i dont see why the hell we should have to pay to play FFXI? we buy the game for over 40 then every month we have to pay extra. less people will buy the game because of this. i mean dont get me wrong it will probaly be a great game and everything but still thats gone 2 far! what are your thoughts? should we pay or not?

simple…square is greedy.:p heh, no but seriously, the only way square will be able to keep the play online service up will be the monthly payment…wich if it is around the $10 as rumored, it is way to much.

However, what i have seen of FFXI, I might just have to give in.

do you have to pay even if you have free internet access?

It’s unfortunate that Square has to charge for their service, but in the long run I think it will make for a much better game. Charging per month gives them much greater reason to fix the bugs and hacks that appear along the way.

Just look at Diablo II. Free access to battle.net and it’s one of the worst examples of a system that they really don’t have incentive to fix.

Tseng*Turk: yeah, the FFXI online system is totally separate from your ISP, so you’ll still have to pay for it.

Yeah Diablo II has free access, but it doesn’t have that many bugs because they still patch it…

IMO I don’t know if I will play FFXI for that reason, first; because you have to receive patches and game fix’es you have to buy the Playstation Hard Drive. Seems like one of those Micr*soft monopolies.

As to the monthly charge I can’t really say its unfair since I have played online pay-to-play games myself such as Everquest.

The only thing that puzzles me which I would like to see, is how the game plays out. All FF games have been famous for their detailed story lines, plot twists, and battle system, but when the game is launched online most of that will all dissapear. It is very hard to put a story line where potentially thousands of people may play.

Well, thats my out take on it, I hope square pulls it off… but it will never be a TRUE Final Fantasy.

Its like i said in another section… I’m basically on a mission to collect every single Final Fantasy game ever, so I dont really care how much I have to pay.
