Decided to finally take a moment and build the score with the album, FYC, and Blu Ray 7.1 Rip.

Here is my complete edit of the score (minus source music which is mixed very heavily in the film and hard to extract in any clean sense) along with all slating information known. Cue's whose names I didn't know or aren't confirmed are in quotes. Giacchino labels his tracks in order so we can figure out what slate number they are, but I didn't want to guess on which Reels so I placed "X" for those until we get more information.

Enjoy!

Alternates? And film version of the Credits? My understanding was the credits were edited based on the concert cues so I simply included them with the idea that "more" is more.

I mean that it would be great to have the End Credits, from start to finish, all in one cue. It is an edit of those two sections you separated with edits of those 3 suites, but a full-lenth end credits cue would be great.

As for Alternates... there's some actually:
- Jedha City Ambush: the FYC version is the Film Version (shorter and with inserts, compared to the OST version)
- Rebellions Are Built On Hope: somehow the FYC cue has a louder middle section, though I couldn't find any insert or alternate section...
- The Master Switch: the FYC version is the Film Version (with edits and a shorter violin insert), while the OST is unedited and with full-lenth violin insert

As for the End Credits, the FYC version should be the Film Edit of the suites (without the John Williams sections in the opening and ending).

If you could use those track names, it would be great! I'm a bit confused when I listen to your set and I cannot link the cues with the previous ones from the OST and FYC.

DAKoftheOTA

The OST titles are the official cue names. It was released with real names, not crap like "A Thern for the Worse" from John Carter. Giacchino's campy pun-titles were included in the inside of the OST booklet.

GoodMusician
10-26-2017, 11:55 PM
If Giacchino named the titles something, those are the official titles.

I'll compare the FYC and the album for those cues, but it sounds to me like they're not alternates, they're just edited.

---------- Post added at 06:55 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:47 PM ----------

Jedha City Ambush- this track on the FYC is simply the album track edited down.
Rebellions are Built on Hope - does seem to be either a mixing difference, or an alternate take of the same material *I'll include this
The Master Switch - It has two minor edit point differences and a different take where the violin is. *I'll include this

Jedha City Ambush- this track on the FYC is simply the album track edited down.

In the very opening there's an added synth or some kind of guitar which isn't featured in the OST version.

GoodMusician
10-27-2017, 12:20 AM
hmm the mixing difference of the guitar? It is slightly different.

Imperivm
10-27-2017, 12:32 AM
If you could add the full-lenth End Credits it would be perfect.

I also remembered that the OST and FYC cues for "4m28 Confrontation on Eadu" might be combined, since the first has the Full Opening (which is cut in the FYC version) and the latter is unedited (there's a very very small edit in the OST version).

And there would also be (but here I'm nit-picking) the drums inserts used to "fade" where the FYC cuts away John Williams' material (look at FYC cues for "5m32 Rogue One" Part 1 & 3, "6m37 Scrambling the Rebel Fleet (Part 1)" and "6m38a AT-ACT Assault " Part 1 & 3). Not sure if they can be isolated, but I doubt it.

Sorry for pointing so many things, but these are all the differences that I could find between the FYC and OST. Nothing more.

---------- Post added at 01:32 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:30 AM ----------

hmm the mixing difference of the guitar? It is slightly different.

I can't say if it's a guitar or a synth, but it's not featured in the OST version. I'm pretty sure it's an insert.

Confrontation on Eadu - it's a fade on half way through the album version. Because cues are recorded in separate segments, the micro edit you hear is because it's edited at a different point (I might adjust just so I have 'every damned second' as they say).
That timpani roll was easy enough to isolate (use the opening and for the roll, use the ending for the hit and fade). But it's tracked from "Jedha City Ambush" so it's already on the album.

Scrambling the Rebel Fleet - it's obviously a faked ending using tracked material.
AT-ACT Assault again has that piece from 'Jedha City Ambush' attacked.

My intention is to give you every second and every note as it was originally recorded/intended so if it's included already, I see no value in 'fake' cues.

As for the guitar, it was removed from the mix. It's used in more of the fight music so it fits that area of the score better, but for the Album it would be removed to allow it to fit the album presentation better. I have personally replaced the track with the FYC (edited to the full length again) version as the guitar should be there. It was removed for the album.

I can understand that those are the titles that were submitted for copywrite, but I've seen before where those titles don't match what was written on the sheet music.

I don't disagree that the titles he gave are corny as fuck, but I truly feel that if he called them that, he as the composer and the author of the work, then we should respect the actual titles he gave his works.

Here's the breakdown of what I did and the titles you've provided

I don't believe it's as easy as just applying the cue titles to your edits as clearly some of them feature more than one cue (I'm probably wrong on some of these but I feel it's more accurate than what you present in your spreadsheet):
1m01 A Krennic Condition = 1m01 He's Here For Us
1m02 Jyn and Scare It = 1m02 A Long Ride Ahead
1m03 Jyncarcerated = 1m03 Wobani Imperial Labor Camp
Xm05 Jedha Reveal = There's Spies Everywhere
Xm06 You are Being Rescued/Yavin = The Detention of Jyn Erso
Xm07 Seen Saw? [00:00-01:56] = Jyn's Interrogation
Xm07 Seen Saw? [01:56-End] = Mission To Jedha Pt 1
Xm08a Going to See Saw = Mission To Jedha Pt 2
Xm08b Going to See Saw = Trust Goes Both Ways
Xm09 That New Deathstar Smell = When Has Become Now
Xm10 Courescant Dreams = Jyn's Memories Of Childhood
2m11 Jedha Call Saw = 2m11 Jedha Arrival
2m12a Jedha City [Cue Title unknown but "Mission to Jedha" doesn't fit]
2m12b Jedha City [Cue Title unknown but "Mission to Jedha" doesn't fit]
2m13 Hearts Of Kyber
2m14a When Ambush Comes to Shove [Cue Title unknown, "Jedha City Ambush" is the next cue as shown by the FYC]
2m14b Jedha City Ambush
Xm15 Prisoner of Exchange [00:00-00:54] - Cue title unknown
Xm15 Prisoner of Exchange [00:54-End] = Let Them Pass In Peace Pt 1
Xm16 Where there's a Whils = Let Them Pass In Peace Pt 2
Xm17 Blind Fold = No Friends Of The Empire
Imperial Departure
Xm18 Saw's Cells = Reunion At Saw's Hideout
3m20 Today Of All Days
3m21 Star-Dust
3m22 An Imperial Test of Power
Xm23 Power Grab = Apologies Are In Order
Xm24 Parent Trap = News from the Ashes
4m25 Approach to Eadu
4mX Eadu Insert
4m26 No Trust Among Rebels
4m27 Her Path Is Clear
4m28 Go Do, that Eadu, that You Do So Well = 4m28 Confrontation on Eadu
4m29 Have a Choke and a Smile = Krennic's Aspirations
5m30 Erso in Vein = 5m30 Rebellions Are Built on Hope
5m31 K2 is Going = A Rebel Change of Heart
5m32 Takes One to Rogue One = 5m32 Rogue One
5m33 World's Worst Vacation Spot = 5m33 Cargo Shuttle SW-0608
5m34 Good Luck Little Sister
5m35 Ambush = What Brings You To Scarif?
5m36 Are We Blind?
6m37 Scarif Tactics = 5m37 Scrambling the Rebel Fleet - The slate is wrong as shown by the FYC.
6m38a Bazed and Confused = 5m38a AT-ACT Assault - Again, the slate is wrong as shown by the FYC.
6m38b Trapped = Finding a Way Through
6m39 Rebel Fighters [Cue title unknown]
6m40 Project Stardust
6m41 Entering the Imperial Archives
6m42 Get That Beach Under Control
6m43 Switch Hint = 6m43 The Master Switch
7m44 We Have To Press The Attack
7m45a I Have an Idea [Cue title unknown]
7m45b I Have an Idea = Scarif Antenna Alignment [Not sure how it's split between both parts]
7m46 Transmission Impossible = 7m46 Your Father Would Be Proud
Xm47 Live and Let Jedi = Hope
7m50 Rogue One End Credits

Are you going to do a revised edition as some of these sound like they're unfinished edits, especially A Rebel Change of Heart which sounds like its unedited from what's in the films' mix. Also would be nice to see this use the actual cue titles.

GoodMusician

"Thank you"

You're welcome!

Now to respond to the rest of your message.

You may be right about the difference in splitting the music, but there's no definitive way to know where they should split. I mostly went by how it's presented in the film and the other releases so everything at this point is conjecture. I find the easiest thing to do at that point is to release it in a way which represents everything as clearly and as simply as possible.

I enjoy this score, but it is not something I would normally make an edit of. If you feel inclined to make edits and adjustments, I welcome it. I have at least provided what there is in a simple and easy form. (But I do warn you: Giacchino scores leak very often so I don't truly expect it to be much longer before it shows up in its entirety).

The track you mention about sounding "incomplete" is because...it goes right into the next cue. So to present it separately, I had to fake an ending. It is a very simple edit to layer them together and make one long track if one does not like that ending.

As for using your "actual" cue titles, as stated...oh I dunno, 4 times now, those are the titles which they registered. They are not the titles Giacchino wrote on the sheet music. It seems to me that someone didn't like his cue titles and retitled them all when they registered them (and presented them on the album).

I only ever name things based on what the composer named them. In the cases where I wasn't sure, I put placeholders and was very clear they were not original titles.

If you feel so inclined to rename them, I'm thankful that the information could be made available (hence why I tried to assist the process and put it into a spreadsheet) but I will not be adjusting them. Between my original post of the music and either yours or mine assessment of these registered titles, I believe that those who wish to update their tracks are capable enough to do so.

Had been planning to do this myself, but was having software issues, so thanks alot for doing this GoodMusician, can't wait to hear how it turned out.

I've done a complete edit of the credits, (I was able to get a clean ending for Live And Let Jedi and a clean opening for Hope from the 7.1 mix and have seperated them) would it be okay to share it here for the people that want a complete end credits?

Also there was apparently some unreleased music in the Galleries on the extras have you used this in your version?

My intention, again, was to post all the music in its original state. The film version of the end credits is simply an edited down version of the two John Williams credits pieces, and the three suites Giacchino wrote. I don't mind people taking this and making what they want of the music into how they'd prefer to listen, I just personally don't see the value in putting the same music on this twice but with different edits so I didn't include it. It was in essence an "inauthentic" track because it was made editorially.

Glad you all are enjoying it! And I'm LOVING the covers!

Also, though I don't use them on Rogue One, am I the only one who likes Giacchino's "Pun-Filled" titles? I think they add a certain charm to the whole thing, instead of the usual naming of whatever is happening in the film :)

I'm a fan in general, I left them in, even here :)

There was apparently some unreleased music in the Galleries on the extras, have you used this in your version?

I have used all I could find. I've not personally gone through all that material as I was under the understanding most was released by the FYC.

This is... incredibly cool. How do you pull the music out largely without SFX?

Thank you so much for this score.

Well, there were two main sources of the score: the album and the fyc album. Combined, they filled most everything. A couple pieces were found online on youtube and soundcloud, and the rest, ripped from the blu ray. For the most part, the channels were pretty clear. I also used a program to extract sfx from the channels as possible.

Interesting... that program you talk of might be incredibly helpful for a few projects of mine. How it's called? Is it free?
