Happy Easter everyone. Another blondie release ... only this time, it's one that's been finished since 2012. I started working on it in 2009 for a 30th anniversary release but when I thought I was getting close to finishing, complications rose. Those of you who been to my Elm Street 30th Anniversary (Thread 181846) thread, I mentioned this project as well as that was the hardest work I have ever done ... expect with Flash, I got so steamed that I just threw the towel in. I took it as far as I could and you'll notice some bits here and there missing. I tied up the loose ends and thought 'bollocks' to the rest. It would be tedious to have the drum and bass line for the last 25 odd minutes playing continuously with score popping up in places.

8 attempts, 1 Blu Ray, 2 DVDs and many CDs have brought us to this point. This is the most complete 'Flash' score, past 90% but I can't put a more accurate number. I tried different ways of making this, the original Queen album had a lot of dialogue so I added some here and there. After a while, f*** it, let the score do the talking. There is some lines from that album still in including lines added to seamlessly branch old material with new. The same can be said about SFX. I did what I could to get the new material to as good a quality for the branching, there are some inconsistencies but that will show more with the Howard Blake score. It would have been nice if his score had been remastered in the few years.

I'd like to take note of some tracks - CD 1 T10: 'Barin and the Hawkmen'. This is an unused track in the final version. I inserted this because the original album track 'Ming's Theme (In The Court Of Ming The Merciless)' plays without stopping for the confrontation. It didn't work without the edit
CD 1 T21: 'The Servant / Dale's Fight'. I made a mistake. In the edit, I accidentally saved it in 128 kbps. Laters, I did another edit where I removed the SFX but it didn't sound as good. Recently, I decided to swap both tracks. The SFX free track is now on CD 4.
CD 1 T30: 'Escape From The Swamp'. This is an alternate version. The actual movie version was just too insane to be cleaned as a whole. It's close but not that close.
A number of out-takes have been added. From what I mentioned before, that damned continuously playing drum and bassline made things hard. See CD 4 T6: 'Final Approach / The Wedding March / Open Fire / At The Controls'.

CD 4 T5: 'Destruction Of The Hawkmen City ... And Flash?' is an out-take, one of the tracks that had added dialogue from one of the first attempts and since it does contain score, it would be wrong not to include. It wasn't included on CD 1 because of the amount of dialogue and SFX.

This album is made up of 4 discs. CD 1 - Film Score. CD 2 - Queen's album, 2011 remaster. CD 3 - Howard Blake's orchestral score. CD 4 - Bonus Material. I added 2 interview segments. The first is a good one from 2008 where Sam Jones & Melody Anderson talk about their experiences, the great cast and crew, the sequels, deleted scenes and more. The second is from a podcast dated December 2007 where director Edgar Wright lists 10 great things about the movie and then a Q&A with actor Timothy Dalton, it's a good laugh. A number of extras from Queen's 2011 remaster have been placed with these extras.
