I've only just watched the SFII movie in Japanese, and I have to say, it feels like a completely different movie without the Rock & Metal.
They're both good, but the original will always be the best!

I was so glad to find this soundtrack, Shredder, thanks. After I downloaded it, though, WinRAR said the archive ended unexpectedly. I have the files for Vol. 1 but they're all listed as having 0 bytes and won't play. As for Vol. 2, I only have 5 tracks. It wouldn't load any more after that, again saying the archive ended unexpectedly. Is there a way to fix this? Is anyone else having similar problems?

Indeed, The Japanese and American soundtracks are completely different. That's why the japanese one is really appreciated, since it's quite uncommon to find it, especially the vol. 2.

Any idea where I can download the American soundtrack? Not just Silvercahair and the like, but also the background music, like the boses getting off the plane, and the opening ryu/sagat fight. I searched for over 10 years.

Oh man, I've been looking for the 2nd volume for a long time. This is my all time favorite anime! And God forbid that some dumb, untalented person even touches this film ever again (seriously, the American soundtrack is an insult to the film, and any film for that matter). Watch out for Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-li. It's another attempt at a live action Street Fighter, and after seeing the first attempt, I'm not too excited about the 2nd round!

I think you misunderstood me, I'm not after the soundtrack to that piss-poor Van-Damme film, but the Manga film. The music that Shredder posted isn't on any copy of the Anime I've ever owned (3 in total). Where can I get it?

I don't think he misunterstood you. Many anime fans don't like the American OST for the Animated movie of Street Fighter II. As you have noticed, it's way too different, and changes the mood and style of the Japanese OST.

Nah, I didn't read your message actually. I was just stating my opinion about Japanese originals becoming "Americanized." To take away from the hard work that goes into making a film or animated feature, and placing your own soundtrack and score, it just takes away from the aesthetics of the original. The language dubbing is the only thing I'm cool with. Hell, look at AKIRA, there's a great example of preserving the original soundtrack and score, and changing only the language!

Besides, the Japanese OST and score, uses more calm, mellow tones to mismatch the fight scenes, creating a sense of irony. If you witness a bloody battle and hear KMFDM as the background music, yes you will feel it be a bit nerve wrecking. Now, take that same scene, bloody ass, Balrog cutting up Chun-li as if he were a butcher preparing dinner...and having this mellow tone in the background. That mismatch together heightens the emotional response from the viewer more than KMFDM could. Kinda like having classical music playing during a vicious gunfight. People who know films would atest to that.
