This is the rarest album in the 1996 RCA/BMG series "100 Years of Film Music". It didn't sell well at all.
I was lucky to find a copy, and since I paid quite a bit of money for it, please believe that I mean
it when I say that you should not share this album any further. Thank you!
It is not without justification that the German feature-length documentary Panamericana (Traumstrasse der Welt) is advertised
as a "Hans Domenick Production." The versatile Herr Domenick not only produced the film, but also directed, edited, and provided the
voiceover narration. The title translates as The Dream Road of the World, a reference to the highway stretching from Alaska to Mexico.
Domenick follows this route from one end to the other, pausing along the way to film such regional attractions as Monument Valley,
the Bryce and Grand Canyons, and an annual rodeo. Traumstrasse der Welt was one of the more captivating entries in the Berlin
Film Festival of 1958.
Traumstra�e der Welt was a hugely popular documentary at the time, a box office success (Remember? There was
a time when documentaries really made money in theatres!), and Zillig's epic score, 106 minutes in length, is both colorful
and dramatic. This is truly first rate, forgotten music!

Winfried Zillig (1 April 1905 – 18 December 1963) was a German composer, music theorist, and conductor.
Zillig was born in W�rzburg. After leaving school, Zillig studied law and music. One of his teachers there was Hermann Zilcher.
In Vienna he was a private pupil of Arnold Sch�nberg, later following him to Berlin. His first compositions date from this time.
In 1927 he became the assistant of Erich Kleiber at the Berlin State Opera. A short time later he became repetiteur to the
Oldenburg Opera. In the years 1932 to 1937, he acted as repetiteur and Kapellmeister at the D�sseldorf Opera. Positions
followed as Kapellmeister in Essen and at the beginning of the 1940s as the musical leader of the Posen Opera. After the
end of World War II he became the first Kapellmeister of the D�sseldorfer Oper. In the years 1947 to 1951 he occupie
the position of conductor at the HR-Sinfonieorchester.[1] After 1959 he led the musical division of Norddeutscher Rundfunk.
Zillig died in 1963 in Hamburg.
Winfried Zillig was very productive as a composer. His output includes operas, oratorios, passions, choral music, serenades,
string quartets, and other Chamber music, as well as lieder and suites. He was also responsible for completing the score
of the oratorio Die Jakobsleiter, which his former teacher Arnold Sch�nberg had left unfinished, at the request of Sch�nberg's
widow. Furthermore, he made a name for himself as a music theorist with an emphasis on twelve-tone technique.
