bosses, the story progression slowed down substantially. Excluding the intervels in Twilight town and a little bit in Hollow Bastion/Radiant Garden where the story picked up again, it really wasn't untill you went through each world twice and reached the world that never was untill the plot would really get going again.

But apart from that, I really enjoyed the series, and am eager to see KH3.

Agent0042
03-29-2007, 10:21 PM
Yeah, I think you're right about that. The plot of the original Kingdom Hearts really did feel more... unified to me.

IDX
03-29-2007, 10:43 PM
Same here. It seemed that KH2's story is more separated. Like if you go to a new world, a new story comes up and kind of drifts away from the main plot. But still, I like the game just as much as the first one.

Mickrulz
03-30-2007, 05:07 AM
However, I did love the drive gauge (As easy as it made battles). I loved the idea of running around with two keyblades :)

Also I didn't think there was much character development in the second one either (save for Roxas). However, I do bear in mind it is a kids game, so it isn't going to be a complex game. However I thought that even KH1 had alot more character development then the second one (Riku for example).

But as a plus, I did like the battle system in KH2. The tigger command thingy (Hitting triangle and certain areas) was a good idea IMO.

Agent0042
03-30-2007, 05:13 AM
Reaction Command, I think it was called. But yeah, I enjoyed Reaction Commands too and found them a welcome addition to the battle system. I also was pleased that there was no more Heartless camera --- you could use the right-analog to rotate the camera as you pleased, etc.

Drive system --- as much as I loved the whole two keyblades thing, it didn't quite excite me as much as I had hoped it would having seen it in previews / trailers for the game. I think it in large part had to do with the way you powered them up, which felt a bit tedious.

Mickrulz
03-30-2007, 05:23 AM
Reaction Command, thats it.

And yes i agree with you on the drive system. It is tedious to level up, however I still enjoyed two keyblades. Actually when I saw the trailer of KH2 I was never awear of the Drive System, so I thought you could permanently equip two keyblades, haha.

Also, I missed dodge rolling :(

Also I don't really like the Gummi Ship travel on either of them, but I thought that Gummi ship travel in KH2 was an improvment over Gummi ship travel in the first one.

IDX

I thought the way Sora held the keyblades in his Final Form was awesome. They just levitated next to him and he produced great eye-candy.

Wasn't that only ever released in Japan, though?

Anyway, I've been replaying KHII. I got the strategy guide from the library. It seems to be pretty good, but, as is unfortunately common with strategy guides, it misses out on some things. I've already played and beat KHII before and so I generally know how to do things, but for some reason I was getting my butt kicked by Barbossa. I couldn't figure out what was going on --- it seemed like he was using some sort of power move or something that just instantly caused a game over, even though Sora wasn't anywhere near him. Finally, I figured out that if Jack falls during the battle, then it's game over.

Neg
07-26-2007, 01:29 AM
I have the guide for II. I didn't end up using it, as Jiminy's Journal is perfectly clear on telling you what to do. I did pull up a materials list when I was synthesizing to figure out the most effective way to get the required amounts of each, but that was it.

TM
07-26-2007, 11:59 AM
One thing that pissed me off about the guide, was that it told you that yu only have to complete the game on Proud mode to see secret ending, but then I found out on a KH forum I post on, that you still have to seal all the Keyholes in every world, even in proud mode.

IDX
07-26-2007, 04:04 PM
That's what they said in the guide I believe. That all you have to do is seal all keyholes on Proud Mode to get the secret ending instead of doing all of Jiminy's Journal. Comparing that to sealing all the keyholes is a cake walk if you ask me.

And yes, that game has only been released in Japan. But you can still get it through torrents or buy it. I had the impression that you knew Japanese for some reason :/.
