In 1959 William Holden was persuaded to write liner notes for an album of new arrangements of songs and themes from motion pictures in which he had appeared. With the exception of one of Holden’s earliest appearances in 1942s THE FLEET’S IN, the films chosen were exclusively from his 1950s films, including SABRINA, SUNSET BOULEVARD, THE MOON IS BLUE, STALAG 17, LOVE IS A MANY SPLENDORED THING, THE KEY, PICNIC & THE BRIDGE ON THE RIVER KWAI. The arrangements are by Warren Barker and the orchestra, which included some of the best jazz musicians in Hollywood at the time, was conducted by Matty Malneck. A new composition, “As I Hear It” was written by Barker as a tribute to William Holden and is the title song of the collection. “As I Hear It”, recorded on the WB sound stage, was one of the first true audiophile stereo albums released during the first year of stereo LPs and the sound holds up even by today’s standards. The album has been remastered from a 7 inch stereo reel tape in 24 bit and I have expanded the collection to CD length with additional themes and suites from other films starring William Holden. It makes for a quite unique, not to mention enjoyable listen. Included in the FLAC download is a JPEG of William Holden’s liner notes for the original album.

as george costanza would put it

"An affair? That’s so adult. It’s like martinis and stockings and William Holden."

he was such a cool cat, the friend every man wanted to have and the man every woman wanted to marry

Thanks. This is rather different.
I can’t hear a difference between 16 bit and 24 bit though.

Thats because the FLAC download file is 16 bit. The 24 bit in the post refers to the technique used to transfer the original analog recording to the digital format. It has been found that the bass frequencies in particular, are more accurately rendered when a larger bit rate is used in the remastering process for older pre-digital recordings. But like CDs, in the last stage of processing the files are then dithered down to 16 bit for compatibility with the majority of playback systems used today.

in 16 or 24 bit, in Mp3 128 or in Lp, When you don’t know the score, When you don’t have it, When you wanted to have it, when you thought never be able to listen to it one day, it’s fine with me, so thanks a million for this share.
