In comparison with the Varese CD, no comment ! All instruments are highlighted, the mix is respected and goodbye the background noise (breath).

For the sake of nothing other than stating my opinion, since Hollywood with eventually remake Escape from NY - you know they will - my recommendation for Snake Plissken - because there's no way they're going to cast Russell much as I would like to see Old Snake outwit the opposition - is Norman Reedus.

Brings the badassery and grit Snake needs.

Yeah the Silva is okay but the stereo re-recording by Howarth on much of the soundtrack makes it more of a novelty but a decent listen nonetheless.

powa is right, the silva was remixed and some part re-recorded and it is not the original version and yes what it is your point mate?, if you like the silva, go buy it. so simple.

Given I couldn't find an online source stating it was a re-recording (in whole or in part), I simply asked after your source for clarification. You responded as though my question were an accusation of some kind.


i own all the edition of escape from new york and in the silva booklet it says that some part are re-recorded. in the booklet, not on the website.

Seems I have no choice but to dig my CD copy out of storage to find out what "some part are re-recorded" means.

Laugh all you like, but, no, a "remaster" is not a "remaster". There is a strict definition. At most you can only describe what you've done as "enhanced" the previously mastered source LP.

My point, mate, wasn't a point, it was a question. A question about the claim the Silva was a re-recording. Given I could find no online source stating the same, and I don't have my own copy of the CD readily at hand to consult, I was merely asking after the source for this claim. Just simple curiosity on my part, that's all. But both powaquatsi and yourself respond as though I'm passing judgement on his "remastering". I haven't heard the bloody thing, and have made no comment about it herein either.

So what was your point, other than being a prat?
