None can deny Nobuo Uematsu's greatness. Especially not myself, as I'm a huge fan of both him and Mistwalker studio in general -- though I wish they'd make a console game again. That is why, when Terra Battle 2 was announced, I once again made it my personal goal to rip its music when it came out, so that I could listen to it even when not in-game.

In the past two weeks, there were a lot of times I wished I hadn't done that. Terra Battle 2 proved to have the most twisted resource file protection I have ever seen. One would expect a mobile game's assets to be simply compressed - and Terra Battle 1 was like that. Terra Battle 2 however does not use compression, and as a result uses more bandwidth than you would expect from a mobile game. Instead, Silicon Studio chose to encrypt the music files with a custom cipher they call the "ChaosCipher". Furthermore, the game does not have proper filenames, which makes it hard to even find a music file. Even when you know how the filesystem works, you can only know which file is which by sending a message (encrypted with the ChaosCipher, of course!) to the game's server to request a list of files.

Basically, I spent the past two weeks doing what may be one of the most difficult things I've ever done, and the result is this soundtrack. I decided not to include any tracks that can be found in Terra Battle 1 (Thread 179684) (it's updated, check it out!) or The Last Story (TB2's files contain music from The Last Story). I hope you enjoy the result of my hard work, and of course, Nobuo Uematsu's greatness.

One last thing: from what I've seen, Terra Battle 2 seems to have pretty good storytelling. It kind of reminds me of the good RPGs of old. Try it out! It is now available on Google Play (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mistwalkercorp.terrabattle2) and the App Store (https://itunes.apple.com/app/id1259172369). In Japan, it is available on PC via DMM. The English version will likely come to Steam later (the game's code hints at that), but games like this really aren't very suited for PC.

In Terra Battle they opted to create fixed characters to they could tell the story as they actually wanted and because of that you can actually see how the game feels like his old ones, I'm liking it more than TB1 actually

I really appreciate you putting this effort in! Mobile games are starting to have some great soundtracks and the care you've put into ripping this is amazing.

It should save to your default downloads folder. If not, you should check your download history -- you can open it and find out where it was saved from there.

Glad you all like it, by the way! I'll make sure to update this rip regularly -- if that's ever necessary, because from the looks of it, this game doesn't seem to be doing too well. Such a shame they released it with only a few chapters worth of content even though all of the story, music and art up until chapter 30 is already finished (and is looking really good). :(

Oh, and I updated my Terra Battle 1 rip (Thread 179684) last week with 42 new tracks, so check it out if you haven't already. :)

Mega downloads to documents for me, for some weird reason. Try looking there.

During yesterday's maintenance, one track was added to Terra Battle 2, so I updated the soundtrack with it. The new song is track 14, "The Tide of Battle". :)
(I have to say though, it really doesn't fit where it's played since it sounds like a dramatic battle theme but it's used as a field theme... in a desert)

Thank You kind sir. I have to ask, were the original files good enough to be flac'ed?. The original had to be lossless in some form for the flac to be authentic.

You're welcome! The original files were in ogg format (there's a link to them in the OP), but rather than editing (loop/fade) and then recompressing them and introducing new compression artifacts, a lot of people prefer them to be saved in a lossless format instead so that they're "as lossless as possible". A lot of game soundtracks are saved in lossy format, but FLAC versions of those soundtracks definitely still have merit as they are authentic to the sound you hear in the game, without additional quality loss. :)

Thank you for including the unmodified, non-transcoded game audio. A lot of people don't do that, they just convert everything the MP3, increasing size and/or decreasing quality. Ogg is a perfectly fine lossy codec, superior to Mp3 in all ways bar universal support (I don't think Apple supports ogg).

Perhaps in future you could add tags to any ripped ogg files; metadata of course doesn't harm the audio. Even wav files now can have metadata (Mp3Tag is good for this).
