Hmm you've probably got it by now (or not) but I think its an excellent game and would recommend it. Its my favourite but if you're not into romance that much it might turn you off a bit.

It's not like any of the PSX FF's are hard to come by. I got a sealed copy for about 25 USD, including shipping. Now if you want a good pseudo-RPG that's hard to come by, try Star Ocean 2. It probably blows the FF series out of the water--the one sealed copy I saw on eBay recently was running slightly north of 120 USD. Heck, caseless, manual-less copies were selling for nearly 50 USD.

Which is probably why I got mine off torrents. Should really get around to playing it some time...

As already stated thus far, no matter how you obtain FFVIII you're not going to pay that much for it so it's worth checking out.

I would reccomend this game to god... or lend him my copy for 3 weeks, and when I come back I would say "why couldn't you give us a world like that? with Magic, and GFs?"

FF VIII has a broken battle system, a boring story (for most people), characters with no originality. It can not even touch the glory of ff vi and ix.

If you think you want to try the game, go for it, it can turn up as a nice game for you. No one can tell you what you beilive, by trying out yourself you will have your own opinion about it ;)

That's a bit asinine and fanboyish. You wouldn't have said that if any other game had been attacked. The simple fact is that there are standards of quality, and that FFVIII has very serious flaws.

Yes there are standards, and there are personal standards as well if there werent everyon would only be in love with Pamela Anderson. Not true I defend other games like FFX, X-2, and occasionally 7. It all comes down to PE Personal enjoyment. There are two types of info to make a 'good game' terms of ingenuity and terms of your personal enjoyment. In terms of ingenuity yes FFVIII could have definately been better, but in terms of my PE it was a chart topper, but ask yourself what game has no flaws?

Wrong. Personal tastes and actual quality are two different things. Take FFVII and FFIX. Objectively, FFIX is a superior game. However, FFVII is far more popular.

At any rate, not only is comparing video games and women nine kinds of lame, attempting to defend a game by saying all games have flaws is crap, as well. Most (if not all) of the other games just in the FF series (which, especially of late, has been hit-and-miss) aren't as seriously flawed as FFVIII.

The series has been hit-and-miss for the past decade or so. Since making the 3-d transition, there've only really been two good FF's released (mark that I haven't yet played played XII, as it's not released in my neck of the woods yet).
