Composer: Michiru Yamane. Accept no substitutes.

Here is the OST for Castlevania Bloodlines, recorded from the headphone jack of a Model 1 Genesis. The Genesis is a Model 1 with "High Definition Graphics" above the cartridge slot and a VA3 revision motherboard, so there should be no distortion in the sound. Audio was captured using a Behringer U-Phono UFO202 and Audacity 2.0.1. This is raw audio straight from an actual console, no emulation. Didn't even need to tweak the volume for this one. :) Each looping track was allowed to play twice, then given a 10-second fade-out. Track names are taken from the official OST (http://vgmdb.net/album/19326), and the ordering is... well, I started out trying to order it the same as the official CD, but that sort of went off the rails, and I just did my own thing, so, er... whatever.

Fantastic. Thx, I like your Genesis rips.
I'd love rips for Ecco 2 Tides of Time and Jewel Master, if you're ever bored ;)

Yay! You're on a roll!

I was actually pretty disgusted by Genesis music before you started posting your hardware rips. I don't remember it fondly (I probably had one of the bad sounding revisions... I also spent a lot more time with my Nintendo consoles), and the stuff I recently listened to in emulators sounded like shit. Well I guess a lot of it still does sound like shit :P, but it's growing on me. I'm acquiring the taste. :)

Are you planning on doing hardware rips of any other systems? NES or Game Boy, perhaps?

If you are taking any Genesis requests at all (I know you are probably not... this is all a pain in the ass, I know), a hardware rip of "Rockman Mega World" would blow my mind. ;) Or the ten or so original compositions on it, at least. You know, the Wily Tower stuff or whatever (not the 1~3 arrangements).

Unfortunately, I don't have those games. Actually, I don't have carts of a number of games I'd like to rip. At some point in the near future, assuming I have the $$$ to spend, I might order an Everdrive MD or even a Mega Everdrive. This would allow to me do a hardware rip of virtually any game. No guarantees, but I'll keep Ecco 2 and JM in mind for the future.

First, thanks for the renaming in the other threads. Dunno why I didn't bother to check the VGM files [smacks forehead]. Rockman/Mega Man is already on my short list of games I'd like to rip; the Goat goes waaaaay back with this series. See my above comment about the Everdrive.

As for other systems, it's possible, but I'm not sure right now. Many years ago I did a series of NES rips. I still have the files, but they have quite a bit of buzzy line noise (I was never able to get rid of it). My modern hardware setup might sound better, but at this point I don't know if I really want to go back and re-rip everything. I'd like to do some TurboGrafx rips, but I don't have a Turbo Booster or CD-ROM unit that would allow me to properly capture audio. (One controller port? No stereo sound? Yeah, this thing'll sell like freakin' hotcakes! [rolls eyes]). Also, I'm mostly limiting myself to systems that employ FM-synth audio. Systems like the SNES and most of its successors use samples or digital audio streaming. I wouldn't be opposed to doing a few SNES rips one day (Super Metroid would be an obvious choice), but that's far down the road. Neo Geo? Totally don't have one of those. Sega Master System? That system had crap audio. Phantasy Star would likely be the only thing worth ripping there. I'll probably rip everything I want to rip from the Genesis, then see where I want to go from there...

I don't want to turn this into a request thread, but as your MD rips are probably the best I have ever seen, do you have any of the games on this post?
Thread 124190

I think those game have pretty good soundtracks and would be pretty awesome to the scene to have a quality rip.

I actually have several of those. Bio-Hazard Battle sounded like a good idea, so I'm ripping that one right now. :-) The others I'll put on the list for possible future rips.

First off... Thanks so much for bringing these sounds to us, Iron Goat. They're all top quality.

Secondly... I used to own a SEGA Nomad (along with my Genesis consoles) and I remember how great the games sounded on that handheld when listening to it with headphones on. Have you ever thought of doing a line-out rip from the Nomad and comparing the sound quality? I'm willing to bet it'll sound much clearer. Just a thought. :)
