FFVII all the way. FFVIII was good, but the whole thing was a love story, and the "strike last, get more exp." factor pissed me off. The music was really good. FFVII started a revolution and to this day is probably the best rpg in exsistence. everything from the music (which kicked ass) and the Characters (who ruled, vincent the best) to the in depth story plot, final fantasy is second to none.

A tie. Both games featured horrible villains. Cloud was much like Cloud, in some ways. Rinoa and Aeris both weren’t that great.

The first Lunar game was better than any FF game other than VI. To me, they are equal.

Hate VIII because of juntion system, VII was so much funner.

I thought the Junction system made VIII more unique than any other RPG out there, which was a fresh idea from Square.

FFVII. The junction system in FFVIII was good but I think the materia system from FFVII is a lot better. Also FFVII has a better storyline and isn’t all lovey dovey like FFVIII.

I’d have to agree with this as the only thing I can think of that was better in FFVIII is the graphics but all they affect is the way the game looks and not how it plays, so who cares if it looks better. FFVII wins hands down!

That’s cause you are the embodiment of retardedness chewy. Also, if you ignore the love story of VIII you get a pretty good game, and I think it’s a fresh start(well, not anymore) from the tried and true formula of FFVII.

well… ff8’s story is awesome… ff7’s story is more awesome plus the love triangle between tifa, cloud and aeris… ff7’s graphics is okay, which is 3D… ff8’s graphics were more cool… battle systems… i don’t know… i guess the materia system is more cool, cuz the junction system is not that good. you can just juction one kind of spell to each stat. music… i think they’re both awesome.

so all in all… i guess ff7 is better for me… even though my favorite character overall is rinoa… well, i just like everything about her…

Both of them suck. FFVIII sucks slightly less, however.

Look at FFVII. Simplistic linear storyline. Shallow characters with almost no growth. Lots of plot holes and incomplete parts. Moving around was an absolute chore because of the inconsistent controls. Materia ruined the entire party dynamic.

Then there’s FFVIII. Storyline went to shit with the whole "OMG we all knew each other when we were kids but we forgot" thing. Junction system wasn’t really any better than materia because it still squashed the party dynamic and maintained the same basic functions as materia.

Both are great games… I enjoy playing VII more than VIII, but overall, I like VIII more than VII.
