Vaughan Williams HODIE (TODAY) opens with a BIG splash.... oddly I find it more interesting to watch this performed rather than just listen,
but that is the way it goes. His Fantasia on Christmas Carols is one of his minor masterpieces.

Britten is not one of my favorites; his Ceremony of Carols is big time Christmas music; but it is the charming Rejoice in the Lamb that Britten
set the poems of 'the ingenious Mr. Christopher Smart' (who was thought a lunatic) to such lovely music. Ten short sections. The section for Jeoffry
the cat and his enemy mouse is wonderful.

The Cambridge Singers lead by John Rutter is what Christmas is about today. Old music and Rutter's new carols are always marvelous.
