Double overdrive, using grand summon to Magus Sisters, followed by Anima’s Oblivion will F*** him up!

I havent fought nemesis though, what attacks does he do that makes him so hard?

DeathAwaitsYou
08-09-2005, 05:12 PM
He has 10million Hp in his pocket, all his attacks inflict 99,999Hp no matter whats your defence, he will encounter any overdrive with one of his attacks AND one of his attacks inflict 3 X 99,999 damage (i.e. the whole party is F***ed).

Solaris

Then it seems like its impossible to beat him. Has anyone beaten Nemesis?

DeathAwaitsYou

I did, to do that you must level up to the 255 figure, which isn’t easy!
Infact, Nemesis is easy compared with PENANCE, but he isn’t in the monster arena.

It must take a bloody long time to level up that high.

I dont think I ever encountered Penance…?

Nemesis has Ultra Spark, which causes Curse, Poison and Power Break as well as around 30,000 damage to all characters (with 255 Defence). With 255 Defence and Magic Defence, his regular attack will do ~15,000 damage (can be halved with Protect) and Ethereal Cannon (one target, can be halved with Shell) will do about 20,000. Armageddon is 99,999 to all characters regardless of your Defence.

I dont think I ever encountered Penance…?

Penance is only in the PAL/International versions of the game. He appears once you’ve defeated all the Dark Aeons, who of which are also exlcusive to those versions.

Oh goodness. I fixed the first post, but when you make threads, try and remember that we can’t read your mind! 🙂

I’m beating Nemesis at will, and my characters don’t take a single hit (except the aeons of course). I got the strategy from:

— Final Fantasy X (US) Monster Arena FAQ —
— by CB! (Christine Bomke, [email protected]) —
— Version 2.0, 9/23/02 —

found at gamefaqs. I didn’t like her strategy at first, but only because I hadn’t learned to watch the "player turn display" at the upper right corner of the battle screen! The most important element of the strategy is to have 3 players with 99,999 hit capability and agility stat at 220 or better. This allows for multiple quick hits (between 17 and 20 hits) before summoning an aeon to take the sacrificial hit from nemesis. Watching the player turn display allows you to summon your aeon at the right moment so you don’t take any damage. This strategy disposes of Nemesis in about 2 minutes after you get the hang of it! Say hello to Break HP limit hardware!

in theory ALL the monsters are hard.

They all have huge HP and are capable of inflicting 99,999 damage.

Nemesis is hard… but not that hard!

The most annoying thing about the monster arena are the two monsters that enable you to level up your LUCK stat: "Greater Sphere" and "Earth Eater". They both deal out counterattacks, and it takes a while to kill ’em unless you use blitz ace, and even then it’s a hassle. Why are these the only places to get LUCK and FORTUNE spheres? Argh! These two are MUCH more annoying than any others, in my opinion.
