wtf@Wall Market

So, a few months ago I started a new game of FF7 and today I just picked it up again; I had left off just after you save Aeris from the Turks at the church and you venture into Wall Market, following Tifa.

Have you people been to Wall Market lately? That place is INSANE. I can’t even believed they included that town in the game without rating it M! I’m not complaining about it (I actually think it’s quite funny and interesting), but it’s just questionable: it has a giant whore house, run by a sex-driven old man who has sex with women to see if they’re good enough for his sex club down the street. In this sex club, you can go in there and (as Cloud, a man) take a group hot tub bath with sexy men or go to bed with one. The man who makes dresses talks about knowing guys "like Cloud" who are looking to dress like women, and the local gym is full of drag queen gym bunnies. What in the world was Square thinking when they created this town? xD

There’s nothing unusual with that sort of thing. It does kind of fit in with the whole dark city theme in midgar. Although i agree Square might have gotten away with a lenient rating.

Well, you think Dr. Kadawaki wasn’t running a secret brothel in the infirmary in VIII. The whore!

Its not too bad imo. Alright, the idea is a little dodgy. But they didn’t do it in a distasteful way. It was all done with humour. Cloud dressing up wasn’t trying to promote cross dressing. it was supposed to be funny. Don Corneo was a dirty old man, but it never showed anything adult.

I see what you are getting at. But i just don’t think its done in that way.

They got away with it because it was all intended to be humorous. There are quite a few bits like that in VII. For example, in Wutai Corneo indicates that he will have his way with Yuffie whether she likes it or not. Another example, Hojo planned to mate Aerith and Red XIII.

If any of these bits were meant to be taken in a serious manner they wouldn’t have gotten away with as much as they did.

Are we forgetting what goes down in that other bedroom that you can peek into?

Also, most of the stuff mentioned really isn’t coming out and saying all the adult themed stuff. Yeah, it’s implied, but not in a distasteful manner, much like Calum stated.

Wall Market is kinda like our China Town. 🙁

Wall Market is like Vegas!

I would love to have a more expansive visit to Wall Street in a remake. It reminds me of home, only the people don’t shoot you in the face.
