You've all probably heard Ultron's menacing rendition of "I've Got No Strings" in the Age of Ultron trailer. The background track is Wreckage, by Superhuman (https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CB4QtwIwAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DoBd TsBDg-cA&ei=cqSoVPzIJMjooASo0oKwCg&usg=AFQjCNHa4eqxq9iGXaA-0PTJZc-AaP-QxA&bvm=bv.82001339,d.cGU), but the song itself was done by Confidential Music (https://twitter.com/confidentialmx/status/527224304606248961), who have declined to upload the track anywhere (probably because they wouldn't be allowed even if they wanted to). So I finally got sick of waiting and made a version myself.

I used the surround sound mix for the trailer to make this. Unfortunately, Ultron's voice is so powerful that it's present in all the audio channels, so the beginning twenty seconds weren't usable. I was also dismayed that Stark's voice echoed through all the channels as well, but the 5.1 mix for the SDCC alternate of the trailer had his voice nice and centered, so I made use of that. Ultron does have one line of dialogue present - "but now I'm free..." - but I thought it added atmosphere to the track, so I kept it in rather than trying to work around it.

You can preview it here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mj9MzzmQtDM).

Here are the files!" (www28.zippyshare.com/v/DG3tIC1S/file.html) Let me know what you think. Enjoy!

Very nice work! I would have preferred not to have the "now I'm free" line, but it isn't super intrusive. And I know how hard it can be to work around something like that.

When it gets to the point where you can't remove SFX or dialogue, I usually just say fuck it and include it. Because if you tamper with it, it can only make things worse. I'll listen to this later when I have time, but I look forward to hearing it. I'm sure the dialogue only adds to the experience.

I'm guessing forum readers already know the following info but just in case:

Ant-Man Teaser Trailer airs during the two hour premiere of Agent Carter on Tuesday on ABC . . .

And Avengers: AOU trailer airs Monday, Jan 12th during the College Football Playoff game on ESPN.

Mark your calendars accordingly.

Exactly. Even if one is able to remove dialogue, most likely the finished product will be garbled and unlistenable.

Neat edit.

I quite enjoyed hearing Ultron's voice.
"but now I'm free"
James Spader has quite the menacing voice.
I honestly wouldn't know if I want the full song without his voice.

He's the...

string that holds it together.

If it hadnt been said that was dialogue. I would have thought it was part of the "song"
It also makes it sound a bit heavy metal.

God bless you, SkellyMan. This is really the best you could have done, not to mention as others said earlier, Ultron's "but now I'm free" speech was the the bloody icing on the already wicked taste of a cake! It echoed beautifully on that specific spot.

He really has no strings on "him". XD

I almost wish you'd kept "there are no strings on me" at the end. It might've been dialogue, but's it's the natural end of the song. It almost feels like it was cut off a few seconds too soon.

That said, you did a great job and I've been playing this on repeat quite a few times now. Wasn't terribly impressed with the trailer footage, but that creepy, slowed-down version of the Disney classic really reminded me of "Once Upon a Dream" from Maleficent.

A little off topic, but I haven't been a fan of Marvel Studios for awhile now. I've not been fond of the over-emphasis on comedy and sub-par (to me) CGI. I really enjoyed the Incredible Hulk and the first Iron Man, but since then the movies have just gotten continually worse for me. YMMV, I guess.

I had that thought as well; I considered keeping Ultron's last line in there for that very reason, but I figured that if someone was interested in that line they could just watch the trailer again, where it really belongs.

Ditto on the comedy. In The Avengers especially I felt that they were trying way too hard to be funny. Like the "He's adopted." line. Or Black Widow saying "That doesn't look like a party." Ba-dum KISH!

It just felt out of place and wasn't all that clever anyway. Winter Soldier and Guardians were much better at telling jokes that were actually funny and actually felt natural in context.

Whedon and crew conquered the sheer stupidity of a concept like the Avengers and made it work.

BTW, the Hulk and Hulkbuster battle is in the second act. Apparently the third act features an even more insane fight, probably Ultron versus everyone.

That's Whedon for you.
A different kind of sense of humor. More for old people, like for 90's teens.

I didn't notice that much humor in TWS. I loved the "War Games" reference. That killed me.
GotG was incredibly funny. I'll say it's much more funnier than all the previous MCU films combined, even Avengers.

I found a mix of the dialogue in Avengers to be funny while the slapstick humor was even funnier.
"Brofist" is probably the best part in the film.
"He's adopted" was pretty damn funny, imo. Very 90's humor.

It was funny, but all in all it just felt very out of place. Too forced.

Guardians was hilarious, as was Winter Soldier. My favorite line from the latter is probably:

"You're a lot heavier than you look!"
"I had a big breakfast."

It looks like cinemas are finally (http://digitalcinema.bydeluxe.com/site/dlxportal/docs/Trailers_by_Deluxe-_WK_10_US_2.pdf) receiving the second Age of Ultron trailer. As a result I expect a copy of Trailer 2 mixed in surround to surface soon, and if it does I'll try my best to edit out the dialogue and SFX the same way I did for this.
