why do they keep callling it FINAL fantasy

:confused: well i think when they make a new game they think that thats the last game they will make{but we all know how that turns out}.

actually that’s how the series started. back in the 80’s square was making not so big games. they would sell but not enough to keep the company on its feet. on the verge of bankruptcy they decided to make a "final" game based on their "fantasy" of what the perfect rpg would be. hence they came up with final fantasy. i think it would be silly to change the name of the series since its so far into its life-time:cool:

Actually, the way I herd it was: The creator of Final Fantasy (I forgot his name) was going to leave the company after he made one more game, an RPG, so because it was going to be the last game he made, he named it FINAL fantasy.

But, after the game did so well he decided to stay with the company….thats just the way I herd it though.

that could have contributed to the title but what i posted before is what i read in the history of squaresoft section in videogames.com:cool:

no offense fellas, but anyone who keeps up on these sort of things knows that its always been hironobu sakaguchi’s final fantasy. not square soft. sakaguchi made games like pong and crap, and for his big farewell, he decided to do his passion, fantasy. he did it, it was a hit(duh) and its like a running gag

yea i never sed kuja wasn’t right but it’s true that there was a time that squaresoft was almost going bankrupt and final fantasy 1 was the game that saved it. read it up at videogames.com

Final Fantasy makes it sound like its the end…

They call it Final Fantasy because thats the series’ name dumbass

Each Final Fantasy has never continued off of one another hence the name Final Fantasy for each story its the final when terra and locke and the gang banged on kefka and saved the world it was final..the evil was gone etc.. in each ff the story has came to a close for that world…it never continued…all we get is open ended stories LOL

I’ll have to agree with FF8Freak, but everyones else is right too…i dunno why they’re arguing, they are basically saying the same thing, just one has more detail
