FILM MUSIC BY MICHAEL CONVERTINO (3 separate promo discs)

Here are 3 volumes of “Film Music by Michael Convertino.” They were listed at a soundtrack auction as promos from the Vangelos Management Agency.

Several of these scores received commercial releases, but many did not, like Milk Money, Jungle 2 Jungle, The Water Dance, Things To Do in Denver, Bull Durham, Queen of Hearts (a gorgeous, sweeping orchestral score), etc.

Source: CDs (3 separate discs)
Audio Quality: excellent stereo sound. No dialog or sfx.
Disc 1 = lossy, but good-sounding with the cut-off at around 18,000 khz. Note that most of the tracks on this disc are also on the lossless 2-CD set mentioned below.
Disc 2 = lossless (per Tau & EAC)
Disc 3 = lossless (per Tau & EAC)
Ripped to FLAC using XLD.

2) The music from “Queen of Hearts” is 4 minutes longer on this set.
Most of the lossy tracks from Disc 1 of the 3-disc set are also on this 2-disc set in lossless versions.

Source: CD (listed at a soundtrack auction as a promo from the Vangelos Management Agency).
Audio Quality: excellent stereo sound. No dialog or sfx.
TAU and EAC indicated both discs to be lossless.

Fabulous share. Thanks very much yepsa. He has competition, but Convertino remains for me the most underrated film composer of the modern era.

Thanks, yepsa! I originally skimmed over the title of this thread as "Michael GIACCHINO." So I was in for a nice surprise this morning when I discovered my error. I agree with McD that Convertino is seriously underappreciated. Witness being replaced for the Santa Clause sequel by George S. Clinton!

Thank you so much! There seems to be a problem though with the 2-disc promo... I downloaded twice 'MforF1-MC' - from both sources, and tracks 8,9,10 are corrupted...

PS. I will agree that MICHAEL CONVERTINO is a highly underrated composer. He is up there in the league of the top five talented and respected ones... Sometimes director collaborations and management is everything...

It's probably an issue with the unzipping program you are using. Those 3 tracks aren't corrupt, but they include a "?" in their titles which some apps can't read. The same problem will occur if the track title has a slash (/) in it, and possibly and some other punctuation too. This issue came up before at FFshrine and some FFshriners suggested using a program called 7-zip to unzip files as it does NOT have a problem converting punctuation. It's free and I switched to using it a while back myself. I just used it again to download the Convertino files with no problem, including those 3 tracks. Another reason you might want to look into 7-zip is that you're going to come across posts by other people that will cause the same problems with your current unzipping app.

Here's the website to download it free: http://www.7-zip.org/

And here is a new Thread (started by me) asking for alternatives to 7-zip, in case you wanted to use a different unzipping program: Thread 122371

If you switch to 7-zip, please let us know if you could now download without trouble.

yepsa! You da man!!! I was interested in a few other promo scores/soundtracks...some I don't even know if they exist or not and some are not promos...but I figured if anybody had them, you would. I would greatly appreciate links to any of these. I would gladly share links to some stuff in my collection in return. I am only looking for lossless (so FLAC, ALAC, or WAV are good) Below is the list of what I am try to get:

David Newman:

The Brave Little Toaster (1987)
Little Monsters (1989)
The Freshman (1990)
Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead (1991) - (Score by David Newman not the Soundtrack. I already own the soundtrack)
Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey (1991)
Honeymoon in Vegas (1992)
The Mighty Ducks (1992)
Coneheads (1993)
Tommy Boy (1995)

Thomas Newman

Revenge of the Nerds (1984) or the soundtrack
Real Genius (1985) or the soundtrack but really the score which imo was AWESOME!!!
The Lost Boys (1987)

Various

The Wizard (1989)
Fletch (1985) the soundtrack
Teen Wolf (1985) the soundtrack
Armed and Dangerous (1986) the soundtrack

P.S. If you don't have any of these, it's cool. You can still PM for links because I have been looking for the Blankman music by Miles Goodman FOREVER!!!! Thank you!!! Thank you!!! Thank you!!! I'd be more than happy to share.

Pretty good score for one of my only favorite dance movies. The 90s was a great time for movies :)

I actually did download the Miles Goodman CDs. They are awesome!! But thank you again for re-posting the link. I am so excited to get these promo releases. I CANNOT WAIT!!!! You're the man!!! Also, I can't imagine that there is a score or soundtrack I have that you don't already have a copy of..but once again, since you were so kind to upload all this, please send me a PM if there are any special requests that you are looking for because if I do have them, it would be an honor to send them to you. By any chance, are these promo releases in FLAC? I'd love to send a PM to you but for some reason my account won't let me. I need to contact the administrator. Maybe I need some more posts. Anyway, again thank you!! thank you!!! thank you!!!

yepsa

1) I'd love to send a PM to you but for some reason my account won't let me.
2) Are your promo releases in FLAC?

1) You have to have posted 5 messages before you can send OR RECEIVE any PMs. The messages can be as simple as "thank you." There might be a short delay after you post the last one until the PM function kicks in, but it will.

2) Since I work from original discs, most of the recordings I share will be lossless. When I import that music into my computer I usually convert it to the FLAC format as it keeps the music lossless, but also creates smaller file sizes (the main reason people use FLAC). No original recording will be in FLAC format. FLAC is something you can convert the music to when it's imported into a computer.

I try to post something new every week. Quite a few rare David Newman scores are coming up!

Thanks for the link. I'm new to all of this. How can I open up the file now that I have saved it? Can I open it in itunes?

1) You need to open it with an expander that can handle .7z archive files (this is where the password of "crybaby" comes in).

2) This will give you the .flac audio files

3) These files can be played in iTunes, but only if you convert them from FLAC into something else that iTunes can handle.

4) You can play them in FLAC at higher quality by installing a FLAC player (e.g. Audacity)

5) all these things can be downloaded free off the internet (except iTunes).

The software packages that you use for all these operations will be dependent on the kind of computer that you are using... Pc, Mac, or something else ?.
