Many of his scores are right up there with his concert work, like Banished Orin, Empire of Passion, Ceremony, Antonio Gaudi, Fire Festival, etc. There is a ton of amazing music in these sets ;) I also have a dozen different individual CD releases of his concert works which I may upload soon, too.

Disturbingly, A LOT of Kanno's best work greatly resembles a lot of the scores by Takemitsu found in these sets, I've discovered -- the influence is borderline plagiarism at times in a few of his works. At least Angel's Egg is still an unassailable masterpiece!

I too find many of his film scores more immediately accessible and interesting than a lot of his concert work, but that's mostly because his film scores are very direct and melodic a lot of the time. His later film scores intersect with his concert works and eclipse them in quality, IMO. Glad you're enjoying them, and stay tuned for the next boxset upload this weekend! ;D

It's in there! And it even includes the previously unreleased atonal spooky music from the scenes where the main character is stalking his wife, etc. :D The titles for that disc are in Japanese though, because that's what was available for the metadata. It's on Disc 31 ;)
