I mean it’s so freaking OBVIOUS lol & it would make gamestop more enjoyable to shop at! WHY haven’t they done this yet?! Who else agrees? Thanks in advance!

Electronic Boutique used to sell OSTs, though their selection was pretty limited. I got a lot of N64 game soundtracks there. It must not have worked out too great if they quit doing it.

But it makes sense to me. I mean, it’s one of those few markets where people still actually buy jewelcase cds, so why not tap it?

As far as playing it though, I think most stores are contractually obligated to play the same top 30 mix these days.

I actually didn’t know this! I probably wouldn’t have been into game music back when that was happening. It took me hitting my mid-20’s to even really pay attention to a soundtrack from a game! Lol! Now, it ends up being a catalyst to me playing the game. Like Chrono Trigger, and FF6. I didn’t actually play either of these until after I heard their respective soundtracks! [I still haven’t beaten FF6, but anyways…]

It would make a lot of sense if they sold game soundtracks, especially with where games have gotten to today! I mean, we get movie-quality music nowadays! and it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to play it over the P.A. systems they usually have.
I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that the top 30 mix is a contract obligation… :/

The same reason they got out of the movie business…

There’s a limited amount of floor space, and (per dollar) both music and dvds aren’t shit compared to games.

:this: im the only one i know in person that knows what a music is when it comes to gaming.
you dont see many reviews talking about music either.

"would play again if music got a DCL. 10/10 ~IGN"

THIS! im sick & TIRED of the same damn top-40 stuff i hear everywhere! i want classic & modern game music in stores, the radio, TV, EVERYWHERE! what’s it gonna take to make this happen?!

EDIT: also they could play arrangement albums only in japan such as hiro 30th anniversary album: thank you for listening! PLEASE gamestop & other stores im begging you PLAY & SELL VGM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

EDIT 2: if places in japan can play vgm like akihabara then why not stores in the US? what’s stopping stores from playing & selling game music? oh yeah i forgot if your name isn’t tailor swift you can FORGET about being played on the radio & at stores!
