MILES GOODMAN: SELECTIONS FROM FILM SCORES (2 CDs) (FLAC)

Miles Goodman, as you may know, died in 1996 at the early age of 46. He graduated from Antioch College (Ohio) with a degree in English, but eventually moved West and became interested in film scoring through his cousin, Johnny Mandel (small world!). Most soundtrack fans seem to agree his work is under-represented on disc, so here are 2 rare compilations with some of that music. These are usually listed as promotional releases, although the only credit I see is on the back cover and is for Antioch College. Since Goodman established a music scholarship there, and they named an amphitheater after him, perhaps they produced these discs as a tribute.

Volume 1:
38 tracks: Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (9 tracks), Housesitter (5 tracks), Funny About Love (5 tracks), Dunston Checks In (6 tracks), He Said, She Said (6 tracks), What About Bob? (7 Tracks).
Great stereo sound. No dialog or sfx.
Tau and EAC indicated all tracks on this disc to be lossless.
Disc was ripped to FLAC using XLD.
Links are in spoiler.

Volume 2:
35 tracks: Larger Than life (9 tracks), Blankman (6 tracks), Getting Even With Dad (6 tracks), Indian Summer (7 tracks), The Squeeze (6 tracks), Sunset Park (1 track).
Great stereo sound. No dialog or sfx.
Tau and EAC indicated all tracks on this disc to be lossless, except tracks 29-34 (from The Squeeze) which have a cut-off that could indicate they are lossy. Comment #8 below says those tracks are lossless too!
Disc was ripped to FLAC using XLD.
Links are in spoiler.

NOTE: There was talk of a volume 3 existing, and it was eventually shared in post #37 (see page 2). However, as you can see by my comments in post #44, it turns out to be just a poor-sounding compilation made by a fan who simply (and inaccurately) labelled it as "Volume 3."

I don't have Volume 3 (there used to be mroe info on it online years ago), but it had a [nine minute] suite from his rejected score to "Indian in the Cupboard" on it, among other tracks.

EDIT:
Turns out I know somebody who has this, and I've traded with him before. Guess I need to contact hyim again. :-)

Thank you very much, yepsa! My first experience with a Goodman score was with "Muppet Christmas Carol" (a score that I LOVED).

Also, to justin boggan, I hope that Volume 3 is real. I would looove to listen to "Indian in the Cupboard" suite (I read somewhere that Frank Oz really liked that score).

Thanks again!

Frank Oz rocks, wish he'd directed more. And the Muppets take is my absolute favorite version of Christmas Carol. Even though they're Muppets, the whole thing with Tiny Tim is more tearjerking than other versions.

"The Squeeze" tracks are lossless. The internet badly needs a culture change with regard to this sort of thing. I've never read so much bunk in all my life as I just did at Tau Analyser's website...

Thank you so much for these... I've been looking for a way to become familiar with Goodman for a while now. I think the only score of his I'm familiar with is Dunston Checks In!

Likely my site:

Rejected Scores, Main Lists (http://www.rejectedfilmscores.150m.com/list.html)

Not on there is that I read he supposedly only reorded about 20 minutes of the score. It wasn't specified if that was because the score was rejected before he finished, or if he just did a short score.

Please contact him immediately! Volume 3 would be great to have.

That's where I'm heading in a minute.

Volume 3 exists, as I have it, but I don't currently have access to it, unfortunately (the external hard drive that holds it needs a new power adapter as the old one has stopped working).

I distinctly remember hearing the track of his music for "The Indian In the Cupboard", but I also distinctly remember it being of very poor quality, which is an absolute shame, because from what I heard on the track, I know I would absolutely love to hear it in all its glory. I have a vague, visceral memory of one distinct flourish of the orchestra that I very much enjoy.

When I gain access to the drive again, I will be sure to upload the third volume here if it has not yet been uploaded.

Thanks to everyone for the updates. I'm still not sure an actual volume 3 in this series exists: if it did the cover would be just like the ones shown above and the audio quality would not be "very poor." I'm not saying "Indian in the Cupboard" wasn't released on a Goodman compilation, just that I'm skeptical it's part of the 2-volume series I posted. I would love to be wrong, so please share whatever anyone has!

very, very interesting!

The host provider, 150m, decided to do what it likes to do every few months: go down with no forewarning. Even the main site, 150m.com, won't come up. They come back up whenever they feel like it.

And today is that special day when the provider finally felt like coming back up.

So, the main lists:
Rejected Scores, Main Lists (http://www.rejectedfilmscores.150m.com/list.html)

Hours & hours of reading material, even if you just read the listing. Interviews (over 30 composers), samples, full listing (maybe a little out-of-date) for official CD's and bootlegs/promos.

:D Hey philby, I posted a request in the hunt thread months ago about Real Men, love that score too. I think that's why, in part, Yepsa was kind enough to post these 2 CDs.

Someday, if/when I have some patience and a lot more time, I might try to extract some audio from the DVD. Someday. Meanwhile, I don't know of anything out there.

As promised, here is Volume 3.

For some reason I became unsubscribed to this Thread and didn't come across the addition of "Volume 3" until now. I think it's great that additional music by Miles Goodman is added here but, let's be honest, this so-called "Volume 3" has nothing to do with the 2 volumes originally posted by me. Many of the poor-sounding tracks come from LPs or DVDs---heck, "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" is all synth---and the misspelled words on the artwork clearly indicate it's something put together by a fan who simply labelled their effort as "Volume 3." By all means enjoy it for what it is, but not as anything actually related to the original 2 volumes.

If possible, could anybody post a lossless copy (FLAC, though a WAV would be fine) of the tracks from "Volume 3" of "Indian In the Cupboard"? I just want those tracks.

Volume 3 had to come from more than just a fan cobbling, 'cause the rejected score to "Indian In the Cupboard" has not been released to this day, and there's no known bootleg previous to this "Volume 3".
