I don't like it's the same original ~40 minute suite version. It's not cohesive enough for me as a concert work (despite the suite being a mix of cues in film order). The 2004 Akira Senju Piano Concert in two movements version conducted by Chosei Komatsu [Kentaro Haneda (pf), Japan Philharmonic Orchestra] is better despite being shorter. nextday has shared it here (Thread 57893) (Tracks 1 and 2. Remaining tracks are cues for the 2004 TV adaptation).

Akutagawa's TRIPTYQUE is good. Shorter, three strong movements, and not as dragging as FATE.

My wonky rip.

Ohhh, how on earth did I miss this? Thank you, Herr Salat!

It's wonderful to get a fresh recording of this... even though I do agree with you that Senju's "condensed" version works much, much better as a coherent concert work. It has a sense of propulsion and direction that this (much, much longer) edition lacks, even though it's still quite lovely taken on its own merits.

Lovely recording, outstanding presentation, as usual with your posts... Dankeschon! :D
