Actually, you don't have the SNES version of Star Ocean on this collection. I think that's what Trigunzero was talking about: you had uploaded the same OST twice, that being First Departure.

No they're both there. It's just that the message above says First Departure and thwe image is original Star Ocean cover. If you download them and see for yourself, it'll be the original SO OST.. I'm downloaded these myself and have the entire collection.

I did download them. Twice. I could tell from the instruments used that the one labeled "STAR OCEAN Soundtrack" is simply First Departure without the vocal song and without Come On Bunny and Mission To The Deep Space.

That's weird then. Cause I have the original copy right here in my music folder and this is the place I got it from. Something is wrong there.

If you listen to them, they should sound exactly the same. Then again, Star Ocean on the SNES never had a proper OST release.

I've got the impression that the songs from the Star Ocean Second Evolution OST have an inherent "echo effect" in them, in a way that it's more difficult to distinguish the individual instruments, so that the listening experience is worsened. I also noticed a similar effect in Star Ocean The Second Story OST, but in a smaller intensity. I'm particulry picky about this because I played the game on my PSP very recently using in-ear headbuds (it gives excelent sound clarity compared to the PSP speakers), so I know what I'm talking about. Does anyone else notice this? It was a problem on the ripping process or the OSTs were originally published with this "defect"?

It doesn't exist. The original Star Ocean soundtrack and the Star Ocean: First Departure soundtrack are the same thing, the latter having a few tracks more like the one that plays in the opening. Both have the same 10 original SFC tracks on them. For the full Star Ocean SFC soundtrack you'll have to use .SPC.
