Description
**********
Since the Matrix Path of neo came out many people were dissapointed with the constant glitches and terrible performance, but one of the most saving memoriable grace that the game had to offer was the music. Originally composed by sweden composer tobias enhus and collaberated with many diffrent artists Path of neo supplied a excellent soundtrack in a game ever.

RiPPERS NOTES: Hey guys, thought i would release a more organised repack to this very wonderful soundtrack. This repack has all of the level cues merged into one track. This time the track titles are numbered and some glitches were fixed. Track 16 He Is The One has a tiny 2sec glitch at the very end of the track. I tried hard to fix it, but r3ason4life told me that it was a bug in the program which he will fix in a later release. Another note that track 1 and 39 had to be recorded because atari threw a nasty wrench into the intro and credits music. But its still High quality!!

But for now enjoy this wonderful OST!!

WinRar is a compression utility, similar to WinZip.
Try using 7-zip (http://www.7-zip.org/), it opens both.

Love it! Really love it! I've downloaded another one before (Which was remixed slightly differently)

Two notes though:

1 - Aerial Battle (3) is actually MegaSmith, and MegaSmith is actually a part of He is the One.

2 - The pack did not feature "We Are the Champions" (Which I have anyway so I'm not bothered about it), Free Your Mind Up (The Credits version) or the end of "He is the One" (I call it "Neo Deletes Smith")

But those are tiny things, and I say great job!

UPDATE:

Im going to be uploading a Repack of the soundtrack which will remove some glitches from the first pack. it will also have all the cues for each level edited together to make it more organized.

It will also include The main theme you hear when neo is sleeping on the computer and it goes to the title. And the credits music free your mind vocal version.

Stay tuned.

Yeah I really couldn't figure it out, the last couple seconds of the tracks is all fuzzy. must be a minor bug in the extraction program, oh well, r3asonforlife said that he is working on an update of the program with several features.

ggctuk2005
04-19-2007, 09:54 AM
Nah, the last pack I got had the fuzzy bit at the end. I'm talking about the funny noise at the beginning.

BTW, PS2 Path of Neo WADs store the music in exactly the same way. I used PSound to figure it out (However it needs some serious updating don'cha think?)

OrangeC
04-19-2007, 07:48 PM
The PS2 format althought it is the same WADs, it is kinda diffrent, Your gonna have to wait until r3ason updates his program which he put on hold for now.

BTW im gonna upload the repack today people so look out for it in this thread.

ggctuk2005
05-30-2007, 03:22 PM
Well, I just noticed something. The re-pack is identical to the pack I got before I found this thread, expect for the fact that the Main Titles and Your Last Chance, and Free Your Mind Up are included this time around. So here's my review of some of the tracks:

Welcome Back - Missing a small segment. As well as the music from the opening cutscene (Which can be found in Reactor Leak's version of Welcome Back).
Aerial Battle - MegaSmith is the third segment.
MegaSmith - Okay, I made a tiny mistake last time. This track is used in MegaSmith, however, it is only used once MegaSmith slaps Neo and starts to hurl debris at him. It is also by Tobias Enhus and Thorsten Laewe, not Mark Killian, although if you combine the two tracks, it would be by Tobias Enhus, Mark Killian and Thorsten Laewe.
Free Your Mind Up - The beginning is cut short due to this being the recording of the credits and not a rip. Easily fixed by replacing the beginning with the beginning from the instrumental version.
He is the One - Once again, missing the cutscene music 'Neo Deletes Smith'. I know it can be obtained. Perhaps it is in a different WAD file?

Tiny things. Overall rating of repack - 99%, because I already had most of this stuff as it was. I got this becuase the pack I had was corrupted.

OrangeC
05-30-2007, 04:48 PM
I will try to fix free your mind up. However i cannot do anything about the welcome back track as it is the result of the extraction program, however music from the cutscenes cannot be ripped at this time.

Jack the Ripper

Here's my version of Welcome Back, with the opening cutscene music intact:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8HOWFKO0

And just for good measure, MegaSmith, how it should sound (Main Fight, then the fight where MegaSmith throws debris):

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=5WU086SJ

There must be a way (Turn Sound effects off and voice off and then record, perhaps?)

Alos I forgot that the MegaSmith and He is the One tracks have static at the end. If you have the pack before this repack, then use the last chord to replace the static.

Yeah OrangeC, that is what I call skill!
Many Soundtracks have not good quality but it doesnt matter, I edit them for myself!

To Crack an not recognized file is excellent Work! Thanks OrangeC!!!

OrangeC
06-26-2007, 06:09 PM
Well i didn't really crack it, a member from the atari forums cracked them and he coded an extractor program, i used the extractor program to extract the music from the WAD files.

A little NFO:

Path of neo uses the miles sound system which has small 1-2seconds of music that play sequentail and it flows together in the game. They were stored in MSS loops and packed into an unrecognzied type of WAD file. The same format was used in enter the matrix but it was ADX files so it was very easy to rip.

Im guessing Atari and shiny didn't want tobias music to be ripped because it was heavily collabarated by diffrent artists and decided to opt for a OST release, but it was never relased which pissed of many of us PON music fans, which resulted in us doing incomplete line-in rip which sounded bad. But thanks to dedicated members of the atari forums we have cleanly extracted the music and we can rest in peace once again knowing that we PWN3D shiny and atari.:naughty:

The Matrix - Path of Neo (2005)(Shiny Entertainment)(Atari)[XBOX][Xbox ADPCM].7z (http://50.7.161.234/may/1/nativemusic/VGMPP%20-%20Microsoft%20Xbox%20(2010-02-05)/The%20Matrix%20-%20Path%20of%20Neo%20(2005)(Shiny%20Entertainment) (Atari)[XBOX][Xbox%20ADPCM].7z)
They are with .matx filename extension cause from Xbox version but are absolutely identical to the PC version .WAD-s;
Extract and rename all *.matx to *.wad (14 files);
Download PON Music Extractor v0.5 (http://www.datafilehost.com/download-3ff60818.html) (PME) and extract to any folder;
Put all *.wad files (14) into your PME folder. This is required step! Else you can get errors on next step;
Run PME, press "Continue....", press "Add Sound Files" and select all your *.wad in PME folder.
In "Available Songs From Loaded Files" area press "Select All", then press "Extract Songs".
Look for result in [PME]\Output\OST\ folder! There are all 58 tracks.
It is also possible the temporary files will remain in tmpOut folder - just remove them all.
P.S.:
1. Don't use "Convert to MP3" cause very poor quality (128kbps)! Use another way, like Lame mp3 encoder manually.
2. Don't use extraction of entire WAD in "Custom Songs" area - it doesn't work properly, creating an intermittent sound!
If you want to extract entire WADs, use vgmstream (http://hcs64.com/files/vgmstream/) - download the latest build of vgmstream-test (vgmstream-r1002-test.zip (http://hcs64.com/files/vgmstream/vgmstream-r1002-test.zip) now) and vgmstream_external_dlls.zip (http://joshw.info/vgmstream/vgmstream_external_dlls.zip), then extract both into one folder. Put all original *.matx (not *.wad! or just rename all *.wad to *.matx back) into your vgmstream folder, and create therein this text file:
@echo off
cd /d "%~dp0"
mkdir Output
for %%i in (*.matx) do test.exe -o Output\%%~ni.wav "%%i"
pause
Save this file as (or rename to) matx-extract.cmd and run.
Look for result in \Output\ folder.

So, now you can encode all wav to flac by FLAC encoder (http://flac.sourceforge.net/download.html) or using foobar2000 e.g.
Also you can just listen all *.matx (without extracting) in foobar2000 using build of vgmstream for foobar2000 (http://joshw.info/vgmstream/), just download the latest (foo_input_vgmstream-r951.zip (http://joshw.info/vgmstream/foo_input_vgmstream-r951.zip) now) and extract into components folder of your foobar2000, and extract vgmstream_external_dlls.zip (http://joshw.info/vgmstream/vgmstream_external_dlls.zip) into foobar2000's main directory.

You are welcome!

I might point out one other fault of the PON Music Ripper: it seems like that when it reaches the last section of a WAD file it crashes, which means certain songs are usually cut short.

Not to detract from previous versions, but when I started my own edit yesterday - and, yes it IS an edit as it's using the dumped files provided above and I'm reassembling the songs from scratch - it occured to me that quite a bit of the music was incorrectly put together in the PON extractor: several tracks that are separate are put together (Welcome Back is two tracks, for instance). I myself managed to find a point to split "Dodge This Overkill Mix" into three - yes, three - separate tracks. There's also a spare at the end of that WAD file that has never been used (I believe it's used when Neo makes the rush for the helicopter but I haven't played the game in that long so I couldn't swear to it). Another one if Multiple Smiths. There's a bit of material there that never saw the light of day in previous releases. Some of it appears incomplete in the WAD file though, which probably means it wasn't going to be used anyway. It really is amazing how much music is there, and how much I'm finding out about it, even now.

Some of those were a pain putting back together, let me tell you. I decided to do this one by hand rather than use the Extractor for several reasons - the first being the fact the Extractor is incapable of finishing songs at the end of a WAD file without crashing, the second being the missing bits and the third being the fact that the Extractor seems to make the tracks off-pitch. The fragments in some were all over the place, I had to decide whether alternate sections should have been used or not. You might be wondering why I divided or joined certain tracks, and that's because they're meant to be that way I think. Take Multiple Smiths: It was always 3 tracks but the PON Music Extractor lumped them together and even omitted the end of the last section.

I hope to have this uploaded tomorrow.
