Is there an MP3 version? I've stopped downloading FLAC as I can't hear any difference with my headphones. I guess my headphones just aren't good enough.

Question: what are these "Alternate Take" albums supposed to be?

I don't know the anime industry perfectly, but from my experience, the Alternate Take albums are cds that are inserted into Blu ray releases of certain series. Hiroyuki Sawano, the composer of the Attack on Titan and Kill la Kill series (among many, MANY others), is quite famous for having alternative renditions of the songs he's produced. The albums add value to the Bluray Disk releases of these shows, though usually the alternative disks are included in either the second to last or the last bluray volume to release. The purpose of including Berserk <Alternate Takes> in the first Bluray release of the 2016 series probably has something to do with series' poor reception. The series' merits aside, the soundtrack was easily one of the things that stood out, and like everything else in an anime production, could probably be sold independently. The closest western equivalent would be those teaser artbooks they include in collector's editions for games like Skyrim and Mass Effect 3. They're not the full artbooks, but a sampling of what you could get if you purchase a seperate product.
