Interested, indeed. Just discovered the other day that Lalo did one of my favorite TV soundtracks, for an old TV movie called The Aquarians, an Ivan Tors underwater production. Wonder what else he's done that I've never heard of, or knew about. A clip, with just a snippet of a great theme at the beginning, here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QkpI3tcCiQQ. Thanks! It sounds great. Never knew they did a cd of the soundtrack, a perfect bit of '60s jazz-pop. Really brings back memories of the show. I don't know how long it was on, but it was way too long. Don't know what season it began, but you could tell the time as precisely as by a clock, because at that exact moment every week, maybe 9:28 pm, at the act 2 break, no matter what kind or color car old Joe was chasing, it went out of control and the same white Porsche (?) went through the same guardrail and over the same cliff-side. Blue Chevy convertible with the bad guys, florist delivery van, cement mixer, whatever - hey, it's 9:28 - there goes the white Porsche! Police Squad did that sort of thing very well in later years.
I also remember the Mannix-mobile. After the show croaked, there was a contest to give away his custom Toronado. Somehow it was won by someone just a neighbourhood over from me here in this northern Canadian city, so I saw it in real life for many years. Cool car. George Barris?

This Mannix 2016 remaster is even lovelier than I remember, most especially Side 2. I should point out that I had an LP rip of this soundtrack years ago which has since been lost. But this time the music really stands out and I think that's due to the care of this reproduction and less to do with having forgotten the music.

Track 01, the main Mannix theme, had a very slight buzzing distortion that kept popping up on the left side. It's safe to assume the defect is in my own equipment since I didn't hear any distortion after Track 01 through the last track of this remaster. And, since it was very faint, I'm not overly concerned about it.

Beginning with Turn Every Stone and continuing through the final track, it's like I'm hearing that music again for the first time. I feel the excitement I felt as a child, watching that show with my grandparents.

There was a window of 10-15 years where Lalo Schifrin was very prolific and created his most endearing tv and film soundtracks. Not only was his 1968 soundtrack hip for it's time, but near 50 years later it still rivals any new soundtracks for sheer enjoyment and flow.

Several years later the best thing about Mannix is Lalo Schifrin's soundtrack! Staying power is the difference between (this) good stuff and cheap shiite like commercial Top 40 music. Or pop 'stars' who don't write their own music, who rely too much on autotune gimmicks, etc because they lack real talent.

Maybe Jerry Lewis should start a telethon for 'stars' suffering from Multiple No Talent. Go ahead, throw your sacred cows on top of that bonfire! But I'm digressing again. "Hello, Newman!"

Of course, those opinions are only show my age, not my maturity, but I stand by my convictions in re Schifrin's body of work. Lalo Schifrin stands up there with the 'big boys' like John Williams, Jerry Goldsmith, Ennio Morricone, Bernard Herrmann, etc. Lalo Schifrin music is always present (and more is always welcome) in my musical conglomeration.

Mannix has never sounded better! Thanks again for sharing your remastered edition.

Many thanks powaquatsi for sending the link and sharing your remaster. I am not technical savvy, but to answer your question about remastering. I have listened to your remastering of the Mannix LP. Sonically, I feel the sound is clear and more revealing and warmer. I can't say for sure if it sounds better than the CD reissues, but it really brings back fond memories of my first listen when I purchased the LP long ago. Great job on the remaster and thank you for all your hardwork ;-)

I hope you do more vinyl remastering of television soundtracks from the 50's, 60's and 70's.
